Oh, hooray... now Cincinnati can have Apodments like I lived in in Seattle. I hated loved my 27sf bathroom and 9" kitchenette sink.

Last night at the OTR Made Awards it was announced that American Soul & Jamaican food restaurant Flavors of the Isle will be moving into the Pho Lang Thang space in Findlay Market. I had some of their food last night and although I can't speak for authenticity because I've got no soul and I'm not a Jamaican food expert, it was very delicious and I think it will be successful. Boombox Buns will also be moving into the former Injoy/Picnic and Pantry space on Republic across from Salazar and Low Spark and just down the street from Ghost Baby.

Cement, a critical ingredient to concrete, is one of the largest contributors to green house gases on the planet. Cutting its use will pay dividends for the future of the planet. How does the path extension connect to the sidewalk expansion through the Kroger lot? Would it happen behind the building? Would you bike on the sidewalk from Pocahontas?

Color changing shipping container architecture is, perhaps, the post-apocalyptic aesthetic moment we are at right now. And if not, the aesthetic moment we deserve. "Refined and sophisticated" for me would require richer material. Maybe it will have a glazed tile base. Then it will be refined and sophisticated. I don't disagree that it will stand the test of time, but only as a background building. Which is totally cool. Not every building, especially domestic buildings, need to be ostentatious.

Architecturally, I find it odd to see John Senhauser go from the iconic skin of Encore to the very restrained and somewhat pedestrian surface of this building.

I think he is a solid enough arguer to stand his ground on his positions without shifting to center. He's endorsed Warren and I hope he would do like Warren and get more populist as he meets more people in the city and understands their positions on the streetcar. I think, overwhelmingly, people believe the streetcar will be a great piece of transportation once it goes to uptown and would anticipate him pushing for a study... hopefully the Main Street Tunnel to Christ Hospital option that John Schneider and Jules Rosen have been championing.

Doubtful... for one, the angle of the sun in the summer is so sharp that when the pool is open, shadows from a tall building wouldn't even reach the pool.

Gensler designed the building, but I would redirect your criticisms to the owner/developer. The designers don't get to decide how much space to build.

So where do people think the best site within the Casino's property for the Hard Rock Hotel would be? My first pass idea is on top of the garage, if that is even possible. Plenty of benefits and deficits from a lot of different options within the open space of their property.

I have this feeling like Northside south of Blue Rock is going to look a lot different in 10 years.

Do you think KAO would renovate and expand into the space left by Powell? Adding 135,000SF could simply mean renovating and expanding into the space left by Powell. Having just pedaled my first commute along Spring Grove from Northside to downtown after having moved there over the holiday, I think Spring Grove could use some streetscape love. I get it, it's industrial, but there is definitely space for a curb separated bike highway, some trees, and maybe some bump outs at the intersections.

I don't use science and math to inform my systems of morality because I just find it too hard to sub in all the variable for the equations in the report to make sure my decisions align with my outward expression of virtue. I find reading Wendell Berry, Toni Morison, Thomas Merton, and Mary Oliver to be far more insightful. Until social media flattened the hierarchy of voices and interconnected people with common experiences, there wasn't the possibility for disenfranchised groups of people to take action and make change in white supremacist society. If people enslaved at the time of these "honorific" namings had equal voice, these roads would not be named after the people who did not recognize the value of human life and respect the dignity of work. I would assume it has something to do with Ghost Baby going below. They may want to have a more fashionable bar rather than a restaurant/butcher in the space.

Interested to see how this plays out. I find the graphics (which are all too likely to change drastically between now and any execution of this plan) pretty wild. In the thumbnail, I see words like sexuality, commentary, community, systems, people, stories, culture. In the larger image, those words disappear/become hard to spot and other words emerge. Quite the tromp l'oeil.
