  1. We here in Cincinnati will take Ryan Day. Since Fickell just skipped town for Wisconsin. No one can understand how you turn down ND last year and are basically next in line for OSU job and you go to Wisconsin. We love being dumped every four years or so for something flashier, we have just learned to deal with it.
  2. Oh no doubt in my mind within the year or two American will make some call out that CVG will be a focus city for them. When I think of cities that American would connect CVG to that's what becomes a thinker. They have service to all major hubs except LAX, maybe service to Portland for Alaska connectivity? Or just go from more Eagle flights to mainline.
  3. Kansas City, San Francisco, and Nashville would be my top picks. I miss that direct on Continental to CLE and with Ultimate Air no longer running connection isn't that easy now. I really thought Delta would follow through with their announcement about restoring service to ORD, DFW, and SFO. Looks like they are just moving on instead...
  4. How old are you ? Calling someone a fool that travels weekly for work, for my observation. I wouldn't have guessed let alone anyone else in the business community that British was coming to CVG. They backed out of STL and IND deals and the way the Aer Lingus deal happened at CLE there was no way we were going to land British
  5. Lots of chatter and fan fare at CVG this afternoon, still surprised we landed British Airways
  6. This make sense with American ramping up service and city offerings at CVG. I just cant see BA 5x week on 787 but maybe there is a big incentive package that no one knows about...
  7. Trust me I don't want another LCC but that's what seems to be the winning formula for CVG as of lately. I just wish Delta would restore service pre-covid.
  8. CVG will get a new airline https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2022/11/15/cvg-will-get-a-new-airline.html Money is on Avelo, or Spirit. Its nothing sexy, but another low budget carrier for CVG. I just cant see an international airline anytime soon to the airport. Play would be a good option but i doubt it. Aer Lingus is out of the equation with CLE picking them up. West Jet possibly, but would there be enough demand to Western Canada for them? Mexican aviation grade prevents any airline from Mexico coming to CVG.
  9. Well as discussed on here before. There is good chance for Omni, Loews brands. Marriott is tricky, they have the city saturated at the moment and the big Marriott is across the river. They typically would not cannibalize another brand and property so close. Not sure we would see a JW Marriott, based on price point for rooms.
  10. Not sure you have seen new Hilton properties as of lately, but they are anything but boring. Cleveland, Columbus, the new one in Indy being built all are fantastic properties. I would be completely fine with a Hilton Signia hotel as our convention property.
  11. Scariest portion of this entire article is Hilton pulling the property off their reservations system. We really don't need another Millennium, Terrace Plaza Hotel situation in the city.
  12. Ah sh*t, I fail at "I Spy" today... Thanks for pointing it out.
  13. The design isn't bad, I use the park often now, but where is Lincoln going?

Gotcha, love when the business courier writes it up incorrectly. I thought 2x per week seemed more reasonable than 2x a day. Thanks for clarification. I dont think 2x a week will pull alot from CVG though, with Allegiant, Frontier, SWA, and Delta all offer flights to Orlando from CVG.
  15. Yes, but you would hear the out cries if they close Central to expand westward, you need that continuous main floor space to be competitive, so if not Elm then Central. Will be interesting in 10-15 years from now to see what really happens.

Two daily flights to MCO? Is there really that many people in DAY traveling to MCO daily? I am surprised that they wouldn't do another city on the same day. Morning flight to and from MCO and then late afternoon flight to another destination in FL or elsewhere.
  17. I hope the property gets more than just an FF&E remodel, for the sake of the city and the convention business in Dayton. This property needs some serious upgrades and love, paint, carpet, and wallpaper only cover a sloppy ole pig for long...
  18. She is a tall old gal, just gets dwarfed by the Carew Tower. Would probably look taller if standing alone like the Columbus Hilton.
  19. Shame that frequency wont go up on the route even in the summer. I am convinced that those still in leadership at Delta would love to see CVG just disappear. Problem is there is a large loyal traveling base in this region. They just have a terrible love affair with the NE ie LGA, JFK, and BOS.
  20. The new Hilton Columbus tower, is a great example of just that. Was there last week for a convention. The ballroom spaces of the new Hilton tower flowed seamlessly between the convention center and the hotel. Seemed like a great layout and design. If you truly werent paying attention you wouldnt realize you were in the hotel and not the convention center.
  21. For convention center hotels, especially "the" convention hotel, its expected they be directly connected to each other. Every major convention center has the convention hotel directly next to it or connected via a skywalk. I am not too upset by bringing one back if it mean booking more conventions...
  22. Stay away from Newcrest Image, that team/company will not be the best candidate. In speaking of design. The Matthew Southwest design, appeals the most to me, nice height, the angled west wall is unique and doesnt match any other buildings downtown. We need some height on this side of downtown. The rest feel like a safe boring conservative design. I want Hilton Cleveland or Columbus, give me something sexy, not ho hum.
  23. Yep this is the start for the new Moxy Hotel by Marriott. They are keeping the building facades along Main Street and demo'd the buildings themselves, will be constructing a new building behind the preserved street facades. It will butt up to the Pure Romance building and Fort Washington Capital building (70's glass facade building)
  24. I walked through the building about three or four years ago, the mold was really bad on the upper guest room floors, to the point, where we didnt walk due to potential inhalant dangers. Structure of the building was still in good condition then, its just the steel cage structure above is badly damaged from the last "wrecking crew" they cut down steel members and cross bracing, just basically butchered the structure.
  25. Yes the last owners, removed the brick facade off the steel structure a couple years ago, puncturing the roof of the building. Since then the elements have been raining down and through the hotel tower of the building. Last I was told the steel structure is an imminent danger of collapsing, so Turner and a group of engineers are best deciding to either remove completely or try and secure on the roof better.
