Newport, KY: Ovation
The high rise buildings, built behind the shorter condo towers are in a later phase that has an undetermined timeline. Corporex is playing the long game at the moment. Getting the hotel and office building completed, and will do the condo buildings since they are selling. If the economy dips or collapses they can wait and hope construction cost go down where its feasible to start building the taller rental apartment buildings. They have done this before in Covington and Denver, wait til the economy is rough, construction materials and labor are way down in price and then strike.

Smitherman is slime, he is always looking for a handout. If he beats Dumas, I can imagine him wanting to take "time" to review everything. He is good at throwing up roadblocks.

As long as there isnt any bizarre language or upfront request expectations from the hospitality developers, 3CDC will make recommendations. Then a couple of other different parties will need to vote on it. Id say we will hear something before Thanksgiving honestly. With the election about two weeks away it could be sped up to get something agreed upon.

Cincinnati: Kroger
Kroger has slowly pushed everyone out of the Kroger tower as leases came up. Last law office left a couple years ago. It is 100% Kroger in the building. They have 84.51 which was designed to convert parking deck floors to office space. They are 100% leased also in the 1015 Vine Street building as well. I think your right we will see third party vendors, and consultants bulk up staffing more than anything. Maybe a couple of additional flights at the airport.

Kings Island
I saw that new standing surf coaster unveiled by Sea World the other day, brought back memories of the King Cobra. It be nice if Cedar Fair would operate the Viking Fury to go around the axis and do a complete 360 like other counterpart ship rides. Will be curious to see what new theme enhancements they do to the Adventure Express. Kinda surprised its still around, rough as hell and never been that popular of a ride in my opinion.

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
The Delta station manager and the SkyClub manager at CVG are just confused by the lack of attack or promptness by Delta. American brings in BOS, AUS, and RDU. Delta only counters with bringing back AUS. Breeze arrives with SFO, will Delta finally bring it back? Doubt it. The numbers for ORD and DFW on Delta are so high on avg that both cities should have been brought back and they havent. Delta is more worried about the NE corridor than legacy stations with large loyalty numbers.

Louisville is the exception in the list of three. Louisville does a huge amount of convention business in both the expanded and renovated center downtown, and the expo center out by the airport. Its a city that is becoming the next Nashville, as cool place to visit for a weekend trip. I like Tulsa but it be a lot harder for them to attract bigger conventions.

I am surprised no one in the group has asked. Where the heck will the Albee Theatre Arch go? Its out of place at 5th and Plum now, but I really do hope it will find a new home...

Just based on renderings with perspective, tower looks to be similar in height to the Hilton Netherland maybe a bit taller. which would be welcome on the west side of downtown, here is hoping for even more height!

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
Bahahaha there are very few suburban Cincinnatians on here making commentary about Blink. No one is unhappy, there are a lot of designers, artist, planners, architects on this forum. We have seen good in the past and this years was good, but missed the mark in some areas. I am glad to see outsiders enjoyed it, when you have worked on Blink and Lumenocity in the past like I have its easier to see weak points and problems. I think condensing the event down and being more selective on the light projections will help if this happens in two years.

Blink 2022 was still successful, but you could totally tell it has become more corporate. I think that OTR, Findlay and Covington (Minus the random Mainstrasse leg) felt the most cohesive and worthwhile walking around. Banks and Downtown just felt forgotten about during the planning and layout phase. All the great projections were South of Liberty. The comment I heard a couple times about projections in CBD was it just looks like a screensaver. They weren't wrong. CAC, Duke Energy, Underground Railroad Museum, could have been more interesting. I am being a critic but art school and grad school brings it out of me. Court Street was cool but they should have put Asianati in the wider portion of Court Street, why the big plaza if not for cool festivals? Architects of Air felt shoved off in a corner, could have been in a better location, or even the banks to help with more programming.

Kroger pinches pennies like crazy they will get rid of many overlapping market stores like you mentioned I think the biggest issue areas are Portland (NW basically), LA, Dallas and Houston. Four brands in the NW and LA region and then Dallas and Houston wealthier customers love Randall's and Tom Thumb but Kroger has a huge market in both cities now

Kroger did that because the Kroger brand was already strong in our region, no reason to keep the Thriftway name. Kroger isn't dumb they won't get rid of Shaws, Tom Thumb, Randall's, ACME, Safeway, Albertsons name plates.

I can only hope that Publix will buy the NKY Remke locations, and finally give some true competition to Kroger, hell they could take over the Hyde Park Plaza store too. Publix is expanding in Lexington and Louisville, just come up the road a bit more...

To complete the transaction, Kroger and Albertsons expect to make store divestitures, as the two companies have markets where they overlap. Albertsons is prepared to create an Albertsons subsidiary, SpinCo, that would be spun off to Albertsons shareholders prior to merger closing and operate as a standalone public company. Kroger and Albertsons will work together to determine the stores that would make up SpinCo, as well as the pro forma capitalization of SpinCo. It is estimated this new company will have between 100 and 375 stores.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
At least someone else sees it the same. I swear i have been burned at the stake by making my opinion about a third lane between the two cities, similar to what Cleveland and Columbus has now.
-
Ohio: General Business & Economic News
Yeah even though a lot of people on here, hate to hear it, time to add the third lane on 71 between Columbus and Cincinnati. Invest in the existing infrastructure, so we can continue to land larger business developments..

I was told that he wanted it on the sidewalk, but not enough room. He already purchased the bull, so this was the plan B location. I know the man has a massive warehouse full of all his purchases, surprised he wouldnt put it in storage for another location.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
Yeah I wasnt thrilled with the GBBN approach of the department store base of the building. But I am glad to see the roof to be repaired to fix what the last idiot did and puncture the roof and allow massive weather and water into the hotel portion of the building.
