  2. Sorry - couldn't find a better way to share this... But I'm reading a book on the few weeks before Lincoln's initial inauguration, and his visit to Northeast Ohio (and the landscape he found there) is described in detail. Thought this was too cool not to share:
  3. This was my submission - solely an effort to raise Cleveland's abysmal voter turnout, nothing more...
  4. The most frequent gripe I've seen is about the time between sales vs the price increase.
  5. I don't think I've ever seen a Cleveland-area real estate listing make so many people angry on social media because of an asking price. Looks like they dropped $50k, which is something, but this is still kind of out there. I sent it to my realtor and he told me he probably would've walked from the listing if they insisted on asking that. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1828-W-48th-St_Cleveland_OH_44102_M43315-18977
  6. Tell me he’s not running… https://www.linkedin.com/posts/terrycoyne_the-new-administration-has-said-it-is-going-activity-7289018759107772416-YdGj?utm_medium=ios_app&utm_source=social_share_sheet&utm_campaign=copy_link
  7. Funny you say that - the thing that sold me on our house was 1) HOA pool where most people gather frequently in the summers, and 2), we have sidewalk access from our home directly to a) the rec center, and b) the local shopping center that includes restaurants, ice cream, and the Aldi we go to.
  8. Moved from Ohio City to Broadview Hts in September - 1,800 SF 3B3B built in 1900, had many of the same concerns you did. Our new home is larger than we anticipated we'd buy, but it's worked well. Re: the political differences, I think you'd be shocked. The conservatives in the burbs are just louder lol, my precinct is historically conservative and was 51/49 Trump in November.
  9. FWIW, Europe has some awful and sprawling suburbs as well... not as bad as ours but still not great. The difference is, though, that most of those suburbs are still reached by train or decent public transit. Philadelphia is a great example of how that could actually work here. My coworker lives on the Main Line in Philly, in what can only be described as "sprawl", but walks .7 miles every morning to the train station to head into work.

Just finished Cobalt Red by Siddharth Kara. For anyone interested in the current state of human rights violations abroad... hooo boy

I'm sure I'm lacking nuance here.... But is it just me, or does anyone else feel like JobsOhio might as well be a proxy business development rep for Greater Columbus, with Cincinnati, Cleveland, et al being secondary considerations.
  12. I guess lost in all of this is that there's a difference between where a company is incorporated and where it's operational HQ is
  13. It doesn't make sense on its face. CC's operations are better than U.S. Steel's, Ohio is objectively a better state for business ops, and the workforce required for CC or USS doesn't require a hive of universities. I don't understand it.
  14. Yeah Goncalves doesn't mince words.
  15. FWIW - I have cousins in Southie who HATE this project (I disagree with them, but I don't live there lol.) They've lost several friends and families to the suburbs after Seaport made Southie a YoPro destination and, thereby, a more expensive place to live. As a reference, my cousin used to pay $220/month in 2016 for a designated parking spot for their family's one car. The same spot today costs $850/month. Again, I LOVE the Seaport District, though, and, unlike in Boston, our lakefront really doesn't have an "attached" neighborhood other than Downtown for this sort of spillover.
  16. Agreed - I go to Philly twice a year for work, and our HQ is on the Main Line - I'm always shocked
  17. Honestly this isn't meant to be sarcastic - I'm genuinely asking... But have any of you ever booked a flight based upon the facilities at the airport of departure? I've certainly made that decision re: operations (i.e. Laguardia vs. JFK in the past), but never facilities.
  18. I don't hate Hopkins - I actually think it's relatively efficient. What worries me about the redesign, though, is that we're going to blow 30-40% of the overall budget on consulting and design, missing some opportunities to make some small, but important, changes to begin the renovations. Also, we don't give United enough sh*t for holding us hostage on Terminal D.
  19. Imo our aim should be Kansas City... just went there for work and that is a BEAUTIFUL, mid-sized airport.
  20. Yeah, I think the law would absolutely be a violation of the Commerce Clause and arguably the 5th and/or 14th Amendment as well.
  21. I heard rumors about a certain figure in Cleveland real estate establishing residency in the city to run for mayor...
  22. That was Brook Park Skateland for me - RIP!
  23. As someone with a bit of background in construction from my summer jobs in college... Take the free storage locations for equipment whenever you can 🤣
  24. Also - how many Final 4s and/or Super Bowls has Detroit hosted since Ford Field opened....
