  1. 6th and Sycamore is still happening, will be another hotel as well.
  2. Could we send all the naysayers and Margy Waller on a three hour tour out to sea... We will just end up with crappy brick front face facade two story buildings from Towne Properties all over OTR if they had there way.
  3. Wow, prominent location along Madison Ave, and we have this ho hum design that doesn't reflect the surrounding neighborhood program. Single family townhomes dont exist through this stretch of Oakley. There should have been lease able space on the ground floor. Well NIMBY got what they wanted, could have been a great addition to the neighborhood. It looks cheap in the rendering i can only imagine after pricing comes back and value engineering plays a part what the final product will truly look like.
  4. Yeah, thanks..... Ironically, by hunting down and attracting BA to LHR, PIT killed its no-longer-being subsidized DL route to CDG. BA was the smarter move in PIT though, considering the heavy amount of One World members with American/US old hub. CLE should go after Lufthansa with all the Star Alliance folks in CLE.
  5. I feel for you all in Cleveland. You all lost a lot more service from United then CVG did from Delta. However, its been very difficult the past year or so for the Airport board here to attract more service beyond the low hanging fruit of LCC. I would say you all did get Iceland Air, which is nice addition compared to WOW here in CVG. I unfortunately think that for either city to get TATL service we as business communities are going to have to pony up cash as incentive for service. Indy did it for Delta with service to CDG, Pittsburgh did with Delta and is now doing it for British. CVG has been lucky to have Delta to CDG, and its lucrative because of the aviation cargo between Cincinnati and Airbus in Toulouse, France. If we didnt have GE aviation that route would have disappeared as well...
  6. September 28, 2018 last scheduled flights. Will not be returning as a seasonal, will be discontinued instead.
  7. Finally something other than IPAs. I know there are a number of people who enjoy them. But seems like every brewery does IPAs in Cincinnati. Give me something different to enjoy.
  8. How many of those people flying from Cincinnati to Nashville were just connecting through Nashville? Cincinnati to Nashville is only a four hour drive. Most people are not going to pay for a flight when it would only take four hours to drive unless work is paying. Even then, many people would chose to rent a car and drive or expense the mileage. This seems like a sensible move by Delta. Nashville 45 mins by plane, with most business travelers like myself i am through TSA in under ten minutes. I am maybe hour and half to two hours traveling compared to four or five to Nashville by car. I could easily fly down in morning and back. Time is valuable and driving down 65 between Louisville and Nashville is a nightmare. Plus who is connecting in Nashville? Nashville isnt a hub or a focus city. It would be the other way around and I have seen a number of folks on the evening flight going to Cincinnati to catch a connection. If the planes load percentages were low I could understand, but they were in the high eighties low nineties. Hell earlier in the year they upgraded the aircraft to a CRJ900 from CRJ700
  9. Well some bad news to report out of the airport. Delta is quietly getting rid of direct service to Nashville. I am really surprised that this route is being dropped. I used it often for work and the CRJ900 was always full. Between this route and Memphis my work travel has now doubled in time. Another note WOW has decided to go seasonal in Cincinnati instead of going year round. Shame CLE get IcelandAir year round and we are subject to seasonal service with WOW. Still waiting to see what new food service offerings will come to CVG. Hell CLE just landed a shake shack in there terminal...
  10. I know this sounds like an asshole comment, but I could careless about this music venue. They need to focus on Lot 24 and getting that developed.
  11. Additional construction fencing and dumpsters went up outside traction building today along fourth street. Looks like work is starting to progress on this project as well.
  12. Construction fencing went up today, and delivery of dumpster arrives next week. New owners are emptying out the building and preparing it for new construction/renovation.
  13. So not sure if this has been discussed or not about the Bird Scooters. What happens in the winter? Does bird collect the scooters, and drop them again when weather is nice in the Midwest? Ended up riding one for the first time yesterday, overall really liked being able to get around downtown quickly and meet a friend for lunch in OTR. Rode one after work and realized it might go up some hills but it didn't like Monastery up Mt. Adams
  14. Small crumbs are starting to come our way but we have a lot of work to still do... http://www.mtv.co.uk/travel/news/cincinnati-the-most-underrated-city-in-the-world
  15. So within the hospitality industry there is big discussion about 21c Hotel now becoming part of Accor. Now many of you would say what does this have to do with international travel? Well alot actually, it puts a large European based hotel chain in our city. It gives European travelers more enticing reason to connect in Cincinnati because its part of Accor than say some of our American based hotel chains. I think we are just starting to see small crumbs right now, but if we as a city keep going in the right direction, i think we could become an American tourist destination that is affordable compared to other cities in the US. Its similar to how Americans like myself enjoy Krakow, Budapest, and Prague because they are nice and cheap compared to Paris, London, or Amsterdam. I dont think we are going to get a London flight very quickly though. Pittsburgh is giving 1.5 million a year for two years to British Airways to have the flight to London. Cincinnati would probably need to do very similar. However it I was CVG i would try Virgin Atlantic over British Airways. Virgin Atlantic is part of Delta and Sky Team and would have a better chance of success with the heavy Sky miles community in the tri-state over British Airways which is One World and does not have a huge business presence in CVG
  16. They have removed the camp by the south entrance of Lytle Tunnel across from US Bank Arena.
  17. You might be able to get David Mann on a good day, but cant count him as a definite. I liked Dennard when she was campaigning, but starting to regret having voted for her. This is something she could get behind but seems to be wavering from the rest of the democrats on a number of items lately for her own agenda.
  18. The camp by lytle tunnel under 71 was still going strong at 830 am. They are suppose to be moved out as well.
  19. Only thing is general admission has been sold out for the game since Monday, unless you can find someone to sell you there tickets...
  20. It will front Hammond Street. You will probably see it sticking out visually from Second street than Third Street
  21. Why do you say "limited service"? The plans show a restaurant, bar, and kitchen on the first floor and a rooftop bar. Doesn't the inclusion of a restaurant and kitchen - by definition - mean it'll be "full service"? Due to the complexity of construction (combining historic with new construction) and the location, I suspect they'll be charging pretty high prices per room. The term "boutique hotel" is much more nebulous, so I don't really want to argue whether or not it'll be a "boutique" (for what its worth, their plans call it a "boutique" hotel). Because when our firm or any firm goes in for a project like a hotel, we call it boutique instead of calling it by the brand name of the property, in case there is an issue with franchisee agreements. I have looked at the plans posted a couple times now with a couple of colleagues, it still fits in the limited service brand segment. The kitchen is not big enough by size to have a significant capacity of food or menu. Which means this kitchen is prepping and making breakfast and manager happy hour items, maybe small appetizers to be sold at the bar in the evening. For instance Aloft is limited service, but has a kitchen to produce grab and go items at breakfast and evening snacks for the xyz prototype bar. Homewood Suites, Residence Inn has a kitchen to produce hot breakfast, and small dinner items Monday-Thursday. However these three brands just to name a few are considered limited service brands in the hospitality industry. Also being that i have worked for projects in historical areas (Savannah, Charleston) before doesn't mean it cant have a facade like the existing buildings on Main but be a lower end brand like Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn etc. Owners/Developers typically get better ROI on these brands even if they spend a bit more saving some historic storefronts for the right location. I have worked in this industry for ten years now and I am giving urbanohio my informative thoughts on this project.
  22. 93 room hotel. Hi5 Development is working on the project with City Studios Architecture. I highly doubt Hi5 is going to go the boutique route with a property its just not there typical business plan. I would assume it would be a limited service brand that isnt represented in the downtown/southbank area.
  23. Just a crazy thought here this also relates to the homeless issue on third street, but what is going to happen during Oktoberfest? Its one of the biggest events for the city and having the homeless camped out along the festival path should make for some interesting issues coming up...
  24. Josh Spring gets under my skin he is only there to drum up the media and drama. He is never there to create lasting solutions. Biggest issue with many of the homeless is there are rooms at shelters and clinics for drug addiction. However many dont want to give up there life choices to try and better themselves in the long run. Another issue is many have mental issues, and since on a federal level mental health spending has been cut over the years the resources are just not as great for those with mental problems.
  25. I have old scanned prints of the original construction documents. I just need to remember where i moved them, or which external hard drive i saved them on. Once i can find the detail i will post it.
