<b>Rise & Dine Adds $5 Value Menu to Lunch</b> By Walker | March 16, 2009 <img src="http://www.columbusunderground.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/risedine.jpg"> The fast-growing, breakfast-lunch chain Rise & Dine Restaurants, Inc. announced today that it is reviving the original “value menu” with meals inspired by the Chicago-style hot dog. “The value menu was not just a fast food chain idea,” Joe Deavenport, Rise & Dine Restaurants co-owner and COO, said. “It was an invention of the entrepreneurial hot dog street vendors that roamed Chicago during the Great Depression. <b>New Dagwood Challenge Champion: Mark Lyle</b> By Walker | March 21, 2009 <img src="http://www.columbusunderground.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/dagwood.jpg"> Roughly a year ago, a group of Columbus Underground regulars set out to complete “<a href="http://www.columbusunderground.com/the-dagwood-challenge-video">The Dagwood Challenge</a>” at The Ohio Deli on the south side of Columbus. Seven valiant men completed the task: to eat the massive Dagwood sandwich with a side of fries in under 30 minutes. Zach “Cyclist” Henkel finished first that day with a time of 11 minutes, but no one was able to break the record holder Josh Matko who finished the sandwich in 6 minutes. <b>Welcome to the Greenest House in the Midwest</b> By Walker | March 16, 2009 <img src="http://www.columbusunderground.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/greenhome.jpg"> A newly built residence located at 258 N. 21st Street, in the NoBo development area of the King Lincoln District, was just awarded its LEED Platinum certification by the USGBC. <b>That makes it the first LEED Platinum residential home not only in the state of Ohio, but in the entire Midwest.</b> Several weeks ago I was invited to tour the home by Roger Beck, a local Technology Education teacher at Worthington Kilbourne High School who helped to build the home along with students of the college preparatory Home B.A.S.E. (Building Academic Skills and Experiences) class. It was on Sunday, March 1st when I walked over to take a look at this new home. I remember the morning well as it a mere 20 degrees outside, yet quite sunny. It made for a chilly 10 minute walk, but the stroll down a forgotten section of brick-laid East Spring Street through the middle of the King Lincoln District was otherwise rather pleasant. At first glance, 258 N. 21st looks quite similar to the other new new NoBo homes recently built along this beautiful street. In fact, two doors down there’s a home built with the same base floorplan. I think Town can still be a nice ped/bike friendly street without the extra auto traffic that a re-opened bridge would provide.

I'll have more details on this project soon. We may see some legislation at City Hall in the next month or two.

I wasn't entirely sold at first on Neighborhood Launch, but it's quickly become one of my favorite developments in the whole city. :D

Well, considering NRI has more apartments planned to the North of the Arena, I imagine these are offices to compliment then. I'm of the mindset that you can't be too picky with how other people are spending their money. ;) I'm just glad that Nationwide is investing in Columbus AND investing downtown. This whole area would be nothing without them.

Our timing may not have been ideal - sub zero temperatures are not prime taco tasting weather, but undaunted we visited 13 taco trucks and ate almost our body weight in lengua, huaraches and carne asada.
