  1. I was told (from a ranking member of the county) that the new justice center would likely only have several hundred cells for very short-term holdings. The jail would be moved out of the city center.
  2. That's disappointing. While I don't know if a movie theater is the answer, east bank badly needs some variety down there.
  3. Did I read that photo caption right? The updated phase 3 won't include a movie theater?
  4. I still see a for sale sign on that AT&T building on the corner of 9th and lakeside. This could maybe get that rolling. I still think it would be neat to add the penthouse on top of the erieview tower, but my guess is that wouldn't qualify under any historic tax credits?
  5. Does Goldberg own the whole parcel from prospect to Euclid? It sure would be nice to see both sides of that parking deck get development - including a new or renovated parking deck.
  6. I could see that Falafel building coming down and parking going right there followed by hospital expansion on the surface lots backing up to the metroparks
  7. Fairview Hospital touts recent U.S. News & World Report rankings While it's awesome to see our local hospital do so well in the rankings, the thing that really struck me came in the last paragraph of the article. “There’s a big strategic plan for Fairview Hospital still on the drawing board,” Smith said. “There will be an expansion of a considerable amount of the Fairview campus going forward.” https://www.cleveland.com/community/2019/08/fairview-hospital-touts-recent-us-news-world-report-rankings.html Very interesting... There happens to be a vacant building and plenty of surface parking for expansion plans
  8. Anyone have an idea of the retail they are targeting for that portion of the project?
  9. Anything new on Market Square - is it a go? When should we expect demolition to begin? I noticed a handful of retailers have vacated.
  10. Is this the one that will yield surface parking? if it is - that's a shame. But in my 29 years, I can't recall there ever being anything there. Any history of that building?
  11. SHW building on that lot makes too much sense. CLE needs this to happen if we want this boom to continue.
  12. These are clearly geared towards 20-30 somethings, who have largely been under served in the rental market downtown. I bet they'd lease up quicker than phase 2.
  13. Any idea on when the 'fish shacks' will break ground? It's been pretty dead silent on that front
  14. Looks like Playhouse Square will be home to the city's first medical marijuana dispensary - due to open tomorrow, August 1. I thought the George's were in on this - or do they just own the buildings that they will be housed in? The same outfit will operate the two locations in Lakewood, both currently under construction. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/07/30/1894089/0/en/Green-Thumb-Industries-GTI-Opens-Rise-Cleveland-the-City-s-First-Cannabis-Store-and-GTI-s-Third-Retail-Location-in-Ohio-on-August-1.html
  15. I was intrigued to see that Google's head of cloud is the keynote speaker at the upcoming Solutions Conference. Perhaps there is something to this...
  16. Will all units have balconies?
  17. So they intend to close off Prospect to vehicles? Do you suspect it would just be between 2nd and 3rd streets or more?
  18. It really is an ugly blemish to an otherwise amazing vantage point. While cruising down the river yesterday, I couldn't help but think how critical the Thunderbird and Irishtown Bend projects are. Those two projects would completely transform how people think of Cleveland (especially visitors).
  19. Nice density shot from the river on Sunday - also the Rock's new glass atrium.
  20. This is great news. One step closer to activating our greatest assets.
  21. I think it means apartment building sales. A vast majority of market rate apartment developers will design and build (or value add redevelop), lease it up then turn around and sell for big multiples less than 5 years from deal commencement. Citymark for example, does value add re-positioning, and looks to be in and out within 3-5 years.
  22. I'm not concerned with this. They sold their building so they probably had to get out of there. NuCLEus, even if started in 2019, won't be ready to move in to until 2022 I'm guessing. It's hard to be hopeful on this project in general though...
  23. Just from what I have heard from someone on the inside. I don't think they want to compete with themselves there and also the Thunderbird site.
  24. Retail OMG! No IKEA, but something... https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/06/dgx-dollar-generals-hipper-smaller-concept-store-opens-in-downtown-cleveland.html
