Ha! Thanks. ;) Yeah, I'm sure it would be easy to come up with 100 good ideas for this space. Getting the right money and people behind one of those ideas is a whole other story. ;) Personally, I'd rather see properties located closer to the city redeveloped with those good ideas first. It doesn't seem like too many people are suffering too much from the current state of The Continent. It could probably sit vacant for another 30 years and it wouldn't make a huge difference.
2. Loops at King/NW open for biz Wed. 11AM! By AMEEKER Two brothers from Chicago are bringing their authentic Greek food to our little corner of Columbus, and am I glad they did! Loops is at the corner of King and Northwest in Fifth by Northwest, and officially opens Wednesday, September 8 at 11AM. We had the opportunity to stop in to their soft opening tonight. Andrew, treated my husband, my daughter and I to dinner. I had a steak gyro with feta, my husband had a lamb gyro. YUM-O! Here’s a quick video interview with Andrew, and some photos of our tasty food! If you stop by on Wednesday, tell them you saw them on 5xnw.com! 3. Review: Piada Italian Street Food By columbusfoodie | September 7, 2010 3:00pm Depending on who you speak to, it can be argued that the name “Piada Italian Street Food” is a little misleading; after all, with such a bustling and quickly growing street food scene here in Columbus, there’s an almost unwritten expectation that our street food be, you know - actually served on the street, out of a cart, taco truck, or even in an obviously ethnic store front tucked away in an otherwise long forgotten strip mall in what used to be the burbs but are now huge ethnic strongholds. 4. Thanks! ;) Brian is a really nice guy and it was fun to sit down and chat with him for a bit before the day's events.
5. With the North Market essentially operating at full capacity and with it being totally sustainable and independent of city funding, I think it's time to consider a second location. Bring on the "East Market". ;)

The biggest difference is that Easton has the backing of a local guy worth $2.6 billion. As long as Easton is controlled by Wexner, he'll continue to rehab and renovate and upgrade before he lets it spiral downward. If anything, I think Tuttle Mall (owned by an out-of-town group) will fail before Easton will.
7. Ideas Sought for Franklin Park Trolley Barn Project By ScottUlrich | August 31, 2010 The Columbus Compact Corporation is seeking interested community members to help plan and execute the redevelopment of the Franklin Park Trolley Barn facility, located at the northeast corner of Oak Street and Kelton Avenue, just one block south of Franklin Park on the Near East Side. As part of this effort, the Compact is organizing a group of interested and concerned stakeholders, called Friends of Franklin Park Trolley Barn, which has a page on Facebook. Anyone is encouraged to join this group and support this critical redevelopment effort. READ MORE: http://www.columbusunderground.com/ideas-sought-for-franklin-park-trolley-barn-project
8. What’s Next: New Visions for the Clinton Theater By Eliza Ho | August 30, 2010 3:40pm An architecture exhibition titled What’s Next: New Visions for Clinton Theater features the drawings and plans of three concepts that envision the future of the historic Clinton Theater and its adjacent properties, all of which are now facing impending demolition. Conceived and created by Columbus-based architect, Tim Lai, the three proposed concepts seek to transform the theater’s site into a community-focused space and (re)create a landmark in the Clintonville neighborhood. 9. Grandview Yard Opens Phase One Today By Walker | September 1, 2010 1:40pm Grandview Yard first announced Phase 1 of their 90 acre development in Grandview Heights in July of 2009, and that phase is celebrating the grand opening tonight with a community open house between 6pm and 8:30pm. We sat down this morning with Brian Ellis, President and COO of Nationwide Realty Investors to talk about the new development and take a tour of the completed site. 10. New Restaurant Coming Soon to Wexner Center By Walker | August 29, 2010 10:30am The cafe space located inside the Wexner Center has been operated by the Cameron Mitchell Catering Company as “Cam’s on Campus” for the past three and a half years, although the concept came to a recent close in August. The Wexner Center is currently in the final stages of selecting a new local operator for the cafe. Rumor has it that a variety of proposals were submitted from places including Northstar Café, Mozart’s Bakery, The Betty’s Family of Restaurants, Taste of Belgium Waffles, Omega Artisan Baking and even Whole Foods. One thing we do know for certain is that Taste of Belgium will be temporarily operating the cafe with a mobile setup starting on Monday, August 30th and running for the next two weeks. Their hours will be from 8am to 2pm and their menu will be limited and focused on coffee and waffles. The announcement on the winning proposal and new cafe operator is expected to be made sometime in the coming week. When were these photos taken? Nice! ;)
12. Actually, the original rock fountain was run all winter long and this one is being planned for the same. From the CU interview: Malcolm Cochran: Since the very early days of the park there had been some kind of vertical rock structure. This no longer exists as it was removed a long time ago, but I do remember another one that was removed in 1995, which was sort of a conical beehive-shape of rocks with a pump and a spout coming out of the top. During the summer it wasn’t all that interesting, but during the winter it made these phenomenal ice forms because it continued to run all winter. It was taken down in 1995 basically because the rockwork fell apart. Part of getting this new fountain project going was to replace that older rockwork piece.
13. Yankee Cajun Food Truck Setting up Downtown By Walker | August 25, 2010 2:30pm Yankee Cajun is the latest destination food cart to make their Downtown debut, which will take place on September 7th. According to their twitter profile, they are all about “bringing the flavors of the French Quarter and Cajun country to foodies in Columbus”. They will be setting up near the corner of Gay Street and High Street next to the 3 Babes and a Baker Cupcake Truck. 14. One other thing I forgot to mention... there's a new Jimmy John's opening up the street from RiverSouth, about a block and a half north of where all of these new apartments are wrapping up. I imagine it will mostly cater to the 9-to-5 office crowd, but perhaps they'll consider some weekend hours if they can fill those 206 units with around 300 new residents. ;)
15. Yeah, after walking around there it definitely feels like something in between offices in the Arena District and offices at Easton. Not that it's a bad thing. It's definitely an improvement over the abandoned Big Bear warehouse. ;)
16. Are you talking about the area immediately east of the current construction? That's probably the second half of Bishop's Walk. It will be one building when completed, but they halved it for construction so that they could start selling units in one before moving on to the second half. Smart move to build piece by piece when the market is tough.
17. Two more of the wide open area immediately east of Phase 1. Ready for Phase 2?
18. The community open house for the project is in two weeks, so you can practically stick a fork in Phase 1. 21. Bunch of new construction photos from today. The riverwalk itself is going to look nice next year with the porch swings and planters filled. Happy to see the sidewalk planters extended up Main Street toward front and on Second toward Mound.
