  1. I'm very excited to see how the bookstore/brewery works out on the first floor. If you can drink and read in the same spot... ill be there.
  2. ^Not pleased, but I think optimistic. Hough was once a notorious food desert with terrible crime. It has, in part, benefited from the Renaissance taking place in Cleveland's Uptown and University Circle.
  3. ^As an aside, I love the way dress clothes dominated life, even for the lower class back then
  4. "Cut rate drugs"
  5. The impact I always note is merely in volume more so than vertical presence. PHS Tower will do both.
  6. ^Hard to imagine why those people would feel the need to riot...
  7. If it weren't for NIMBYs, the Hingetown area would be getting closer, though on a much smaller scale.
  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I've never really understood the love for this place. Don't get me wrong, I like their Polish Boy, but the ribs and chicken are just ok. It seems to almost be regarded as a Cleveland culinary "must try" for out of towners. I wouldn't agree. Is there a mechanism by which I can appeal the UO moderators to lodge sanctions against a user???

Okay, I'm open to pushing it into May so everyone has time to read as well
  10. I mean the area around Shaker Square still is not unlike some parts of Queens, Wrigleyville, etc. Can't imagine what it was like in its hayday

Okay, might try to set the first meeting for the week of April 29th, pending some more responses

Hello all, I am trying to get together a group, similar to a book club, for monthly philosophy reading and discussions. I have a bar in Ohio City that would be willing to host us, provided we eat and imbibe while gathered. If i can get more than 10-12 committed, I will let the bar know and we can go from there. Shoot me a private message or post on here if interested. Thanks guys
  14. ^Could you imagine if we could repurpose those routes...
  15. ^CityMark has grown in a way that I'm not sure even they expected. As such, I'm kind of surprised that they haven't jumped at an ultra ambitious project like this. Nonetheless, if there is someone that knows a good investment, it's Dan Walsh.
  16. FerrariEnzo[/member] 's canal idea is actually pretty cool, and wouldn't be all that expensive to cut across the river as it otherwise would be, given the short distance. I'm just unsure that canals would succeed as a "destination" in our climate. But I love the thinking.
  17. Apologize for my ignorance, but aren't there penalties for jumping fro 401k to Roth?
  18. I'll have discretion on what is invested and will ultimately have decision power. But I won't be autonomous.
  19. The range is bonds, equities, currencies, futures, options, mutual funds, and partnerships I am opinionated on the subject (though my opinion is by no means obscure) so I'll give you my opinion and you can seek out other opinions, but my opinion is that the only thing we should be investing in at our age is stock market index funds. I appreciate the simplicity of it and the low fees and I feel that financial managers over-complicate things, increasing their earnings but not earning the investor much more than average market returns. So if I were you I would opt to manage it myself if your 401(k) gives you the choice, and just put everything into an S&P index fund or total stock market index fund. If you want to read a little bit, this finance blogger's "stock series" is one of the best things I've read on the subject for lay investors. It's maybe a couple hours of reading. http://jlcollinsnh.com/stock-series/ Also a little Warren Buffett advice: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/03/why-warren-buffett-says-index-funds-are-the-best-investment.html Thanks! We do not have the option to manage it on our own. As such, I think I will go with moderate and maintain my Scottrade account on my own.

  22. All, I'm 27 and beginning my retirement savings with a 401(k) with a 2% employer match. I'm pretty risk averse; as such, how much risk would I be taking on by checking "moderate" for my risk tolerance box instead of conservative? Thanks guys
