HB 616 ("Don't Say Gay" / CRT Bill)
FWIW - We watched that at my Catholic grade school circa 1998

HB 616 ("Don't Say Gay" / CRT Bill)
Just putting it out there as a Conservative: 1. I'm not necessarily comfortable with sexuality being taught to kids prior to 4th/5th grade. (though I don't think that's happening in most classrooms). Having said that... 2. If a book or teacher can "turn" your child gay... your child probably is gay. As a hetero boy, I would've never looked at a book that discusses homosexuality or bisexuality and been like "oh damn, I better start crushing on guys"....

Crane(s) will be prominent for Browns season!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
The bar at the Wellness Hotel will be on the 5th floor, and only accessible by stairs. That way you have to burn some cals before they shove booze down your throat

Alcatraz in Lake Erie, anybody??

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Went by the huts in Hingetown today, and I think the little common area in between all of them could be really cool, if utilized. Any word on what, precisely, will be opening up in there?

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
It is the single most disgusting building I've ever been in - and to put things in perspective, I visited a slum in Havana with one toilet per every 40 residents and an open sewer.

Maybe a dumb question: but why even close off there area then?

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
I love your idea in theory - but I think CAK and CLE still compete for too many regional flights (especially to SC, GA, and FL) for either to be willing to invest in such an idea.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
There is still Lost Nation and Cuyahoga County Airport - not to mention Hopkins - to service charter flights. Though, to your point, Chicago closed their lakefront airport and immediately surrendered their "big city status"

My great grandfather was an Irish immigrant and a steel worker. He died on the construction of the Terminal Tower. Easy to see how

^Fortunately for you - the project is on ice for the foreseeable future lol

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
To Foraker's point. It would be closed to cars, not pedestrians. That was actually a major point for SIHS in the discussions. It would have been covered pedestrian access

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I think it may be dependent on the parcel - but due diligence is going to be necessary for virtually the entire peninsula, given the industrial history

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I certainly hope you're right. I think the timeframe might not be as rapid as you think, though, given the environmental remediation steps that will have to be taken at most sites. To your point, though, I think once momentum starts, development in the area will be exponential.

I challenge you to go by Kyle and McLaughlin Fields in the summer and find a single night where children and families aren't playing and utilizing the space.
-
Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I was just thinking the same thing. Especially with the addition of Kyle and McLaughlin Fields as public spaces. Ignatius essentially foot a $4 million bill, maintains the space, and then allows the surrounding neighborhood to use it at will. The parking lot on 28th is really the only obvious issue, IMO.

I apologize for how crude this is - but I'm nowhere near as talented as the rest of you with design lol. In short, the black dimensions were the suggested new location of the field, and the yellow outlines represents bleacher space, with retractable risers for track events. FWIW - this wasn't conjecture. This was very much in the works not long ago. I suspect it will be revived before long. The design contemplated 7,500 - 10,000 seating capacity.

Sorry! Yes, 28th! My mistake.

^And to add to the post above, the school would much prefer that it would not remain a lot, but rather a garage with a facade
-
Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
There's still very much something in the works for that lot, which would include a parking garage. I can't say too much, but the school (and GLBC) are still very much interested in shutting down 29th between Carroll Ct. and Lorain, adjusting Wasmer Field eastward, and building a home stadium on campus. We've come close twice, both times different, unique issues stopped it from becoming a reality.

A college friend of mine is an architect, and I always remember him casually saying "clear glass is our way of telling the world, 'this building is breathing'"
