Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Yeah, in some situations you're right. But capital investment in the city's businesses is typically a good thing.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
I'm all in favor of NuCLEus getting the money... Provided they make over 50% of the units condominiums and not apartments. I think it's fundamentally unfair to ask for that amount of money - from the school district at that - if there is not a more stable investment being made. Putting equity downtown will hedge some issues if there is an apartment bubble, which there inevitably will be at some point.

Just look on Jeff Johnson's website and see what day he is planning a "Jeff Johnson fights injustice in front of the cameras" rally.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
^To the article's point though, I'm not sure if there will be a need to find additional financing, as that could change the game.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
From what I've heard from a PHS employee (though not directly working on this project) is that they wanted to have everything ready before they even announced the project. The financing is all set and ready to go and, from what I have heard, they have the GC/PM ready to go. I am not certain if that has led to all of the subs being in place, etc. I can try to find out, I'll be having dinner with them next week.

Cleveland: Which Project Will Be Next and Why
My gut says no, esp given all the teeth gnashing and back-n-forth with the Landmarks Commission over Beacon's design. But if another month goes by with no 515 groundbreaking, I'll begin to lose faith in the project. down4cle[/member] says Beacon will be up and running very shortly. I have faith in his reporting. The only edge that the Playhouse Square tower has is that they had all financing in line BEFORE they announced the project. Therefore, it's like PHST is at the bottom of an escalator but Beacon is 3/4 of the way up the adjacent staircase. I still think Beacon gets there first.

mack34[/member] personally, I agree. The original design was better. But, there were a significant number of people complaining.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
I'll be blunt. The rendering is atrocious. But beggars can't be choosers at this point lol. I'm usually in the camp of preserving historical buildings... but I wouldn't hate a complete tear-down.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Nothing concrete. But from my brief experience with the legal side of property, when someone wants a building condemned, they start leaving a paper trail. Riverview has had countless complaints re: elevator functionality as well as fixtures within the building within the last two years. And as awful as this may be in practice, it is difficult to ignore the fact that Riverview sits on arguably the most sought after piece of property in Northeast Ohio. So, the paper trail as well as the value of the property lead me to believe that the building will not last much longer. The money CMHA could get for the property would likely be able to pay for relocation on its own. Gentrification can be awesome, but it brings along with it some cruel realities. Just my prediction.

I'm still not convinced Riverview Towers will be open by the end of next year

Cleveland: Edgewater Park
^ I immediately noticed people improvising ways to get to Edgewater. The parking along Herman Ave. was always crowded on Thursday nights. Giving them about a mile walk to the park. Additionally, I noticed a lot of people getting dropped off by the Capitol theater and just walking.

It was never my impression that building was coming down, though I wish it would. I know the county still owns the building immediately adjacent to that parcel as well.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
A few weeks ago I had heard that the Valspar acquisition will add 150-250 new jobs to Cleveland and reduce MN operations by 30-40% when all is said and done.

Cleveland: Worthington Yards (Warehouse District)
Got to look around last week with my uncle. Looks great! My only reservation is the stigma of the post-grad crowd in Warehouse District. Otherwise, everything is first class.

I do too, and he is PISSED. He takes the Blue line in, and the free parking doesn't do jack for him, since now he will be driving 40 minutes each way when he was driving 5 minutes to the rapid station. Their release to the employees even mention very explicitly "There is no public transportation available to this location." About 225 employees are being moved, and though they are trying to tout the benefits, most people don't like it, at least in my friend's group. Yeah, my friend is a little confused why a finance employee is going to Hinckley Pkwy
