The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
FWIW - one bad season would tank Fickell's value. This was a good move for him.

Agreed - I love it, unfortunately it Comes complete with an opioid-addicted lady who will harass you for money "for her grandkids" every time you walk by

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Just heard from a neighbor (this may be relevant to you @Clefan98) that because he got an offer and interest, that surely a bigger one must be out there. Though, supposedly, he heard Sam still intends to get rid of them, so finger's crossed. But to your point, he tore down two homes at the end of our street that were condemned, and asked a lady walking by to take a video with him talking about how much he means to the community. So yeah - not a typical guy lol.

When I saw you quoted me, I was hoping you were going to tell me to shut up and that I didn't know what I was talking about lol. I am MASSIVELY bummed. Beyond that - they're putting the new siding on incorrectly. It looks awful.

My wife might be getting there lol. His parcels are at the top of our block and to say they're blighted would be a euphemism

It's been closed for over a year at this point - and last I heard the owner had been made an outstanding offer on the property. But he's been his own worst enemy in such situations in the past, which appears to be the case again.

The Big Egg is currently putting up new siding... which can only mean one thing... Sam has once again blown up another deal and will NOT be selling his parcels. *Punches the air in absolute rage*

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Again - a Dem just won the governor's race in Kansas - f'ing Kansas. Want to know why? Dems showed up. Until that's addressed in the 3 C's, nothing will change. Dems have the numbers in Ohio, but most just stay home - and that's been true for the last 14 years regardless of candidate.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Nan Whaley was pretty darn progressive. Until voter turnout changes, you could run AOC or Bernie Sanders and it won't matter. We've had very progressive local candidates, and turnout doesn't seem to fluctuate with them

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Lol - projection is wild. Until Cleveland gets above a 30% participation rate, let's pass on these memes. Ryan flipped exurbs and rural votes and outpaces both Biden and Whaley significantly in key areas. All the cities had to do was show up. But they never do. I follow a stats geek on twitter that said a 50 - 55% participation rate in the 3 Cs would've been more than enough for Ryan to win. I'm bad at math so I fully admit I'm unable to verify that stat on my own.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Respectfully disagree, I'm not sure Rob Portman frequently went on Tucker to assert that Ted Strickland would flood Ohio with illegal immigrants and have the government pay for them to have gender reassignment surgeries. If you want to say that was just him throwing out red meat to the base, then he's a POS, not an opportunist. Tim Ryan was an opportunist in the sense that he talked about voting with Trump on trade after bashing him for 4 years... that's a far cry from Vance's 180 and conduct.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
He's an opportunist above all else, so it could be possible

Road Biking in Cleveland?
^As an aside I've ridden this section of Pearl Road at least 2-3x and it's great. Links directly to the MetroParks' Big Creek trails.

Road Biking in Cleveland?
It’s awkward when Parma Heights has better biking infrastructure on its primary thoroughfare than Cleveland.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park
I'm not as looped in on this as other topics, but I've heard from a couple people that Peninsula has a vision of becoming a "country house" town for Cleveland, Columbus, and Akron. Meaning, they'd like to have enough shops, restaurants, etc. in town to make it worth staying a few days at a time or, even better, retiring there.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Heard some rumblings about an expansion of the central business district in Downtown Peninsula - nothing major, looking to add a denser on-street presence with 2-3 more buildings and 8-10 shops/restaurants. I hope it happens, within the bounds of historical reverence for the area, but that would be terrific for CVNP.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
A mentor of mine told me this after I passed the bar: "It's a hell of a way to earn a living, if not for the clients."

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I heard from someone with intimate knowledge of the project that Bobby George isn't going quietly into the night as everyone had hoped following their agreement. It's not flat out stalling things, but it's definitely expediting it

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Guys - Kevin Stefanski has the NFL's 6th best offense with a backup QB and a patchwork OL. I'll give you more thoughts during the bye week - but this is the hill I'm dying thriving on - he's our guy long term.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
So I think I'm pretty qualified to speak on this. I take the 26 to work and walk through Public Square and/or bike to work weather permitting at least 2-3 days a week. I've experienced homeless people on PS, and I've been there as early as 5am on a weekday. I've never once been threatened or felt uneasy. Moreover, compared to most major metros, Cleveland has a relatively small homeless population. As someone who utilizes the sitting spaces at PS to eat lunch pretty frequently, I'm not sure why SW wouldn't want benches, especially when they'll have a full time security staff at the facility. As for the part of your statement that I bolded, @E Rocc, I really like you (from our interactions on here), and I think you're a good dude... but this is so bat-sh** crazy of a thing to say and complete misses the problems that mentally ill individuals face. Part of "wanting" to get better, is having the mental clarity and capacity to understand the problem, which allows you to identify moments where corrective behavior is needed - physical ailments afford the individual an opportunity to assess situations, where mental episodes do not. I personally know several mentally ill individuals who got better, but it took a REALLY long time for that reason exactly, despite the fact that they wanted nothing more than to be "okay" the whole time. You're right though, Cleveland would benefit from a more substantial law enforcement presence - and it's not just as simple as waving a wand and saying "social worker" to deal with some individuals. But overall, it's still a safe place to be.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Agreed - I think Dolan would've won this race by close to 10... but he might've gotten outflanked from the right by someone else. I honestly think Tim Ryan wins this one, though I'm likely wrong. But Baldwin Wallace's most recent poll is the only one that had over 20% of participants under the age of 40, and that age demographic makes up close to 30-35% of Ohio's registered voters - Ryan leads by a few points there.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
To my Dem friends, I hope you are all taking note of Tim Ryan's campaign. This is how you have to win elections. Ignore "culture war" talking points, and run center to center-left candidates. Dude is getting virtually no support from the DNC and is somehow polling ahead of JD Vance, who's receiving the full arsenal of GOP funds and resources.
