To get behind candidates and legislation that will support those ideals, regardless of party. For now, we are a grassroots movement with the goal of having a chapter in every Congressional district in American by 2024. We had a man from Pew Research come in and speak with us about his research re: partisanship, and he noted - which I was shocked by - that 46% of voting age adults are "independent", this is the most in over 40 years. The two parties and their voting bases don't really overlap anymore so independents, you would assume, would be the swing vote. However, independents have largely identified as such because they have felt disaffected by both parties, so only about 22-26% of independents vote. It is our goal to engage those people behind our ideals and get them involved with the organization. In mobilizing independent voters, we can become the "majority maker" supporting candidates and legislation that will support our basic platform ideas.

If ever there were a year, our AFC North division seems particularly weak going into this season. It could easily be one of those years where the winner of the AFC north barely eeks out a .500 record. It's funny... the Ravens could go 11-5 or 5-11 and either way I wouldn't be surprised.

Hey all, Just got back from the first annual State Leader's conference - which was terrific. Good news for some of my Center-Left friends on here. As the organization has expanded (We now have around 480,000 members nationwide and grow at an average of roughly 25,000-40,000 monthly in 2018), we have had a massive influx of participation from the Center-left. As we are not a political party, but rather a grassroots organization, Evan McMullin pointed out that even though this movement originated on the center-right, it would be foolish of us to maintain that label, instead of expanding our umbrella. The platform developed at the conference includes (BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO) the following, in no particular order: Criminal Justice reform: Fighting against policies that disproportionately affect minorities. Additionally, examining the fiscal sustainability of mass incarceration and the moral sustainability of private prisons. Support for Rule of Law: Fighting to preserve and protect American institutions and Democratic norms. Future of Work: As automation and technology replace the need for humans, how do we prepare for meaningful employment, if possible, in the future. Freedom of the Press: The belief that an active and at times adversarial press is critical as a check on government. American Exceptionalism: The idea that America, when led by a morally conscious Executive, is a beacon of hope and an example of moral objectivity abroad. We are not comparable to Autocratic regimes. I am going to be looking for a "chapter leader" in each of Ohio's Congressional districts. I would love for you guys to get involved. Happy to say that I just got back from DC, and Cleveland's homeless situations is FAR BETTER than in DC. I was shocked.

There aren't reliable population counts at the tract level, so I would take that all with a big grain of salt. Also, Cincinnati and Columbus both have neighborhoods that organically mesh and seemingly transform into their downtown in OTR and Short North. The geography of Cleveland, by way of the river to the South and West, and crime to the east, restricts (for the moment at least) that sort of organic blending of a neighborhood into Downtown

Loving it. I think 48th through 58th North of Bridge are really going to see an uptick in development.

DII schools give athletic scholarships. DIII schools are not allowed to give athletic scholarships, and are not allowed to give "academic" scholarships that the players would not have otherwise qualified for if they were not playing a sport. Baldwin Wallace got busted for breaking this rule a couple years ago, and got hit with a postseason bans and had to forfeit championships they inappropriately won. DIII athletes love to tell you how their coach "got them some extra money" because the coach wanted them so bad, but more often than not this is not the case. This belongs on a separate thread, but as someone who played in D3 up as recently as 2013... BW weren't the only ones.

Wholly disagree. My HS football team finished #2 in the country in 2008, and aside from the 5-6 kids that went to OSU, ND, and Pittsburgh - some of the better players were faced with a choice... Play D2 or D3 and start right away, or walk on at a MAC school, since the only FCS (1-AA) option in the state is YSU (Dayton plays in a non-scholarship conference). So, a few of my friends chose to just go to a school for academics and no longer play. Those friends could've found a home at a CSU that is FCS. A stadium with a 10,000-15,000 capacity could serve the school and city fantastically. Not to mention, the kids from St. Ignatius, Solon, St. Eds, Mentor, Glenville, etc. that aren't good enough to get an FBS scholarship could stay at home and play in one of the most talent-rich areas for football in the country. If CSU would've pursued that option, we wouldn't even need this stadium conversation right now.

No worries man, at the end of the day... an outlet mall is an outlet mall. Not going to make any of us rich or cost any of us our livelihoods.

Additionally, by the very nature of the world we live in, its typically not a good look for adults to go roaming around high schools anyways. I understand and appreciate investing in education, but I think if they would've sold that land for development - about which they were approached directly - they would have had even more money to spend on a school in a more appropriate location Where would you propose it have gone? What would have went in its place? Tax abated luxury townhomes (that are actually taking money from CMSD). A luxury mixed use development?
