  1. Not 15 stories, 11 stories, but the press releases state that its 92.5 million dollar project.
  2. None of them are breaking ground. Everything under construction is def. under 15 stories at the moment in the region. A lot of speculative rumored projects but nothing confirmed.
  3. Unless they use the Elevar designed convention hotel proposal, i am not certain there has been any large proposed project lately. As mentioned previous W&S might have something up there sleeve but i doubt it at this time.
  4. Well this sounds ugly, but just eliminate 6th street here, and expand northward. The main level increases significantly, all the loading docks can be off Plum Street at 7th. Anyway we all look at and talk about it, our convention center either needs to expand or the city needs to find another money generator. Columbus, Louisville, and Indy have all increased there convention centers over the years, do we need to get that big? No probably not but i have heard from a number of individuals that the convention center is getting passed over even with the interiors being more up to date, because the size just doesnt work for a number of shows and conventions.
  5. Seems like such an odd one off flight. I guess when CLE was a hub, this was a popular destination. I wonder if CMH and CVG who both received unique seasonal routes like CHS, HHI, PNS from United could see routes change to different locations like NAS.
  6. If the BIG12 was smart they would join the "alliance" in the NCAA to secure there place as a power 5 conference. But no matter what the BIG12 is up for grabs, i could see more colleges leaving for other conferences, just like Big East schools jumping to the BIG12 and ACC. I would hope Cincinnati would get invited into the ACC over the BIG12, but there was photos linked online of print outs with UC and BIG12 logos printed on them yesterday.
  7. Yeah North American Development should not have painted the brick at Newport on the Levee. The EIFS along the top half where the AMC is located, sure no problem, but all the brick, black too, cant wait for the sun to fade that beautifully.
  8. To change topics. Its interesting that the article written in cleveland about the banks. Towards the end of the article it discusses the blah or boring architecture. Yet at this moment the asshats are letting the management group paint the existing brick apartment buildings of phase one 50 shades of gray. This trend is driving people like me, an architect, insane. Quit painting brick! The maintenance and upkeep is terrible, and if not properly painted will need to be painted again. Was phase one beautiful? Nope, but the brick is timeless and with minor balcony railing swap outs and new lighting and other accessories, it could continue to look nice for a couple decades. Sorry i needed to vent a second, that paint job is just terrible.
  9. Originally the Garfield was going to be remodeled into a Doubletree Suites about three or four years ago. The developer under estimated the amount of money and investment required. Thought it be cheaper to just update finishes and turn it back into an apartment building. Last I had heard the Doubletree flag was available again for someone else to use downtown.
  10. There were rumors flying around recently that the Daoud Family was brought on board to this project. There was suppose to be some new bar/restaurant concept in the base of the building. I have heard this from more than one source, wish i could find more validity though. Its interesting since Cranley married into the Daoud Family, if they are investing in this building, but not quick enough, could blow up in his new campaign...
  11. Oh Lord, Cant wait to see all the bitching and moaning from the Columbus fan base. That they feel slighted they were passed over for this friendly. I am so tired of our neighbors to the north thinking they deserve everything on a silver platter.
  12. Nope, he has the deep pockets on the south side of the river. Look at all the development around the airport he did in the 90s along with Rivercenter. Only projects outside NKY are the large developments in Denver that they worked on when no one would work for/with Corporex after the Ascent fall out. Corporex also did Baldwin Center development in Walnut Hills/Mount Adams.
  13. Lets be honest Ovation is ugly at best, and the fact that it will be raised off street level, makes me really question the vitality of it truly being an extension of Newport or just another mixed use development 2.0.
  14. It makes me mad when the kids family was with him or her and this still happened. Then they have the balls to blame the vessel ownership / development for not doing enough. "Ah yes you look suicidal before you enter you must be tethered to the vessel railing at all times...
  15. I am afraid that it will be a parking lot for the Phelps and the Lytle hotel, since both are owned by the umbrella company that is Western Southern...
  16. I was just walking by the river about an hour ago, they are warming up and sound checking now. You can hear them clear as day as far back as the Roebling bridge
  17. Say goodbye to the Woodford Building, it's officially no more...
  18. Started applying the exterior panels to fountain place. Going to hold judgement til it's further along.
  19. Cheapside is being redeveloped by the Crown Republic Rosie's team. Heard that the other day.
  20. When did Panera Bread bite the dust? Not a good sign for downtown, hope that things will continue to get better.
  21. I am partial to Delta being based out of CVG. Have they taken the hub away? Yep, but pricing is a lot better and i can still get to a number of locations across the country on one nonstop with Delta. United is my second choice, if i have to fly American I consider driving to my destination instead... United is turning the corner and realizing they need to focus on being a great legacy carrier and not an ULCC like Parker is making American.
  22. Seriously hoping this was someones fun side project, or a college students thesis project. I really hope a design firm didnt produce these renderings or video. If so it might be time to hang it up.
  23. Gelato is definitely not soft serve ice cream. Soft serve typically is non-dairy product that is poured out of machines in cones. Gelato is placed in tubs and then scooped out, making it hard serve
  24. If someone spreads a rumor that John Barrett has a small member, we might get one large tower...
  25. They are building out the weird pie shape space at the corner of Mehring and Elm. I walk by there daily and go WTF did they not address this with the icon center. It just feels like a major afterthought. Also I wonder if the park garage extension is getting the same stone treatment as the phase below Moerlein Lager House. I am assuming that its all on back order, i just hope it wasnt VE out of the project.
