1. Shadowbox’s Backstage Bistro Now Open By Walker | May 17, 2011 3:30pm Shadowbox Live is one step closer to relocating from Easton to the Brewery District. Last week, their Backstage Bistro softly launched as a daytime coffee shop, offering Crimson Cup coffee to neighboring businesses and residents who are looking for their caffeine fix. Eventually, the Bistro will be expanded to offer lunch, dinner and a full service bar. READ MORE: http://www.columbusunderground.com/shadowboxs-backstage-bistro-now-open
2. I believe they kept some of the walls so that they would be "making a structural improvement" rather than a full demolition and rebuild. Lets them skirt some of the normal permits and processes. Same thing is going on with the old Michael's Goody Boy in the Short North. Was strange to see it 75% demo'ed and one or two walls still standing in the middle of the rubble.

4. Which ones were closed? We hit the new Burgers Dogs & Fries in the park itself on Saturday. There were also 4 or 5 food carts and trucks and tables set up with offerings from 3 Babes & A Baker, Mojo Tago, Mikey's Late Night Slice, Graeter's and more. I also saw the Cheesey Truck on Sunday. ;)
5. Wedgewood Pizza Comes to Columbus By Chris Blazakis | January 11, 2011 For those who haven’t heard, a Wedgewood Pizza shop recently opened in Grove City. Now, I must disclose before even beginning this review that I have a certain bias. I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, home of Wedgewood Pizza, and consider myself to be a huge fan of this hometown favorite. Wedgewood was a Friday night tradition with my family, and I have many fond memories of enjoying a slice while watching Sunday afternoon football. My hope is not only that this pizzeria thrives in Grove City, but that it is so successful that it expands to other metro areas - including downtown Columbus. 6. Hubbard Grille Opens in The Short North By Walker | December 31, 2010 One of the most talked about restaurant renovations throughout 2010 will officially be coming to life in just two more weeks. Hubbard Grille, located at 793 North High Street in the former Rosendale’s location is currently in the process of preparing for their grand opening on Friday, January 7th. The experience at Hubbard Grille is being described as “modern Americana” with a focus on comfort and quality. Their menu will feature local and organic choices, including a southern-style, truffle oil fried chicken and a Short North Cobb Salad with a creamy avocado dressing. Ha! Thanks. ;) I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up! ;)
8. Agreed. It may have been true in the 80s and most of the 90s, but not so much any more. Having gone to school for a degree in Interactive Multimedia Technology from 2000-2003 and working various jobs in the creative sector from 2003-2007 (mostly graphic design & web design but also doing some video edited, flash animation, light programming and scripting, and plenty of digital photography) I personally found that both educational and real-world environments mostly use a mix of both Windows and Mac platforms. That may not be the case for some creative firms that work more exclusively on either PC or Mac, but generally speaking, Photoshop is Photoshop and PSD files have generally played pretty nice cross-platform for over a decade now. I'm sure the same holds true for most creative software. When it comes to creative professionals, the Mac VS Windows debate is primarily a personal preference-based argument rather than a functionality-based argument. You can easily accomplish the same tasks on both platforms with (generally) the exact same software.
9. Have you ever been inside? The Thurber Bar is actually pretty nice. Very unique to Columbus with the namesake and being in the Westin makes it quite a bit nicer than your average "Hotel Bar".

14. Picking Kacey Brankamp’s Brain Frequently Asked Questions — By Melanie McIntyre on November 3, 2010 Kacey Brankamp knows the ins and outs of downtown Columbus’s retail scene like it’s her job. Actually, as retail recruiter for the Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District, it is her job. “I play a matchmaker role with business owners and available space, but I don’t ‘do deals’ or earn a commission like a leasing agent or broker,” says Brankamp. She contends there is a large, unmet demand for retail services, but due to the long, painful and very public death of City Center, there is a negative perception of downtown’s retail health. I live in Columbus and practically straddle the line between the King Lincoln District and Downtown. My office is Downtown as well, which is pretty much my second home and stomping grounds. The King Lincoln District has treated us very well though. Extremely close to Downtown with easy accessibility to everything, extremely affordable historic homes (that we just had appraised for refinancing and the value has gone up 60% in 3 years with minimal work on it so far) and a promising future.

22. Hope that Wood Cos. development isn't too much of a construction hassle for businesses that choose to stay in their first floor spaces during the build-out process. Paradise Garage and the Jazz Arts Group have both moved, but I think zpizza and Northstar will stay.
