NIMBYs protesting outside of the illustrious, historical, vibrant, pedestrian-welcoming, and very much still in use Club Azteca to stop it from being torn down and replaced by v lame, ugly, cheap development. i hope you all can sense my sarcasm because I’m laying it on pretty thick

  13. No he gutted it. New driveway, new walls, new counters, new floors, added a livable basement section. He did it all on his own, pretty much after work 5-6 days a week. Gotta hand it to him. (though I hate the kitchen floors) lol

  15. This house is across the street from us and I watched the guy put his heart and soul into rehabbing it the last 2 years - and I'm happy to see him finally get to list it. Nonetheless, I think he short changed himself a bit on the price.     We're actually in the process of buying a place up there (with the hope of using it 6-8x a year and renting it out the rest). So we've been up there at random this year based upon showings. In the past, we always do a trip with our friends the last weekend of January, but that was canceled this year.

    Imo - I think it has to be Tim Ryan. He's a Sherrod clone and Sherrod is one of the few dems that can grab SEO's GOP votes. Otherwise, Dems would have to rely on MASSIVE turnout in the 3 C's and based on November, there's no reason to trust that will be the case.
  21. FWIW - I've heard that W. 29th between Clinton and Detroit will be pedestrian only within the next 2 years - likely faster if Bibb is elected.

To @OC_Charlie's point, I think the project would benefit more from an aesthetic more appropriate to the neighborhood, i.e. red brick with finishes that make it blend with the homes in the neighborhood. I'm a YIMBY on just about every project, and I believe there should be additional density in this location, but I think design review is warranted. If we look at buildings that add density and aesthetic, I think Clinton West and the Dexter should be our blueprints for OC moving forward.

But she tried to tell me her landlord called her and demanded that I replace her garage or give her $5,000 because I "dented it".... by complete coincidence, my cousin is her landlord, and said no such thing. So that's the kind of rationality we're dealing with. Anyways, Team YIMBY
