  1. Don't quote me on this but there has been conversation, that these two garages come down, and the convention center would expand northward where they existed. Basically double size of the convention center. Span over sixth street similar to what Louisville has done with there downtown convention center. The lot at fifth and plum along with the old convention place building and attached parking garage come down, and a new convention hotel and large capacity parking garage for the convention center goes in its place.
  2. The ones on Rainey street in Austin are nice and all but its near a bunch of bars that don't serve food and typically don't open til 3 or 4 daily to serve the bar crowds in the evening. The food truck park would work in OTR more than CBD if it follows the same model. However if it were something that serves lunch hour, something between the two areas then would be ideal.
  3. Way to go Pendleton CC. Standing up and putting the "Elite Nimby" of OTR CC in their place. Hopefully the appeal will be dismissed. Fingers crossed.
  4. Honestly the past year Hathaway's Diner had gotten to a place of no return even before Frisch's opened up. I took some co-workers in there about six months ago place was dirty, not just dirty tables, but floors, walls, kitchen area. Then the servers didnt want to be there, they were out of everything, and the food that did arrive 40 mins later was inedible. I use to love coming here with my parents and grandparents, the ownership just didnt know how to keep the place going correctly.
  5. The building owner never had enough capital to begin with when he purchased the building. He wanted to put a Doubletree Hotel in the building, when he found out all the work that needed to be done in the building and how he didnt have enough to complete the project, he decided he would turn it into an apartment building. I highly doubt the project has gone anywhere except on hold at this moment.
  6. This worries the hell out of me because if this goes through like Mann wants without thinking of the repercussions. Birkla will just walk away from the building altogether. If he wasnt committed to the building and project we wouldnt be in court about the sale of the building out from under him. He has deep pockets and good intentions with this building.
  7. I am just done with OTR Community Council, every single one of them needs to go sit on a pine cone in the corner. This is a well thought out design, nice density, not extremely tall. Its a major improvement to the surface lots. This development would increase all of their properties more than the parking lot, but who cares because they didnt get the fake brick, applied cornice work to the exterior, and sill style windows with muntin bars.
  8. Everything is made in bond hill at the commissary, then they ship them to the restaurants where they are slathered in bbq and reheated.
  9. Yeah you came in through Garden City and such, the port neighborhoods. Nothing but slums and major drug dealers. It was always known you never went west of the bridge/I-16 not unless you wanted good drugs or a dirty hooker.
  10. You are not alone, but the Gregory family is just clueless, case in point, sat next to Ted Gregory's daughter in law on a flight to Cincinnati while back. I didnt know her at first, but we got to talking next thing you know she is bad mouthing Eli's BBQ, and saying she doesn't understand why people love it so much. I put my foot in my mouth before she told me who she was and i said because everyone knows Montgomery Inn is made off site now and shipped to the stores and reheated. Its terrible quality for the price. I wouldnt feed my dog Montgomery Inn. I am surprised she didnt stab me in the seat...
  11. Sorry Jake, I have to disagree with you, but i lived there 6 years. Outside the historic areas is an amazing ring of Victorian era architecture, outside that ring is Pre WWI homes construction. It truly doesnt become gross sprawl until you go a couple miles outside Victory Drive, even then you have some amazing Post WWII neighborhoods.
  12. There were many unforeseen issues with the project once the first phase of demolition was discovered. At least ownership, stood behind the building and had everything done correctly so that its a lasting project. I was a major critic of this project from the start, but its starting to turn the corner and looks better than expected.
  13. The buses boarded in a entrance near the escalators where customs exits out into concourse B, there is also a small set of escalators by the Sky Club. The plan to extend to C never would have happened, because there was plans to build another terminal and satellite concourse D where terminal 2 use to be located. There would have been a tunnel connecting the new terminal through D to C. This was all done before the bankruptcy and merger.
  14. There was something awhile back about, new entry, dog area, less parking lot more grassy tenant use areas on the corner.
  15. So unofficially the pax numbers are up 17.4% for the 2018 year over last. That puts number over 9.4 million passengers, we are back around 2009 numbers, with continued increases we could hit the 10 million mark for 2019. That's a big goal for the airport to attract new service and even international.
  16. Shhh Napoleon, I mean John Cranley might hear you mock his donors...
  17. One does not always reveal sources, its best to not question information, when it has yet to be released to the general public. However I do know that the brand flag has been acquired and its planned for this site.
  18. So the hotel being proposed at Third and Main by Rolling Hills Hospitality will be Moxy by Marriott. Will be the first for the brand in the tri-state. Its a young hip urban brand, more price sensitive then other brands.
  19. There is a good chance that SREE will just demo, clean out each floor, upgrade exterior and put it on the market. Trust me what they will need to make it a profitable feasible hotel project requires expensive upgrades.
  20. So I have worked on a couple project downtown, including 4th and Walnut. The owners went after JW Marriott and we're blocked by two hotel owner/management companies who are based locally. This project will still be amazing with Canopy by Hilton. Autograph by Marriott at Lytle Park is getting closer to opening finally. Looking forward to the Kimpton at the Traction Building. Kinley Hotel at Jewelers exchange building will be interesting, since there is lack of stairwells and elevators be existing in the building. Same goes for Ingalls Building. SREE is still deciding on if the Ingalls is feasible. The real conversation is will CVB put there foot down on the Millennium, try to buy it, or invest in renovating it as a partnership, or just build a new hotel big enough to be a convention hotel, which is a major financial investment that lets be honest the city and county might not be able to pony up funds as easily
  21. It will be great to see a Tru hotel finally in Cincinnati, especially since it was conceived and developed locally.
  22. The reason why there is a heavy build up in Baltimore, is all the folks that work in DC and commute from Baltimore. I have two friends that live in Baltimore and commute into DC. Housing/Rent prices are alot lower than DC. So there is a pent up demand in the area now, and younger population with DC paychecks spending in Baltimore.
  23. Airport food is like the scene in National Lampoon's Euro trip. They order from a Parisian restaurant and everything is pre-made and frozen, just reheated and served to them. Well airport food vendors are all owned and operated by the same company HMS Host. Most of the time the sit down restaurants have the same pre-made food just different names on the menu and served up to you with a jacked up price.
  24. See what could be interesting is the new backer for Wow is Indigo Partners that has major stakes in Frontier (USA), Volaris(Mexico, Caribbean) Wizz (Europe). If they were to invest and create codesharing and partnering with each other. Wow could come to cities where Frontier has a bigger presence like Cincinnati to shuttle folks to Iceland and Europe beyond that then could connect on Wizz. Frontier passengers wanting transatlantic would have the option finally, WOW might get bigger boost in full planes.
  25. Well Cranley should not have thrown emergency cash towards his buddies in Oakley for the upgrades pedestrian bridges the way he did. Its not the full amount needed for the cities portion of the garage construction, but he definitely creates major issues that dont need to exist.
