Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
The remarkable thing is it was probably only 20 years ago when NYC was at a similar rate. They used data and planning to address their crime. Wonder if our leadership is that smart Well losing the perennial projection machine Steve Loomis will be a good start.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Hue won't necessarily be bad if we can get a play-caller in. I don't think its feasible to ask a junior head coach to call a game and manage a team. That takes years of operational experience, which Hue doesn't have.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
John Dorsey's talent procurement record in KC and GB is commendable. But I have to wonder about someone who takes a job where not only does the head coach not answer to him, can't bring in his own guy, and he had to accept the 1-31 coach already in place. Haslem isn't going to get the message until he tries to hire a GM (next opportunity should come in about 1-3 years) and can't because all of the candidates demand to have a new organizational structure in which the GM runs the team, including hiring and firing the head coach. Problem is the Browns are still an NFL team and are at least a stepping stone for the career of some ambitious young executive, and... the Haslems are running the Browns like their own little family business when they need to leave it to the experts to run it. The Browns will never improve until the Haslems relinquish control over the day-to-day operations. Personally, I'd prefer they just sell the damn team. My college roommate is a scout for an NFC North team. He told me that Dorsey actually INSISTED that they keep Hue.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Perhaps as a former college athlete I just think this will A) be a bigger shot at the players than it will ownership - and our team played hard this year. Undisciplined, but hard; and B) will be like shooting a beebee gun at a Panzer Tank in terms of affecting ownership decisions. I played on an 0-10 team one year in college, and when alumni came around, it was us, not the school that were humiliated. Literally the only reason we turned it around were because of the people in the locker room, NOT because some wealthy alumni snubbed me at a function and that motivated me. Most of these players do not deserve this ridicule, and the owners won't care until it hits them in the pocket book. In all seriousness, if we want change, we'd be better served pressuring First Energy, Elk and Elk, KPMG, et al to cease contributing to the ad space around the stadium.

The get off my lawn crowd... Or the crowd that doesn't glorify losing... There's nothing funny about 0-16, and now that the parade is being critiqued everyone is trying to play it up like this marathon of rejects is somehow a high brow satire of the Browns season... You keep calling the parade participant names yet don't say much about the Browns themselves. I guess the "high road" is to accept 1-31 as normal. No, it's to not renew tickets. Same as I did this year. If you think a billionaire is going to be "humiliated" by a crowd of cargo shorts, tribal tats, RVs, and a grown man with a pumpkin on his head... I think you're mistaken. These guys are too egotistical for that... What will matter is when he becomes the first NFL franchise in the last 16 years to DEPRECIATE in value due to lack of ticket sales, merchandise sales, and sponsorship revenue.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I prefer the Cleveland.com spelling "looser," but anything that further shames HAslem and company is fine by me. Marching around the stadium in below-freezing temperatures with RV's, accompanied by the likes of Mike Polk. All the while Jimmy Haslam hears about the parade from his multi-million dollar home in Bratenahl and goes "wow, I wish they weren't parading, this stinks." Who is the shamed party in all of this again?

If you go to the parade you're a loser. Period. EOD.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
So you would urge a complete change in its proposed tenant composition? I think it has to be done if the project ever wants to get under way. They landed Benesch, a Live! entertainment group tenant, a brewery, and likely a hotel, none of these have cut it. You need a tenant that guarantees 8+ floors are locked in long term. There are plenty of companies with 500+ employees in Cleveland who are unsure of their future re: their current locations...

Needs a large HQ as a tenant.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
No, I don't think anyone says "It would be better if I committed this violent act whilst in the heart of Public Square." What I am saying is that the bus stop on Ontario just South of the Square near Jack has a checkered history as does the one on Superior nearest W. 3rd. If these were the primary drop-offs, unassuming people and families on Public Square would be less likely to be targets.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Tell us how this argument makes sense? The "perps" would still get dropped off there, just on the corner of the square rather than in the center. #FACEPALM I'm aware, bruv. But two stops, one on Superior near the 200 building, and one near W.3rd and Superior, would disperse crowds slightly better. These stops still exist and make the central stop quasi-unnecessary.

Isn't "Class A" relative, though?

Cleveland: Population Trends
Lol! This is perhaps the least sound argument you've presented on here. Charlotte is a straight shot South. Richmond and Pittsburgh are to the East, Columbus to the West. All of these cities - for the moment - have more employment opportunities. Immigration to Cleveland happened because labor was in demand. Not because people were laid off elsewhere and decided to rush here en masse. And to KJP[/member]'s point... the absolute worst case scenario would only implicate 6-8,000 coal miners. Coal has been dead since before the VCR, but only one industry drags and stomps their feet.

Milwaukee proper has over 700,000

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^I just imagine how much more viable to rapid system would be as a whole if there were a stop at say E 9th and Superior
-
Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^So much of this would be solved if we extended the rapid to an additional 1-2 stops downtown. Sigh

By the way, there are 80-100 million Christians in China / 15 million in South Korea / 2 million in Japan. That's still fairly significant.

That's my building. I feel terrible considering Anna in the Raw had been attempting to expand there for years.

Cleveland: One University Circle
Agreed, walked from 29th and Franklin to Crop last night and it wasn't bad. I must admit though, I was more motivated to walk by my unwillingness to lose my parking spot more than anything lol.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
If we're talking about the same one... That's been there since 2015.
-
Cleveland: One University Circle
I think that's why people are confused. Are you saying they are attracting the people that work around it? There isn't really anything walk able around it. There may be, soon thereafter. If development takes off, which it appears to be doing, in Uptown and Midtown, walkable development will be pop up around it

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
It was a dead issue and then someone died... I take the health line through to Public Square 2-3x a week, the lap around adds a little over a minute to the commute... leave earlier if it's an issue. We don't need buses running through our FINALLY thriving urban green space. Additionally, crime was an issue on Public Square this October. I know diverting buses around won't necessarily stop this, but a bulk of the violence is perpetrated by people who get dropped off by the bus there.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^ I can only hope. And hopefully this time Cleveland Scene's "HOW DARE THEY ADD 90 SECONDS TO OUR COMMUTE?!?!" campaign doesn't succeed.
