I think Delpit is our only real hope
  4. I'm 33 - and my Grandma grew up in Tremont and met my Grandpa when they went to high school together at St. John Cantius. I grew up going to Tremont regularly - Church 7-8x a year at St John Cantius and our family friends owned some bars/restaurants/shops there. So while I'm not old enough to remember Tremont "as it was", I do remember it well before its transition. For the sake of nostalgia - I'll share some interesting memories from myself and grandparents: 1. My grandma's house was demolished to make the little convenient store across the street from Grumpy's. From there, her and her family moved to a house that's still standing near Scranton and Starkweather. 2. My great uncle was married at Cantius in 1975 and had the reception at Lemko Hall. His best friend (following their service together in Vietnam) was a black man named Teddy - he was a groomsmen in the wedding. My mom (born in '62) has memories of being told to leave the reception out the back door because a crowd of about 15-20 men (a self-proclaimed local gang) had gathered outside (mainly Polish and Slovak) when they heard a black man was in Lemko Hall. My uncle's reception was cut short when the groomsmen and family friends literally had a West Side Story style brawl in the middle of the street at 11th and Literary. I've since had several people who were in attendance tell me the story (unsolicited) of my grandpa knocking a man unconscious during the fight, pulling off his leather jacket, and throwing it in a tree in Lincoln Park. Sadly, one of my grandpa's cousins was pushed down the stairs of Lemko in his wheelchair by a gang member, and was hospitalized for over 2 months. 3. Up until the donations made by the Catanzarite family (of Pat Catan's), St. John Cantius was near disrepair. We would go to Christmas Eve mass there, and I remember needing to wear my coat in church and - because we can't wear hats in church - my mom would always bring the side-fitting ear muffs for me. There was always at least one Polish song in those masses. 4. I've always been close with my uncle, but he was actively an alcoholic until I was about 13... He watched me one day and took me to the Treehouse, Hotz's, and Carney's (flats) in that order... I still remember the bartender at Hotz's offering individually-sold cigarettes at the bar, and, though I didn't understand what was going on at the time, I was in Carney's when a stolen truck was literally unloaded at the front door (my uncle had to explain to me what happened about 10 years post-facto). 5. My great Aunt Mary belonged to a "Polish moms club" and I remember my grandma and I picked her up from there one time, at a house on Professor... and it was like entering a time machine from 1955. All of the women were smoking, all had babushka's on, and the carpet was bright red, as if a tribute to the Motherland.

Here's the things... the Browns (with a healthy Grant Delpit) are Super Bowl contenders. The defense is historically good and Stefanski x Flacco is a combo that will get you at least 17 points a game - that's a dangerous recipe going into the playoffs. But ya know what Super Bowl caliber teams don't give a flying **** about? What seed they get. You have to play tough games in the playoffs regardless. And quite frankly, if we do get a first round game in Jacksonville, I'm willing to be 30,000+ people in that stadium will be Browns fans.

If Browns win against the Texans, they may be playing for the Division week 18. Ravens look very good right now, but have the 49ers and Dolphins coming up - those are 2 teams that could very well beat the Birds. Browns own the tiebreaker. That's what the Browns have to be focused on until it's no longer mathematically possible.

I've been to 5 home games, and the last 2 were the worst attendance of the season (in terms of seats occupied). I know colder weather can do that... but that's usually not the case with Browns games.... and the tickets are being sold... it's just a matter of fans coming.

I gotta vent, folks... and my ire is targeted at Browns fans again... It's really frustrating that we sat here since 1999 and all we wanted was a competent team that could win close games - we swore that was all we wanted to two decades... And now we have it and Browns fans are clearly not as excited about it as I thought we would be. I think Emmet Golden said it best this week, and I'll summarize.... "About 40% of Browns fans were calling for Stefanski's head... now he's doing arguably the best coaching job in the NFL against very tough odds, and those Browns fans are more angry that they were wrong than they are excited that the Browns are winning games." I have a busy day at work - but I'll go all in on a review this week either later today or tomorrow. Just had to get that off my chest.
  9. I'm sick
  10. Nassau is TECHNICALLY on the Atlantic, not the Caribbean. Sorry. Thanks for playing Jeopardy.
  11. To this point... I will not attend concerts at Blossom anymore - doesn't matter who's playing.
  12. I can say confidently that Ball Park Village is not looked at league-wide as something to aspire to. I had to stay there overnight in the last 6 months and locals even joked about how they're lucky the Braves have been excellent, or they'd have "50 acres of scar tissue" on their hands.
  13. The crosswalks around 48th-50th and Franklin have been torn out and re-poured now SIX times since 2021 because none of the departments (both city, county, and utility tbf) communicated with each other about work flows.
  14. Did a quick count on my ride home yesterday and the first 18 "barriers" to the bike lane westbound on Detroit have either been completely removed or destroyed
  15. Another place that doesn't treat their employees well but that' neither here nor there
  16. In all seriousness.... does anyone know if there are plans to reclaim Terminal D?
  17. Yeah - but the anarchy of choosing your own seat and he adrenaline rush that follows is worth it
  18. It pained me to hear this... but the DUB-CLE route is also huge for Irish passengers, though only a fraction of them stay in Ohio. My cousin works for a large pharma company and lives on Ireland's west coast. He flies to Cleveland and buys a Southwest or Delta ticket to Atlanta at the airport. He's only had to wait overnight once since doing it, and has made the trip 5x since May.
  19. It would be nice if we ever got to use that Terminal again and United stopped holding CLE hostage
  20. Fortunately, no one was there this year! You’ve made it clear NO ONE comes to or lives in cities anymore. it was 25 kids and a couple squirrels
  21. Was speaking with someone I trust on the topic... and SW is looking to reduce and thereafter eliminate its Minneapolis employment footprint by 2035, with those empty jobs being either absorbed or moved to positions in Cleveland.

FWIW - less talented teams than the Browns have one Super Bowls... But unless DTR balls tf out it's toughhhhh sledding. DTR has a higher ceiling, but much lower floor than PJ.
