  1. Louisville Live has catapulted the city (along with the Bourbon Trail) into a MAJOR destination for bachelor parties from the South and Midwest. Although we all may not think becoming that sort of destination is desirable, ask Nashville, KC, and Louisville how it has benefited their cities.
  2. "This ambitious project is still years away, if all goes as planned." >>> Cleveland Scene Benesch might actually still be in play. From the sounds of it, they could sign another five-year lease with 200 Public Square before they can even move. Do appreciate the optimism offered in the Cleveland.com piece, though.
  3. I will also be taking a tour of the Edison on Friday, of the 2BR unit, I will try to snap some pics.
  4. Nothing encouraging lately, unfortunately.
  5. I am not sure about this. WHile i lived there, people always speculated that Cha and Graffiti would both close because there was never anyone there, especially on weeknights. But they do parties/events consistently and when the weather is nice in summer they get good crowds. So i guess my answer is I dont know, there was speculation two years ago it wasnt working out. The problem with business owners that see that area is they look at Battery Park and see dollar signs. There are only a couple hundred units in the immediate area there. They arent going to eat out every night and if they do, they will likely go several places. If i am a business owner, im not changing anything until the Edison opens. 250+ units down the street, you may as well wait and see if that moves the needle. I go to Cha almost weekly for pizza. It will get crowded Thursday-Saturday but is slower on weeknights. Their pizza is thin (which I love), but it is honestly some of the best pizza in the city, in my opinion. Decent wine list as well. Just from my observations, I think Cha is profitable this year and won't need to grind its teeth to stay open until the Edison opens. I cannot speak to Graffiti, however.
  6. Looks clean!!! I would assume that the cost of window installation on the side of a 300' building is an extreme investment. I think that would be another benefit of selling condos instead of renting apartments.
  7. I had a few drinks this weekend a couple of friends, among which was someone whose word I trust very deeply, especially with development and real estate in Cuyahoga County. It is her impression that neither 515 or nucleus, the two main Stark projects, will not see any physical genesis in 2017. I know that is not startling for nucleus, which looks like it may not be realized at all. I was, however, surprised to hear that about 515, as it was my understanding that construction would begin in a couple of months. I am praying she is wrong, but she seldom has been in the past. Has anyone else heard anything to the contrary? I was not well-equipped with facts enough to argue with her, but I thought financing was all but done on 515.
  8. Sorry, they won't attach from my phone. I'll try on my computer tomorrow.
  9. I took these today. MAJOR construction going on inside. Welders everywhere.
  10. Just spoke with someone close to Stark. They've been moving on this project with third parties with the intention on breaking groun (or breaking roof) by early Feb
  11. I wonder if they built this with the anticipation that nothing would ever be built in that parking lot and they could use it for watch parties ... OR ... if they believe that will be an outdoor dining area for nuCLEus
  12. I was actually privy to an early look. Nothing about the development give me the impression that anything was being done in haste or cheaply. Around 2003, I though Tremont Pointe (MIGHT have the wrong name, mixed-income housing right off 271) was going to be cheaply done, and I was completely wrong. In my estimate the Edison seems better off, more innovative, and attractive as well.
  13. Talk about workforce participation rate, inflation, border security, ISIS, etc. all you want. The reason this nature is currently viewed negatively is because we no longer appreciate meat. I salivate every time I walk through there, and if gorge myself to death, then so be it... that's the way I want to go. But in all seriousness, I think mixing the millenial-preferred sustainability-driven shops with the good old fashion butchers and bakers would do the place some good. Though, it certainly would not address the cost issue, especially when Dave's is .25 miles away.
  14. It is refreshing that they said they would break ground and ACTUALLY DID, very nice to see.
  15. Were there ever any envisioned specs provided for this project?
  16. IIRC, the CAC had parking rights at the Allerton garage, formerly on E12th. While you were at the Club, the lot would wash and detail your car. When I was a member we had access to the Statler Arms deck, but it wasn't free. Looking back, they probably should've offered a valet service option as part of the monthly fee. I always wished they'd had squash courts. The parking never really bugged me because I would walk a block from work.
  17. IIRC, the CAC had parking rights at the Allerton garage, formerly on E12th. While you were at the Club, the lot would wash and detail your car. I heard that a couple floors would be offered as condominiums, with the rest being for-rent apartments. Has anyone else heard anything of the sort?? P.s. A worker at the site told me this today as I walked down Euclid
  18. I work in the IMG Building and we use it as a garage. It is quite usual for me to have to wipe off spots on my car from rust dripping in the garage. The personnel of the garage, however, is terrific.
  19. Yeah I went to Beerhead, Punch Bowl, and Big Bang on Saturday and the crowds were fine
  20. Sorry, I should clarify...I'm not saying this project is going down like Pesht...I am just saying that some of us are more skeptical of Stark than others because of his long history of over-promising in the city while actually building in the suburbs. Bingo. And believe me, I very badly want to be wrong.
  21. Personally, I think it would be great if it was a 30 story project. From a skyline view I think it would lead to a denser look to the area north of Gateway. And if it takes a smaller main building to get this project off the ground, so be it. I have heard nothing but Stalemate about this project. Though, I still hold onto my CLE optimism.
  22. Are there still issues with loiterers and theft/vandalism in the parking lots at Stonebridge? I heard that a couple years back, thought it was here. If they've fixed that, good. The tower is senior housing so that's going to be in better shape. I definitely think they could make one hell of a neighborhood there except for the smell issue, and my CPD sources say just about all the crime in the W. 25th district comes from there. I also live at Stonebridge. There are NOTHING but problems from those apartments. I leave for work at 5:30am every day and I cannot remember the last time I did not drive past at least one car with a window busted out. I challenge each of you, take a right on Detroit Ave (the Viaduct Street), about 1/8 of a mile to your right there will be a row of cars. Once a week, Stonebridge Security picks up the broken glass from a car, and the next week there is new broken glass. If any of you were to drive past right now, I promise you would find glass on the ground from a break in. Before I paid for covered parking, my car was broken into twice.
  23. the flats proved to be a better Environment 4 Business
  24. Honestly furious after reading that
