  1. For reference, I've taken two of the most direct path "layover" flights to Dublin - Boston and Toronto. Both were at least 9 hours of travel time, even when I only had a 40 minute layover in Boston. I can't tell you how huge this is. I have cousins in Ireland that I see once every 5 years planning to come here for July 4th annually now.

I love you @Cleburger, and I feel like you're being sarcastic here so I'll assume you are and direct my ire elsewhere lol. But we now have objective evidence of Kevin Stefanski elevating QB play - with Baker and Jacoby in particular. Both QBs he's had are average at best - but he gets them to reach into that top 3rd of QB play. IMAGINE what he will do with Deshaun Watson, a QB who can throw on the run AND sling it from the pocket. Guys - Deshaun Watson is a top 5 talent at QB, and he'll be under a coach that puts his QBs in excellent positions to be successful. Let's not "Cleveland sports fan" ourselves into questioning if 2+2 really does = 4.
  3. To be fair - suburbs like Rocky River, Chagrin Falls, Shaker Heights, and Lakewood are still attractive to people my age - but that's because they all have walkable CBDs. That's a HUGE desire of millennials.
  4. My 8 closest friends and I were all born in Parma, Parma Heights, Strongsville, North Royalton, and Olmsted Falls. All of us are now in Ohio City or Detroit Shoreway. 4 of us have kids or are expecting. 5 of us have advanced degrees. Our generation abhors commutes and wants to be able to walk places. It's already changing, btw. Brecksville, which was a boom town the last 30 years, just consolidated their elementary schools after a half decade of declining enrollment.
  5. I've heard rumblings for the better part of a year that BA sees Cleveland as a market it can exploit for cheap overhead, and an airport that will bend over backwards for them. It would make a lot of sense to see if this is part of a long game to turn Cleveland into a feeder airport. This is a much bigger deal than IcelandAir was

I was fortunate (lol) enough to be on hands team through college - getting it out of bounds is a better result than falling on it.

Okay folks, here's the breakdown as I see it: Overall - We still have some stupid penalties, which ultimately falls on the HC - that needs to be cleaned up. - I cannot tell you how difficult it is to bounce back from a debilitating loss like that, especially against a team that's historically had your number. The Browns, and the fan base, should be proud of that resilience. That loss could've been a season defining moment in the negative, but it looks like this squad decided to just let it be a chink in the armor, which is phenomenal and speaks to their mental toughness. Offense - If anyone still questions Stefanski, idk what to tell ya man. I keep having people text me about the pass on 3rd and 1, and I agree it looks like a bad call and probably was. However, if Stefanski's film study told him that the Steelers go Cover 0 on 3rd and 1 near mid field and send pressure, then lining up to pass put the Browns in the best position possible to convert. Again, it was probably a bad call - but look at the full body of work (see below) - The Browns are averaging 26.3 Offensive PPG this year - with Jacoby Brissett (and absent Jack Conklin for 2 games). If you don't see that as the work of a very skilled play caller, IDK what to do for you. - Stefanski has put Brissett in positions where he can be successful, and Brissett has grabbed the opportunity by the haunches. The run / pass balance is wonderful at the moment - and we've done an incredible job getting Hunt touches (FB dive, tunnel screen from the slot, etc.). We showed A LOT of 13 personnel this week, which forces the Falcons to prepare for it. I'm predicting that the Falcons game will see a lot of RPO and play action to our TEs as a counter to the Falcons game planning. - We did an incredible job attacking the Steelers zone coverage - especially Njoku, who deserves some recognition for his improvement as a student of the game and a blocker. - Amari Cooper is very good - even though he had a couple avoidable mistakes yesterday - especially running out of bounds. His route running is among the best in the NFL. - Nicholas Chubb. That's all. Defense - Joe Woods needs to help Myles out. I focused on Myles most snaps yesterday, and we seldom send zone blitzes to his side of the field, especially when he's lined up to the boundary. FORCE them to play Myles 1 on 1 with a tackle. Instead, Woods assisted the LDEs when rotated (which I understand, but don't agree with). Once we have Clowney back, I'd love to see him line Myles up as a 3 tech against a guard in some passing situations. Get him isolated and give him a two-way go - watch him eat. - Jacob Phillips and Takitaki did an excellent job when called upon - especially in a tough circumstance. They should be proud. - It didn't make headlines, but when Grant Delpit broke down, kept his feet moving, and made the tackle on Diontae Johnson in the open field on 2nd and 8 to keep the Steelers in a 3rd down situation, he likely saved a score. It was extremely impressive and not easy to do in the open field. - Our secondary still struggled with communication - I'd like to see John Johnson take more of a player/coach role in the secondary, and ensure that calls are communicated. We really struggle in Cover 2, and 6 to the boundary - that's usually an in-play communication issue. We all wish the Browns were 3-0, but we all would've gladly taken a 2-1 start before the season began, so let's be happy. Imo, we need to get to 5-6 by Deshaun's return to give ourselves a shot at a playoff run.
  8. Let me preface this by saying I think Ohtani is incredible, and I don't think enough of us appreciate just truly how special he is... Having said that - if you're working as a pitcher and a hitter to contribute to your team and they still don't make the playoffs... I get why that could actually be a knock against him.
  9. Yeah those rankings appear to be trash. Removing aesthetics, Cleveland is one of the most efficient airports I use regularly.
  10. *Obligatory world class signage post*
  11. Yeah i don't see Whaley getting within 6% of Dewine.
  12. I think people in WNY, to a smaller extent, view Cleveland the way Clevelanders view Chicago. I know several Clevelanders that moved to Chicago (some have since returned) post-grad, and I know several people from Greater Buffalo that moved here post-grad.
  13. It was only this week. I walk the dog twice a day.
  14. I did one of @KJP's favorite pastimes on my walks this week, Monday - today, and tracked out of state license plates in my neighborhood. My walks were all between Bridge and Detroit, spanning from W. 58th as the furthest west street, to W. 28th as the furthest east. I didn't hit every street, but I covered a lot. By State: California - 4 Colorado - 2 Connecticut - 2 Illinois - 11 New York - 21 Pennsylvania - 6 North Carolina - 1 Michigan - 3 Massachusetts - 3 Indiana - 5 Florida - 9 Virginia - 1 Georgia - 1

Hence the problem with emotion-based politics

All I get are "Taxin Tim Ryan" ads
  17. As an aside - my neighbor actually approached me when I was walking my dog to discuss what he'd heard about it - his send off was "Sam will kamikaze it"
  18. Encouraging no less! As someone who'd live 500ish feet from any new development on those parcels, I'm excited.
  19. I live on 50th so I walked there frequently. Having said that, things went from "quirky and greasy" to "okay this is a bit f****d" pretty quick though lol
  20. Heard a rumor at dinner on Saturday that a developer is in advanced talks to buy the Big Egg and the car lot (2+ acres) across the street to make a mixed-use retail and residential development. I know the owner of the Big Egg is wildly unrealistic about what that location is worth, so I'm not holding my breath

Lol - some thoughts: Offense: Kevin Stefanski is a gem, folks. He put Brisett in some incredible situations and Brisett just wasn't able to make the throw or read. At least 4x we had open receivers for a first down (or 6 pts in the instance of Amari Cooper's fade to the boundary) and Brisett just missed him or didn't see them. He also did a phenomenal job getting Schwartz's confidence back - get him involved in jet sweeps and in space and get him thinking of the game again instead of drops; that's what a good coach and a good leader does when you have a great talent that's struggling. Finally, he incorporated the run about as well as he could without making us one dimensional behind a line missing two starters. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are phenomenal talents - hats off to both of them. If there's one thing I'd like to see Stefanski do more of is RPO out of 12 personnel. We have two tight ends that are good blockers and pass catchers - give them an advantage by selling run to an OLB and then getting him manned in coverage or, alternatively, selling run and then allowing him to find a pocket in the zone in the SCIF. Reward Njoku and Harrison, they both work their ass off. I don't love Amari Cooper's effort. He seemed really frustrated with Brisett and it reflected in his body language on and off the field. Twice he had a bench route and very clear didn't accelerate out of the break. I hope that gets worked out. Defense: John Johnson and Grant Delpit were very disappointing. Both had blown coverages that resulted in game changing plays. It's a real example of doing your 1/11th when you're on the field. It's always tough to say this because we gave up some big plays, but the rest of the defense was stellar. Myles had an awesome game, Anthony Walker was an animal, Newsome stood out playing manned up to the field, and Emerson stepped in and made some big tackles in his NFL debut. There's a lot to be encouraged about, and our biggest errors are very correctable. When Myles is in a wide 9 with a TE to his side to help, I'd like to see us adjust to a blitz more often in that set. Show with the OLB and bring him 1 on 1 against the tackle, put the TE and tackle to a decision - if you show early, you may be able to get the play switched and the see the TE realign. While there's still some slopiness (albeit against a very very good RB), we were much improved in tackling. We wrapped up, grabbed cloth, drove our feet, and rolled. Our defense will keep us in some games this year we otherwise shouldn't be in. Special Teams: Felton has some confidence issues. We're taught as early as HS, "if you can't get your hips under it, don't field it." I like that the coaches didn't give up on him, but he has to be on an EXTREMELY short leash moving forward. Cade York. It would've been good from 70. Nuff said. Overall: We went on the road, with a backup QB, and 2 missing OL and won a season opener. Quite frankly, the Browns dominated 85% of the game - and John Johnson's blown coverage is the only reason we weren't able to just run the clock out earlier. I'm very encouraged by what I saw. Looking towards Week 12 when we get Deshaun back, I think this team will be 5-6 or 6-5 if we're very lucky. If we get 5 wins in the first 11 games and stay relatively healthy, this team will be a PROBLEM with an elite QB.
