  1. Update: Turner construction has been hired by BIG development the name of Tony Birkla's firm. They are being brought in to secure the shell, and make sure it's waterproof. Fixing the roof and exterior walls. Then they will begin to remediation of all the mold on the interior.
  2. Ruby's new Steakhouse does add a lot of energy and life to the west side of the square. Took a couple photos of the exterior in relation to the site. Kinda odd the bull is tucked away in a little niche
  3. Update: Tristan Eaton LA based visual artist mural coming along, shame no movement on new convention hotel but glad to see this massive blank wall getting some love
  4. Ovation update, hotel has one more floor to frame. The elevator shafts are almost complete for the first set of low rise condo buildings. It looks like they have stalled out on the project and my assumption is delay on steel delivery.
  5. Pittsburgh paid out 3 million for two years of daily service on British Airways to LHR on 787. Indy has set aside paying out 1.8 million a year for a new European route. Like I said I am glad Cleveland has a transatlantic again, but that number is very exorbitant compared to nearby cities in the region.
  6. Wow this is such a bad deal. I am very happy for Cleveland to gain an Intl route, but this cost is just insane.
  7. Yep, Jobs Ohio has given money to CVG in the past for marketing and other efforts to gain additional flight service, since its effects the Southwest portion of Ohio. CVG is very lucky in the fact though we have both Ohio and KY invested in the airport, very strong cargo service, and existing hub service that has only diminished to focus city status.
  8. When you have clients that change time of meetings to earlier instead of later at last minute, then yes it does make sense. The fact of the matter is Cleveland to Columbus three lanes, Columbus to Cincinnati two lanes, it doesnt make sense, and there arent large obstacles in the way of adding an additional lane, to allow passing traffic.
  9. Some will be community terraces and others will be private terraces for the larger more expensive 2 bedroom units in the building. I am sure they still need to install the outdoor deck flooring.
  10. Its never going to happen in Ohio period, the gerrymandering in Ohio has led to a Republican controlled state for years to come. Passenger rail is the last thing the GOP gives a crap about. I travel to Columbus weekly and the third lane isnt going to kill the 3C rail project. I am tried of being stuck behind to tractor trailers driving side by side for ten miles doing 55 mph. This is a weekly occurrence, and you will need a more robust interstate system in the state for logistics anyway if we are going to bring in additional industries like Intel. I know i see all your down votes, but I am speaking the truth here and it sucks. I love train and alternative modes of transportation, but its just not in the cards here in Ohio.
  11. Damn that's a huge amount of money! If true Cleveland and Jobs Ohio got a bad deal. Pittsburgh and Allegheny County only paid 3 million for two years of service to LHR on a Dreamliner. Alot of people in Cincinnati want another international route, this total sets a bad precedent for airlines to use against regions and business communities. I hope that figure is wrong.
  12. I just want a damn third lane at least between Lebanon and Washington Court House. I love the idea of a train but not practical to ride the train to Columbus and there is lack of transportation in the city like there is in Cleveland.
  13. These caps have been talked about since the piers were installed when FWW was re-developed. Hell I was a kid when they first starting talking about them in the late 90s. This isn't something new that came out of nowhere. We just finally have an administration working the right avenues in DC to get money for these projects. We don't need more commercial buildable space above FWW. If the Banks was developed out and all the surface lots around CBD and OTR were being developed, then hell yeah sure lets build on top of FWW. I think the idea and programing of the park event space about FWW to be a great idea and gateway into the city for visitors.
  14. Lack of nicer hotels in Mason has been another sticking point. Most tennis players tend to stay in the city and commute up to Mason during the tournament. I know some Airbnb properties in the north side of the city. The tennis center is very nice, but i don't see the W&S open in Cincinnati much longer. That sucker is going to get moved to Charleston or elsewhere.
  15. Barrett is doing this for a multi-tude of reasons. One, if the tournament does get uprooted out of Cincinnati, he can say he was proactive in trying to save it and make it more viable. Second, he doesnt want the entire tournament on top of FWW, just opening, play in matches, that typically garner smaller crowds. Quiet honestly you could keep the tournament in Mason but do some play in matches downtown to get people interesting who wouldn't normally trek up to mason for the matches. With Carl dead, he is the only big blue blood money in the city anymore. No more Nippert, Corbett, Haile families to make things happen when we need the scales tipped in our favor.
  16. Biggest two issues are housing and schools. You cant have a major influx of companies/people in Columbus, there is a housing shortage for new employees and transplants. Plus you would put stress on school districts not having large enough facilities for school children. If you can spread these support companies for intel around the state you don't stress one cities/regions housing market and school districts. Instead other cities with capacity can take on new companies and people. Its beneficial for the state and other cities that didn't land the big intel facility. The biggest factor I see would be getting the state to make 71 three lanes between Cincinnati and Columbus.
  17. The Hayes Family will never part with the land. Shame because it would be great spot for similar development.
  18. Biggest take away from the article, "Ohio Department of Transportation, which owns the air rights above the highway. That’s another reason to consider a park there – ODOT could want full, fair-market value for the land that would be created if it is not for a public purpose." In other words, it will not be commercial, buildable space because then ODOT will have their hand out for even more cash. Keep it a public park space and they walk away...
  19. Berlin is unique, because its the other major city airport in Germany without a hub presence of any airline. Lufthansa has hubs in Frankfort and Munich, but not Berlin. Unless Condor provides the flight its seems like a very niche route that would struggle with usage between CVG and BER.
  20. Cleveland is paying a large sum of undisclosed money for three years of service from Aer Lingus to Dublin. CVG and the region doesn't pay Delta for the Paris route. If we want another European route, we will have to pay large incentives like Cleveland, and you better believe Delta will want money in their hand too. CVG got lucky a couple years ago with WOW that the region only covered marketing and advertising for the route and nothing else. British Airways is always looking for handouts I.E. Pittsburgh... With the larger American presence now at CVG, British makes the most sense on connectivity for One World, I just don't see it happening without money ponied up.
  21. They want to be in close proximity with the medical centers, university as well as the EPA. NIOSH does alot with the CDC these days hand in hand. It makes sense to consolidate them in this area. Plus even though we are losing this piece of land for NIOSH, we will be gaining new land/property in pleasant ridge and Mount Lookout/East End.
  22. I really don't see MCI, STL, or BDL coming back to be honest. SFO will most likely come back with Asian Markets reopening. I am holding out hope DFW and ORD are brought back by Delta. Hard to fly someone else when you have built up status with another airline.
  23. Yeah sorry the store manager was lying to you unfortunately. Hell even Macys and Dillards have a ranking level for their locations across the country. The Kenwood location started as a B level store and quickly dropped to C level store after opening. Shame it dropped, economy tanking still in 2009 when they opened i am sure didnt help matters. People in Cincinnati tighten purse strings quicker when things get rocky
  24. Under the Nordstrom system of stores Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati are all C level stores, the lowest ring of department stores. Its a well maintained store, but nontheless carries fewer brands and higher quality brands. I would just like to see them get a better buyer in the store since selection is lacking (many of the brand you can find in Kenwood) and they removed men's suiting.
  25. Our team did the repair work at Neiman in Chicago after the riots. The Fendi is a hard shop that opens up outward, but it takes footprint space of Neimans, its a weird hybrid but its technically there own boutique that doesnt run off Neiman POS system or employees. Yes I have feelers out with my contacts at LVMH about the rumors. Just trying to see if they say "hell no", or "well we can really talk about it right now"
