  1. I can tell you right now there wont be an AMS or CDG flight to CMH anytime soon or even after the airport is built, unless there is a major incentive for them to introduce the route. PIT and IND had CDG via DL but they were paid for with state and city funds, once the funds dried up the flights went away. CVG has CDG and it does not receive funds due to the success of the route and the heavy cargo. LHR does receive funds but only if the flight loads are below a certain percentage. The route is doing well with a 92% load factor and BA is making money in cargo as well out of CVG. It helps we have Procter and Gamble and GE Aviation based in Cincinnati. CMH would have a better chance trying to land an Icelandair flight through SWA partnership, or an Aer Lingus route similar to what CLE was able to snag for starters...
  2. The Netherlands needs an owner with deep pockets. The rooms are beyond tired, corridors and supplemental spaces are in bad shape. The public spaces and meeting rooms are at least in decent shape retaining it's historical character.
  3. No the new convention hotel will not be a Hilton brand. I can promise you that.
  4. Yes its the Netherland, walked the property last year for change of ownership....
  5. Airport vendor contract for Starbucks ended so they closed up shop overnight. Walls up for new vendor contract at nasty Dunkin.
  6. The shared window sill detail just looks bizarre to me like someone was trying a new design look. Wish Covington would have forced more brick or additional elevated materials, because we all know that white and black section is going to be EIFS or some painted corrugated metal.
  7. Its a Hilton Signia that was signed years ago. Indy's convention business is double if not triple what Cincinnati does on a yearly basis. They can facilitate an additional 40 story property and not over saturate the marketplace.
  8. Id really like to be a fly on the wall and find out exactly what he did to be pushed out the door on ethics violation
  9. I wonder how much of that was driven by OSU in the national title game and prior bowl games in January. Driving up numbers...
  10. Now that it will be 100% leased at least the tower portion, it's a financial cash cow and not a money drain. Then again this might make it more attractive to sell for a higher value ...
  11. Birkla originally proposed the Terrace Plaza to a bunch of hotel brands included Hyatt. I know those convos died due to the ceiling height and room size. Glad that his team pivoted and pushed for the old Great American building. These will be nice rooms in the heart of downtown activity.
  12. It's why IHG continues to struggle amongst the hospitality giants. Everyone of their brands is struggling badly. This is just am example of dumb decision making all the way around. This Holiday Inn when it opened was whew ugly on the inside, glad the building received a better interior package...
  13. The indication being that W&S has the flag currently for the JW brand. Which means Marriott has been paid and they have approved W&S to have first right to the brand for x amount of years. And yes there are many Marriott brands downtown but each one is a different type/style and caters to different clientele and has different service offerings. But you rarely have multiple Autographs in an condensed area such as CBD. One could easily be seen in OTR but not two in CBD.
  14. I can tell you right now with Western Southern owning the Lytle and planning on a JW Marriott, Marriott isnt going to piss them off and allow another autograph flag downtown. Yes you see it from time to time, but that typically owners with less pull and muscle to prove themselves...
  15. Its Omni if anything, Loews is not financially stable at the moment for another property.
  16. Well the autograph flag is already taken for the Lytle and the Kimpton is being built at Walnut and Fifth so both brands are out of the equation if that were to ever happen.
  17. To everyone saying the convention hotel is going to be a Hilton, it wont i have first hand knowledge, it will not be a Hilton or Hilton branded property. The Netherland is under a PIP right now for change of ownership. So something positive might happen with that property...
  18. It hilarious because Publix real estate arm showed interest in the old Newport Thriftway and Kroger panic'd and snatched it up. If Publix wouldnt have showed interest this store would have never happened....
  19. Newcrest Image originally at the Hilton Garden Inn and Canopy by Hilton flags for downtown Cincinnati when this was originally proposed as a dual brand hotel. They missed deadlines and lost both flags, doesn't mean they can't try to get them back though...
  20. WCPO ran a piece on the Escape Lounge relocating to the old DL Business Elite lounge that used to sit above 5/3 bank in Concourse B. I wonder if the lounge in A then is going to relocate to the old crown room on the second floor...
  21. You say depressing and boring. But if it remains white and gray it will age alot better and easier for remodeling efforts in the future. Getting too ornate or adding a lot of over the top material can make a building feel dated quickly...
  22. Yes the DL CVG SkyClub is very busy in the mornings and evenings. Especially prior to the Paris departure. It's a large club and like others said it's becoming dated, but it's clean, relaxing, and the staff are top notch.
  23. Feel bad for Cleveland. Columbus is building their new terminal. Cincinnati announces a half a billion dollar renovation with timeline and plans. Cleveland is just sitting in neutral on redevelopment of their airport...
  24. PDX is a huge win for CVG, do i wish it was Alaska or Delta, of course, but it gives the region options for another nonstop out west.
  25. Real question remains if Newcrest Image will actually do anything with 4th and Walnut or just sit on the grant money again and let the building deteriorate...
