I guess I'm in the minority - but I don't hate it? I think it kind of blends with the tent at Nautica behind it too

This is so frustrating. Personally, I prefer walking my dog along gravel, chain link fence, and broken glass.

Yes, Cleveland City Council has passed a resolution to consider a debate on a vote by Q1 2047.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Every team has to overpay now. The fact of the matter is, with the exception of Green Bay, every team is in a major city with any needed/wanted amenity. The best players try to curate a balance between who can pay them the most with what gives them the best chance of winning. The "Browns are the Browns" mantra really isn't valid anymore. They're 37-30 since 2020, there's 15 teams with worse records than us in that span.

To play devil's advocate... our GOP wing of the state legislature hasn't much cared or abided by what any court has to say about its work product

Never underestimate Bobby George's ability to play a victim and stomp his feet until the city gives in. Having said that, I don't mind the restaurant abutting the river - I'd just love to see some sort of public thruway that's not the sidewalk

Country - NCAA doesn't track polls as well at D2 and D3 levels to be considered an authority - weirdly enough. https://www.d3hoops.com/top25/men/2023-24/week6

Don't look now, but CWRU and JCU are ranked 2 and 3 in the country, respectively in MBB. However, they don't play each other.

It's the same reason you're seeing more school districts in Texas build two-tiered stadiums - the potential for extra revenue.

Overall I don't disagree with the sentiment, but those chains are definitely needed to lure more retail. I think Shady Side in Pittsburgh is my gold standard for rust belt neighborhoods. You'll find local boutiques, butcher shops, coffee shops, and restaurants mixed with Chipotle, Apple, and Williams & Sonoma. Unfortunately for those of us in the neighborhood, Lululemon isn't coming back (and this may warrant a different thread, but I know someone with direct knowledge who said the satellite shop in Hingetown did too well and it detracted from the Crocker location, which LULU corporate is invested in making work). I suspect some retailers who already have a presence in the Western suburbs may have similar fears - but the success of a few, strategic chains can help sell the idea to larger retailers as well.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
It's wild how quickly some of y'all turn on a dime. The Browns took a badly injured team who faced some wildly tough circumstances to 11-6. The managerial skill and tact it took to accomplish that feat is nothing short of miraculous. The fact of the matter is, QBs today are going to get paid. I'm not quite sure how we can say anyone is ruining a franchise with a highly-sought-after young GM and a COTY candidate... not to mention the success his other franchises have seen. And if this is still about the moral grievances with Deshaun that you have, it's convenient to ignore the (based on my informal quick count) 13 members of still-alive playoff teams who've faced allegations (and some times arrests) for domestic and/or sexual abuse and somehow chalk this up to the Browns being "cursed".

Like I mentioned above, I personally know a few contractors who won't bid projects in the city

Lakewood: Development and News
I personally know two contractors who won't work in the city. I worked concrete in high school, and they almost arrested us for pouring 5 sidewalk blocks without having the permit on us (though it'd been pulled). Cops showed up, we let the concrete dry, then had to rip it up because they wouldn't let us finish it.

I went to Hiram - and fortunately the school is in pretty good condition financially, but you're absolutely right. If Hiram were to go under, Hiram Township, Garretsville, and Mantua would all lose a the area's biggest direct and indirect employer.

I work in Key Tower and my office overlooks the project, and let me emphasize that overall I reallllllly like the project. I think the tower design is awesome and I'm thrilled that we'll have such a mass of people on the Square. However, I bike in most days, and the only piece I lament is the project's interaction with the Square at street level due to the setback.

It was started on an impulse, and changed "themes" twice during construction. Not exactly the best laid plan. Still a phenomenal opportunity though.

I guess my counter to this would be that abortion is often more biologically "urgent" (for lack of a better term), than a transition. Whereas spending 5 visits to a doctor may render the point moot for a woman seeking an abortion, the same is not true here. I don't have an issue with individuals transitioning if that's what they prefer. But I think sometimes we look at the extreme depression and self-harm levels in the trans community and - out of empathy - want to fast track these decisions. However, I think a holistic approach to this issue is the best approach - meaning psychological as well as physical evaluations. Not that it's anyone's business, but I just got a text clearing me to share this story... My cousin - and one of my best friends growing up - wanted to transition and considered it from 2019 - 2021, going so far as actually scheduling a procedure. However, he backed out of the surgery and now claims it was the best decision of his life. Over some drinks at Thanksgiving, he told me he thinks he probably identifies as a male, but still participates in drag shows and says he feels just as comfortable there as he does in sweatpants on his couch. It turns out, it was working with a psychiatrist that made him a) love himself as he is, and b) recognize that gender dysphoria doesn't always need a physical affirmation. He had suicidal ideations when he was considering his transition, but has not had any dark thoughts in well over a year. I know this isn't a one-sized fits all solution, but I think deliberation has more value than we often think. That starts within support systems, though, allowing people to feel comfortable enough with us that these kind of things can be talked through.

No - and they're not to be consulted under this order. I'm not disagreeing with you that this is in direct conflict with their stance on education, though, I'm only commenting on this bill.

I don't mean to be off-base here, but how is this going after adults? I think to most Americans, this sounds like a caring and reasonable approach. DeWine also announced Friday that his administration proposed rules to collect data on treatment for transgender adults and children and prevent "fly-by-night" clinics that don't provide adequate mental health counseling. To achieve that, the rule would require a comprehensive care plan for transgender adults and children that ensures they see an endocrinologist, psychiatrist and bioethicist.
