Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
If you honestly believe NuCLEus has nothing to do with the Q, then we're not even in the same stratosphere of logic MissinOhio[/member] . Live Entertainment, who runs Louisville Live probably committed as a tenant because NuCLEus was in the suburbs... The hotel is being pitched aggressively because it is miles from the arena... got it.

If I could like this x100000, I would. The fact remains that almost all of the people opposing this background have little to no experience in finance and economics. They're just going by the eye test and common sense. Common sense is great in many situations, but not in more nuanced matters. Common sense would tell us the earth is flat... Neighborhood development will never happen in any sustainable way without employment growth in the area. Employment growth won't be incentivized without some private-sector involvement. I'm honestly so happy for Warrensville, Shaker, Maple, parts of Cleveland etc who will benefit from the Amazon distribution center. Their neighborhoods will benefit from more people going to work and seeing a steady income.

If you honestly believe that public, capital investment in the home of an NBA franchise is a bad investment idea then you can't see the forest through the trees. Please, cite one city that has suffered economically as a result of capital improvements to an NBA arena. This ISN'T MedicalMart. Equating all public financing is not an accurate reflection of this. Allowing the emotions of "but this is public money" to cloud what this will do to the local economy isn't an astute decision. Ask yourself, are these things now MORE likely to happen: - NBA All-star game - NuCLEus - Major concert commitments - NCAA Tournament bids - MAC Tournament contract extension - Conventions with required arena access But hey, public dollars have been improperly spent in the past, so to hell with it.

Don't count on it. The Cavs are rightfully p*ssed off about this. Do not expect any concessions, expect hardening in their position.

Hahaha EXACTLY. To be honest... this is a MAJOR downside of democracy.. It's like Socrates said in the Republic... If you were making a journey across the sea on a 20 foot boat, and a group of people had to choose your captain, would you want the populace at large making the choice, or a more select group qualified on nautical navigation making the vote? This had no business going to a referendum and Cleveland Scene's anti-Gilbert-butthurtedness shined through big time, compounded by populist politicians who do not understand economics.

Significantly more than this renovation. The renovation would've gotten us through 2030, at least. In order to be competitive, you need new facilities. Ask Cincinnati.

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
This shouldn't be understated. Teams LEAVE cities because of things like this. This was NOTHING but a vote grab and click bait by some politicians and a newspaper who do not understand economics or large-scale financing. This would have brought in tens of millions to local vendors and owners. Not to mention, we now lose the all-star game. If Dan Gilbert wasn't a billionaire, this would not have been an issue. But, it got politicized as an anti 1% movement and now we've lost a massive renovation, an all-star game, taxable revenue to local business, and potentially a team.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Agreed. "We just need financing to close, then construction will begin immediately." All financing issues now closed three weeks ago...

Another month goes by with no construction. I'm not crying, you're crying

^ Are you certain KJP[/member]? That looks a little like Euclid, particular where Geigers currently is next to Heinen's a little off and to the left. I trust you more than me re: this picture, just an observation.

^It's our state's only national park and one of the most visited in the country! It deserves its own thread! Hope you'll participate!

Cuyahoga Valley National Park: Hiking and Recreation
I have! I almost crapped myself when I did. Additionally, I saw them in an unusual place... As you referenced, they are in the beaver marsh. However, I saw them on in an area of stagnant water in the creek that runs just off of the Ledges Trail. From everything I have heard, this is HIGHLY unusual. But, I can confirm that they do in fact exist in the park. There is also a flourishing wild turkey population - the animal not the liquor. I have also heard that there have been nearly a dozen confirmed bear sightings in the park this year. This is staggering considering there were none from 2006-2011.

Well... the site doesn't seem to be allowing me to post the pictures, I will continue to try in the meantime.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park: Hiking and Recreation
Hey Guys, Just wanted to start this thread as I look to complete a 75% completion rate of every sanctioned and unsanctioned trail in the park. I have found some real gems that I would like to share with everyone, including some of the lesser-known or completely unknown waterfalls, which have proven to be breathtaking but difficult to get to. I will be updating this with pictures and comments re: my hikes and would love input from everyone else. This park is so awesome and, as far as I could see, did not have a thread devoted to it. Yesterday I took a hike to "Contour Falls." There is no trail for almost 2/5 of this hike and you will have to hike in the creek bed - be prepared to get wet up to your knees. You can park at the Station Road trail head just off of Route 82 in Brecksville. Upon leaving the parking lot, use the small iron bridge to cross the river, and take a left. Make sure that as you walk, the canal stays on your right-hand side while you're on the towpath. Every so often, you will notice a debris build-up in the canal, this is an indicator that there is a tributary, which should be visible if you look across the canal. You should pass two tributaries (the first of which will take you to Twin Sister Falls). On the third tributary, take a right and cross the canal. *Do not freak out, much of the stone and sediment provides a fairly easy crossing*. Once there, follow the creek for about 1 mile - when you see the fork in the creek, stay right and know that you are halfway there. You will have to cross some fallen trees as well as knee-high deep water, but the trek is worth it. I will post a couple pictures in the post below (if the site lets me). Please, feel free to let me know if you've been to Contour Falls as well! I will reach all 7 of CVNP's waterfalls by October and will share a post and pictures with you each time.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I actually disagree, E Rocc. Williams has played schemes to compensate for personnel in the past. But, perhaps you're right. Time will tell, as we have only seen vanilla looks from us to this point.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I cautiously agree with you KJP[/member] ... However, Gregg Williams loves to send those zone-boundary blitzes and with Antonio Brown on that side of the field, it could spell trouble in isolation for Joe Haden. No one is better at picking out 1 v 1 match-ups than Big Ben.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Has anyone here heard of Blue Star Airlines? It's a comer, 80 medium body jets 300 pilots, flies to Florida, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Northeast, great slots in major cities... I heard they just got a favorable ruling in an FAA suit and are looking to use the extra capital to expand.

Strongly disagree. He's GOING to make mistakes, but getting him those bruises early is not one of them. He isnt colt mccoy.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
It was more of a rhetorical comment; you hit the nail on the head, nonetheless. Moreover, the fact that HE is the face of our city and not someone who's been here for a while is egregious.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Idk why he has a platform to talk sports... I don't have a radio show to talk about thermodynamics because I've never been involved in it. He should get a platform once every 4 years for the winter olympics.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Myself being someone that played four years of college football on the offensive side of the ball, I really would like to stick my neck on the line for this kid. Everything that is great about him, you CANNOT teach: Height, weight, arm strength, leadership. He needs to continue to improve on his blitz recognition to the field side, improve pocket presence/awareness --> which thereby will help him get rid of the ball earlier, and notice man coverage disguises. A couple times against the Giants the defense merely rolled their safeties (showing zone Cover 2 and switching to Cover 1 man under) and Deshone didn't recognize it. All in all, those are problems rookies are EXPECTED to have. I'm very excited about him and I haven't been excited about a Browns QB since they've come back. I honestly believe he will be all pro within 5 years. I hope I don't regret putting this in writing.
