I, for one am the opposite of "meh" about this location. We seem to be gung-ho on health and well-being for inner-city residents, pushing sustainable food sources, attempting to end food deserts, and pushing for trails and bike lanes. Nonetheless, the moment a gym franchise that will cost a local resident $10/month it becomes somehow a negative. I'd posit that its merely the fact that its a national chain that's turning so many people off. A major part of holistic health is fitness - I cannot see how providing an affordable gym option to local residents is a bad thing.

US Economy: News & Discussion
It's how most other countries in the world do it. They don't have our military industrial complex calling the shots though... Two takes on this: 1. You're right. 2. However, we are ill equipped at the moment for modern frontiers. For example, we have less "ice breaking" ships than China, Norway, Russia, Finland, Germany, Canada, and Denmark. As the earth continues to be warm, territory in the Arctic is going to be contentious, and we need to be ready. I think we could take care of both, cut reckless spending for ammunition that we already have stockpiled, for instance, and focus the spending on salaries and modernity.

Masonic Temple? It's looking for a new purpose. Not nearly large enough to shoot movies in. It's an old vaudeville style theater, approximately the same size as the Agora. The unused portions of the Ford Plant in Brook Park / Parma would be perfect

I am mutual friends of the people that own Leinkuehler near 45th and Detroit, and it's my understanding that they have not been approached about any buyouts. Though, this parcel is a little far down from the "ripe" area

Had a resident in his early 20s tell me that the lot for Church and State being left empty would be better for the neighborhood than it being developed. Mind you, this young man works at a retail boutique shop that opened BECAUSE of Hingetown's gentrification.

Never understood why so many NIMBYs in my neighborhood hate Kertesz.

If the former Max Hayes site can be used for a high density project, this area is going to be special.

Also, I'm assuming no naming rights have been attributed yet? I can't see it breaking ground as "Playhouse Square Tower"

^Same. I've heard this thing has had its financing in order since the announcement

This tower and the Beacon will significantly change the volume of our skyline.
