  1. How bout no? Why do taxpayers have to front the bill for a renovation that’s going to cost significantly more than a new building elsewhere.
  2. ARPA allocations were announced today. These grants originate from the American Rescue Plan passed in March and are meant to ease the financial burden on airports during COVID. Cincinnati - $42 mil Cleveland Hopkins - $36.7 mil Columbus - $31.3 mil Akron-Canton - $5.2 mil Dayton - $8.7 mil Rickenbacker - $4 mil https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/aoc.web.management/viz/ARPA_Allocations2021/ARPA2021
  3. CBIZ isn't the type of company to want to locate in a diverse/open minded setting if you know what I mean.
  4. I believe this would go to the Supreme Court of Ohio because this map could only be passed with the simple majority option. If that is the case, I believe Democrats could easily make the case this map is in violation of this requirement. (3) If the general assembly passes a congressional district plan under division (C)(1) of this section by a simple majority of the members of each house of the general assembly, and not by the vote described in division (C)(2) of this section, all of the following shall apply: (a) The general assembly shall not pass a plan that unduly favors or disfavors a political party or its incumbents. https://www.legislature.ohio.gov/laws/ohio-constitution/section?const=19.01
  5. IBM brings its Quantum System One to the Cleveland Clinic Cleveland Clinic and IBM declined to detail the cost of the quantum system being installed on the clinic's campus, but representatives from both organizations called it a "significant investment." https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/30/tech/ibm-cleveland-clinic-quantum-computing/index.html
  6. This would be illegal under the reform passed in 2018. Only 5 counties can be split into 2 districts in the upcoming redistricting. It looks like Dave split Cuyahoga and Franklin into three (Maybe four in Franklin, can't really tell).
  7. As someone whose worked there and seen the 2020 financial statements, it’s frankly disgusting. Like I’m talking higher than Apple profit margins. I understand evolving business needs but if your gonna fire someone, at the very least schedule a one on one with someone from HR. It’s just so disheartening.
  8. On the press conference I watched, I heard the overall investment is $565 million. A little over $200 million is from state enterprises such as JobsOhio. Over $300 million from Cleveland Clinic and the rest sprinkled in from the various other institutions.
  9. Plans for Lake Erie wind farm clear a major hurdle, as ‘poison pill’ restriction is lifted https://www.cleveland.com/open/2020/09/plans-for-lake-erie-wind-farm-clear-a-major-hurdle-as-poison-pill-restriction-is-lifted.html This news is so exciting. This means jobs for our region. This will support jobs at our local steel mills. They have committed to training local Ohioans to become technicians for the turbines. They also plan to open their North American headquarters here. JOBS JOBS JOBS
  10. Am I correct to assume the project cost is more like $750m because it doesn't include the $40m grant from JobsOhio and smaller grants from the county & city? Maybe they're only including SHW's cost for the project?
  11. I think our low response rate has to do with abandoned properties. I don't believe the census is withdrawing properties with no occupants so our response rate seems lower than most. This would make sense as Detroit and Newark suffer from the same problem.
  12. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bostonglobe.com/2020/05/27/business/ge-sells-its-historic-lighting-business-cape-cod-company/%3foutputType=amp I believe they just mean that NELA Park will now be owned by Savant.
  13. The saga continues... TownHall Sues Scene Over Report on GM's Bigoted Statement to Former Employee: "Go Back to the Country You Came From” https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2020/05/21/townhall-sues-scene-over-report-on-gms-bigoted-statement-to-former-employee-go-back-to-the-country-you-came-from?utm_source=feature&utm_medium=home&utm_campaign=hpfeatures&utm_content=HomeTopFeature
  14. Ok? Add 30 million for inflation and remember that building received no subsidies. If my representatives are gonna hand them a $100 million dollar check, you best believe i'm gonna sit here and judge a building with $270m in construction costs (Although not including Brecksville). All I'm saying is SHW better pull through and build a HQ that Cleveland deserves since we invested so much into them.
  15. I agree although I doubt that building in Denver received over $100m in grants and even more in low interest financing from the local gov. For the amount taxpayers have invested, I don’t want a building looking like that on public square.
