  1. Baker Hostetler, Squire Patton Boggs, Thompson Hine, Benesch, Hahn Loeser, Frantz Ward, Ulmer & Berne, and Reminger all have their offices within .25 miles to the Justice Center. I'd have to believe each of these firms would do their best to influence the location based upon that fact alone - and most of Cleveland's power broker attorneys practice at one of the above shops.
  2. If something like Norton Commons is, in fact, their idea, then there would be a fair amount of retail, restaurants, offices, etc. on the "town square or "village green" area
  3. Okay - trying to find out more for my good friend @KJP, but I just went to happy hour (in person again finally) with an old classmate who claims to know an out-of-town developer eyeing Thunderbird for a residential redevelopment. This is very speculative, but that's obviously what we do here - gossip. Nonetheless, the hope would be to: 1. Obtain a MASSIVE zoning variance; 2. Revert to some old street plan that used to be on the peninsula (does anyone know about this?); 3. Build code-driven single family homes, between 2,400 - 4,000 square feet, with no driveways (parking in allies behind homes) 4. The goal would be to attract middle to upper middle class families in the 30-45 year old range that want to live in the city but currently don't see a "safe" alternative (i.e. their mother-in-law thinks Ohio City is a danger zone); 5. And my favorite of all (as some of you know how much I love this development) - Communities like Norton Commons outside of Louisville are what's in mind with the proposal. I have a call in with a friend to make sure this isn't a completely BS rumor - but figured I'd share with the UO fam for now, as even the idea of a holistic development like this has me excited.
  4. Well - if my wife ever admits it, I'll high five her. There's a company cleaning up the debris as we speak lol
  5. I'm not sure about this - but I was told by a friend that he's relocating to Columbus full time, in short, because he's tired of this "liberal BS" If that's true, I think he'll only make investments in Cleveland he intends to do something with. And FWIW, I think the billboard revenue will essentially preclude him from an eminent domain case, or at least make the price so high that the government won't want to deal with it.
  6. So the Nations League actually has a relegation system that's constantly in flux, with countries moving in and dropping out. This culminates with a "group" tournament style competition - the winner of which qualifies for the Gold Cup. Nation's League essentially ensures that enough intra-CONCACAF play is occurring. The Gold Cup has it's own qualifications and is by far the more prestigious competition and is every other year. In sum, the formatting and prestige are the only two differences. Having said that - for the first time in my lifetime the US has a soccer team that should genuinely expect to compete at a high level in next year's World Cup, and potentially be legitimate contenders in 2026.
  7. Lol someone in our block club has had enough of her BS
  8. Thanks for the information - but maybe leave the punchable face comments to a forum where some of us aren't close with the individuals you'd like to assault. FWIW Watson is the worrrsssssttttt.
  9. FWIW - Pearl Road in Parma Heights got a bit of a road diet, with a tree lined median now spanning a little over a mile in lieu of a turning lane. Looks really nice and seems to help with pedestrian safety along Pearl
  10. Yup - and from the very limited amount I've spoken with him - it would have a major emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing. Essentially Town Hall minus the misinformation, graphic tees, xenophobia, and misogyny
  11. FWIW - I have an acquaintance that has been telling people he is dead set on opening a steak house in there.
  12. Not to get too far astray - but I am familiar with a transaction for a rezoned triplex that took 8 business days after close to be reflected on the website.
  13. I just keep refreshing the page - because I know someone from North Ridgeville is going to come on here to tell us the project is DEAD because no one wants to live downtown. Nonetheless, there were guys there this morning when I was walking to work, and they were wearing hard hats just to look at the area near the sidewalk and fencing - so I assume that the area is already considered "active" and hence the hats to comply with regulations. But that's just a guess
  14. Love that idea. And I'm not trying to be a downer at all, the development is thoughtful and a net positive on the area. I'm just surprised those tenants are already resolved / in there.
  15. So I have to say - I've been a little disappointed in the lack of retail on the ground floor at this point. I know there's some external factors with the pandemic, but having only a chiropractor in such a dynamic space is a little concerning.
  16. Some progress being made - though much of the work lately has been on the interior - i.e. hanging drywall and getting electric set up. If MyPlace does the landscaping right, this building really could have a nice relationship with Franklin. Pardon the trash heap from the home across the street.
  17. My new office window should have a nice view of the crane once it rises above some of those smaller buildings along Euclid.
  18. Hi guys - if anyone in and around Ohio City needs or wants dirt, I've got about 10-12 wheel barrels worth in my front yard. It'll be available until tomorrow afternoon - if it's not taken by then I'm pitching it. Let me know if you're interested.
  19. I'm not sure but I plan on finding out lol
  20. All of the neighbors did and they were cited at the beginning of April... still like that
  21. FWIW - I wish Lindsey Gottlieb all the best as she leaves the Cavs for USC... However, her and her husband have left their "investment" property next to me like this since February...
  22. Can someone give me some nuance to the W 50th situation? I was unaware and I'm a resident of the street.
  23. Yup - tried to squeeze and got smashed.
  24. So many - Hingetown and Market St. too. Can't wait for new leadership
  25. And yet Cleveland has.....
