Hey all.... See below for this INCREDIBLE book I found at an antique store on Lorain Ave. It has transcriptions of Moses Cleaveland's journal as his party headed West from Conneaut to lay their claim to the "Mighty Cuyahoga"
  3. They do a terrific job with the floral arrangements in the summer too
  4. Hey guys, a neighbor of mine was approached about participating in a sit-in on the site of Church and State before the groundbreaking. Please, tell me this is a NIMBY joke
  5. University Circle is so damn impressive. For any city.
  6. ... though I do love the "NCAA Final Four" banner on the renderings... as if the Q will be adding the necessary 30,000 additional seats.
  7. Lumen is going to frame the Eastern Edge of our skyline nicely.
  8. Cleveland Scene said investments wouldn't pay off though...
  9. ^I've long said that Medina, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and the other fringe counties should ban Wal-Marts. Travel through Vermont, and you will find small shop after small shop, all thriving.
  10. Had a meeting in Painesville this morning, that city has some great bones. Have there been any attempts at revitalization efforts similar to a Medina or Hudson? eastvillagedon[/member]
  11. Was I dreaming this morning or wasn't there a rendering of BKL as Central Park in this thread?
  12. There will be no Climax until NuCLEus breaks ground
  13. I was jumped in the parking lot in HS
  14. Doesn't that usually only work for large airports, though. Like Boston's Logan?
  15. True, good point. Though I'd argue this project is significantly more consequential to the area and Cleveland as a whole.
  16. ^I'm not certain the Metroparks would be willing to undertake such an effort. In all seriousness, the best move might be to wait for an administration change and approach the Dept of Agriculture of Dept of the Interior
  17. I can’t believe we still don’t have a name for the tower. Almost makes me think the name is up for bid, no?
  18. Cleveland Scene - once again, takes a position of which I agree and presents it in such a whiney, hipster, stick-it-to-da-man fashion that I feel like a tool for agreeing with them
  19. ^One endorsement matters more than the others for our next mayor
  20. ^Are you a hoarder, @straphanger? https://www.google.com/maps/@41.5182831,-81.6154879,3a,31.3y,314.67h,89.51t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sypuG9SJIv5PIoRK3F64P3g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  21. 22. Got some bad news. My cousin's company (they design and make prosthetic organs) will likely be leaving their location Midtown for Solon by year's end. They need more space, will be hiring another 10-15 engineers, and have been unable to find suitable space in Midtown.
  23. I've always said that Cleveland is to WNY what Chicago is to Cleveland, just on a smaller scale. Cleveland looks at Chicago and notes the population difference, whereas WNY looks at Cleveland and sees a metro area only slightly larger than theirs.
  24. Yeah there were quite a few people who were clearly from out of town, just thought I'd share
  25. For KJP[/member] ... At Jack flaps downtown and they have a sign in list with everyone’s phone number. Area codes represented on the sheet: 213 626 313 614 512 972 708 606 281 513
