Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Convention center isn't terrible yes it's post modern exterior but it's definitely not the worst in comparable cities. The Millennium complex has a ton of potential and demo/rebuild would be well outside ROI for a city our size. The Hyatt has done amazing steps the past couple years of fully remodeling the property and has become the premier large hotel in the city. Be happy those ugly parking garages are around it right now, that is the area where to convention center will expand and they aren't landlocked in and unable to enlarge if they want to. Pure Romance building use to be Delta's largest call center in the nation so it was a boon in the 90s for the city to get that investment downtown when built. The only major eye sores in the convention center area is Convention place complex SW corner of Fifth and Elm, and the old racquetball complex at the NE corner of Sixth and Elm. I think you need to realize our size of convention center only commands certain conventions at the moment and the push for investment around the area isn't attractive yet. That doesn't mean the CVB and Port aren't working on new hotel and plans for convention center expansion. Because those are both in the works.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
I think the big things that would benefit the casino, will be rebranding. However, Hard Rock has hotels at each casino location, with spas included. There is space for a hotel along the south west side of the building. They typically also have avg. 50k sq. ft. entertainment venues. Some have hard rock cafes, which could easily go in the old Jimmy Buffett location. I just hope they invest in the property and make it similar to the rest of there properties. Would be beneficial to the casino and tax revenue stream.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
Only ones I can remember from childhood with the "suicide lane", were Columbia Pkwy, Beechmont Levy and up Beechmont Hill, and Queen City Ave.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
Well Columbia Pkwy use to have the middle lane go both directions depending on time of day. I know that there were issues later down the road with people not reading the light up signage, but it made things nicer to have three lanes out of the city for evening rush hour.

Yeah except Hathaway's is nasty anymore. I wasn't sad to see them go even though I grew up going there as a kid.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
I have heard from two sources that Dan Meis over promised and under deliver multiple times to the ownership team. The overall design and aesthetic ended up not being what ownership wanted from the design. I can only hope that Populous will create something impactful. My thinking is it will be something that can be paired down and made affordable when construction cost balloon...

We spec'd out Nichiha wood look panels, they came in cheaper than EIFS panels, but the contractor didnt want to hassle with the install so he jacked up his subcontractor install pricing. We got EIFS panels in shades of brown instead...

Hahaha you all crack me up. This is developer driven architecture. Architects get very little leeway with design in this segment, its all low budget dollars on exterior. We just have to try and design something that is aesthetically pleasing, that keeps the client happy. luckily, they are using any brick on the building. The new thing is EIFS panels made to look like brick, or just EIFS panels in colors and shades of brick. I have worked on a number of these projects and architects have the best of intentions but the bank lendor gets involved and wants the exterior VE'd so that cost are brought down and the project meet there idea of R.O.I. Since the city doesn't push for higher quality building materials, developers do as they wish.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
This project has had many owners, architects, and designs. Lets just keep our fingers crossed they can properly enclose the building and save it from the elements.

There is a page for this project in the forum, however at this time seems like they are in permitting at the moment for this project.

I would not get too worked up about this proposal. I like Graham and his work, but this was another proposal that is a couple years old. I cant tell you how many local firms have worked with numerous developers on this site. So much potential but i am not holding my breath on anything happening.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
HBC is not struggling financially. Brookfield is looking into a mutual agreement of building the store out and Saks doing the interior fit out. Happens alot when malls want to attract certain retailers and dept stores. A lot of my knowledge comes from very reliable sources, so I don't always reveal my source. no need to kill the information pipeline.

Not liking the punch out concrete wall along the south facing wall of the residential tower. I was really holding out hope this design would come together better or look more refined from the renderings but i think my fears are becoming true...

You can see the crane nicely from monastery and baum also at the top near the old celestial overlook. The new celestial is nearing completion, hopefully.

Its a shame the new design will remove the glass rainscreen along the annex building. I was an intern working on that project back in the day. It was not a cheap design, or implementation. To be removed with only a life of 12 years is just insane. I really enjoyed the vertical light bars. It helped bring attention to the square at night.

Called it month ago that 3CDC and the Port were working on new hotel at Fifth and Plum. The only speculation i had which Cranley stated was they would remove the skywalk from the Millennium.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
If the Hyatt Ballroom and meeting spaces were drab and outdated, or never booked I could see them parting ways with them until new could be built, but the utilization rate for there rental spaces is very high. Most events at the Convention center do breakout events or post events in the Hyatt over Millennium or Hilton.

It would have to be very unique project, because of the location of the Hyatt Ballroom and conference spaces that sit above the existing Saks store.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Blonde (Eighth & Main)
I was looking yesterday, they all are on the shorter side so at different view points they are blocked by existing buildings. From Mt. Adams you can see 8th and Main and Central/Walnut project cranes.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
Race and Garfield is on indefinite hold. One of the many stalled projects that did Glaserworks in this past year.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
The plan would call for another parking garage to be built between macys and the new saks location. - Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
