I have no love for parking lots, but 3CDC's removable permeable pavers and landscaping at Walnut and Central Parkway and Liberty and Pleasant should be the standard for new parking lots in the city.

Wait... did you not get the survey that came out 8 hours before it was set to close?

Yes. The other stop is the transit center. Places change. The transit center is definitely located where I think the future center of the neighborhood will be... further south and closer to the Mill Creek and much more dense than the rest of Northside.

The use of a forest or tree image as a motif in architecture is popular due to its biophilic benefits. It's common to draw associations between a new tree-inspired building and other tree-inspired buildings from the past. A lot of the resources I see the Lloyd Library sharing on their great social media channels are nature related. I could see the board wanting the new building to bring a contemporary world closer to the natural world through the design of the building. Anyway, that's what I first thought of, though I can't disagree with any of the associations others have made. I think it is a very handsome form and patterning. I wish it was mass timber.

Someone at the last Northside Community Council meeting made a good point, in my opinion, about the location of the 2nd Northside BRT stop. They suggested that what is ambiguously labeled" Northside-Pullan" to actually be built either in front of the CAIN building just south of Pullan and north of Chase or in front of the Cincinnati Bell sub station building between Westmoreland and Bruce. Both of these feel like good locations to me and I feel like between Pullan and Chase is the better option for its proximity to the library, business district, CAIN, Northside Farmer's Market, and North Church which is becoming a bit of a community hub.

https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2018/06/12/get-a-look-at-115-million-medpace-expansion.html Not totally apples to oranges, but this article claims that the existing new building is: 200,000 square feet of office space 18,000 square feet of retail space 925-space parking garage

I hope this is a sign of things to come for Rookwood. This site is just begging to densify... and hopefully get replotted to improve site access.

I know it's for fire protection issues for the existing buildings on the corner, but it is a shame there can't be windows on the north side of the building along that single loaded corridor. The view north in OTR, especially from these upper units, is one of the best views in the neighborhood.

Oh dang! I had no idea they were demolished. Would have loved to get an Os Gemeos mural on them and have them be an anchor along the millcreek trail portion of the CROWN.

Napkin math 625 beds w/ 250sqft per bed (which includes area for kitchenette, bathroom, amenity) = 156,250SF. On a 20,000 sf lot, that's at least 8 stories if you are maximizing the floor area ratio. Taller if other factors exist. Shorter if my 250sf coefficient is absurd or too large.

I don't think the hotel is actually within the area proposed for the zoning change. I'm not going to look now, but I wonder if there is anything in the building/zoning code about being adjacent to RM-0.7 that would impact the proposed hotel.

I think its been an ongoing restoration project. They spent a while tuck pointing brick. Now they are replacing the terracotta tile roof.

Something tells me that DECC and 3CDC aren't going for bigger conventions... they are going for better conventions. Making upgrades to the space instead of expanding the space will attract smaller, more exclusive conventions. This is all just my personal conjecture, but I just don't see how doubling the size of the Duke Energy Convention Center just to compete for the same conventions at Columbus would work out as a business plan.

The cover seems pretty useless if there isn't some form of conveyance, either a bridge or an escalator like at GABP or PBS.

I had a great time. I was so glad the streets were shut down and felt that the streetcar escort worked SO well. It was great to see citizens not bat an eye when they had to move out of the street for the streetcar. I cannot imagine if venues were much closer together. Did anyone try walking on Court Street Saturday night? Completely PACKED. Art wise, I would love to see projections from the past lit up as budget allows. The audio-visual files already exist, but some folks took their ball and decided to not play, so the thousands or million(s?) didn't get to witness any repeat performances (except for my absolute favorite installation, Crescendo, which was not a projection). I feel bad that people who were involved in the past walked away but I knew SO MANY PEOPLE who were directly involved, got paid, or were otherwise engaged in the making of the event this year. To me, I find it exhausting to base the measure the success of this event to the magic of Lumenocity or the first BLINK. I don't think you can recreate the delight of a never before seen, inaugural event. The second Lumenocity was ticketed and lost the casual festival atmosphere. The third was in the Taft and I was not a huge fan. If we remember the second BLINK, nearly an entire day was lost to rain, the Roebling Suspension bridge swayed dangerously with thousands walking on it, there were very few unsolicited side shows, rogue installations, or pop-ups, streets were a mess of cars and pedestrians, the streetcar was useless. This is a young festival and I hope it just keeps getting better and better.

When I was working in Seattle, the two-way cycle tracks were the majority of my route from my house to office. I loved it. Made me feel safer to be with the other cyclists. Just my opinion, I guess.

I like my protected bike lines right next to each other, but this looks great. What happens on the road where the BRT stations aren't? Left turn lanes?

Would a Federal Building in Washington DC also have these same requirements? I have to imagine DC would be a much different city if that was the case.

Seriously so tragic. 18 years old. It feels like an epidemic of pedestrian violence. I would not expect major changes to Jefferson until money from Issue 7 begins getting spent on either or both the Hamilton Avenue and Reading Road BRT corridors. I think it would be important for stakeholders to advocate for a protected bike lane along Jefferson and MLK in addition to dedicated BRT lanes. Has anyone (cough brad thomas cough) sketched what the Jefferson and MLK ROW could look like with BRT and protected bike lanes?

If SW Ohio is the location... My wife is from Indian Lake and I am from Wilmington. We had a conversation about Marysville vs Wilmington today as for a location (if it isn't any of the other well suited sites already mentioned) and the only reason I suggested Wilmington over Marysville was because of the 15,000 job sized hole DHL left in 2008. If we are looking for something more akin to Columbus : New Albany, Cincinnati/Dayton : ____________, I'd say closer to I-75 makes more sense.
