Random, Crazy, Euro-Inspired Development Idea
So, I figured no thread was appropriate for this - so I started it here. Yesterday, as I often do, I was reading before bed - and part of the subject-matter had to do with European rebuilds after WWII... Which then led me to GoogleMaps to look up some of these towns.. which then led to this string of crazy thoughts... I know there are developments like Crocker, Legacy, Eaton, etc. all over the country, and I guess that's similar to what I'm proposing... Nonetheless, I have yet to find an urbanized development similar to the European towns I've linked below. Why is that? I imagine that there the appeal would be there for a 2/3 acre, developed, pedestrian-oriented town center wherein all basic necessities can be handled. A mix of apartments, townhomes, and even free standing homes could be included, and all residents could be within a 10 minute walk to all necessities. https://www.google.com/maps/@48.7346793,7.0533208,3a,75y,93.99h,86.82t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGmG7DyVMvsY_23cRXf-ZjA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 https://www.google.com/maps/@46.5885921,1.5192555,3a,75y,39.22h,89.51t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sXjvNvPe-iEKKPnyrIWt0jg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 https://www.google.com/maps/@50.7160842,4.6094334,3a,75y,88.49h,83.4t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1swpSxsnqvGWN5pZ20H9fY9Q!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DwpSxsnqvGWN5pZ20H9fY9Q%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D1.2012751%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656 I feel like it's almost a missed niche for developers - although I know next to nothing about real estate development. I just think this would be a really big draw for people and local businesses alike. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm looking for something more similar to Boston's North End than Crocker Park - does anyone know of anything like this?

My thoughts: - AOC would have been an excellent prosecutor - her line of questioning was terrific to start. However, she got a bit hyperbolic towards the end and she didn't need to - she would have made her point without the exaggeration - Beatty was extremely hyperbolic and in many ways did what the GOP currently does - scream emotional things that are low hanging fruit for your base.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Hey everyone its Friday and I'm ahead on my billable hours so here goes nothing... Pre-Game Analysis Points of Concern Pre-Snap Reads: Even in years when the Pats don't have a dominant defense, they are excellent at disguising coverages before the snap . For instance, a standard disguise would be as follows: Team shows one-high safety, indicating Cover 1 or 3, and then roll the safeties to a Cover 2 look - that's about as standard as it gets with disguises. However, the Pats pull some RIDICULOUS disguises - on Monday night I watched them give Sam Darnold a Cover 0 (all man) look pre-snap, and roll to a Cover 6 look (Cover 4 to Field, Cover 2 to boundary) - I cannot tell you how much trust that takes in re: the discipline of your players and their athletic ability. Baker struggles with the basic pre-snap coverage reads, I expect to see 3-4 plays where we just have to shake our heads - i.e. look for Baker throwing to a space expecting Cover 2, and no one is there because it's actually Cover 0 or 1 Under. Running the Ball: I know we've done it well all season, and I know Nick Chubb might actually be Jesus' distance relative... but it will be tough to run the ball this week IF the Pats run a lot of man. But that's speculation so fingers crossed. Strengths Secondary: We will have our starting secondary back this week - which will be great to see. I hope Carrie gets some play at nickel, though, because he's actually a better tackler than Denzel and Greedy. It will also help with my next point -- Pass rush: If TB12 isn't able to get a lot of 3 steps drops and quick passes, Myles, Olivier, and Larry can have a field day - they have to be symbiotic, though - as Brady has the best pocket presence in the history of the game. Preparation: I know its Bellichick and Brady. But we have a bye week, they have a short week, that will definitely help.

Ridiculous Density
I have a friend who lived there for 3 years. He met a girl and they broke up because they couldn't handle "long distance relationships".... He lived in Japan Town in the Liberdade District... she lived in Cerqueira César... 5 MILES APART FROM EACH OTHER... but the public transportation situation wasn't great and a car ride would take 45 minutes in regular traffic and over an hour in rush hour.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Lol SHW isn't leaving the dance, no worries - maybe just finding another gal in another part of the gym
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
And to build on my own analogy... The Jacobs lot is a solid 9/10 and SHW is a 10/10 - due to its own lack of self awareness, the County is a 4.5 and still has its braces - a 9 dancing with a 4.5 doesn't make much sense. Though, those of us that outkicked our coverage with our wives wonder the same thing every day

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
The analogy I just provided to a friend of mine is this: SHW is currently dancing with Public Square, and the two are having a good time. But SHW is getting seriously put off that the county is standing 5 feet away, staring at the happy couple, desperate to cut-in when SHW goes to the bathroom

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Again, Ken might as well be John the Baptist with Cleveland development - the guy is tuned in all over the place and, more times than not, he's spot on. Having said that, I believe Ken's reference to "smoothing over" was that things were smoothed over with SHW to keep them interested in the site - not to land them on it.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I've now heard from two people - for which my trust is marrow deep - that the County eyed that site up from an ambitious project of its own.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I agree - I'm not talking about that

Fingers crossed - but just remember, Cuyahoga County likes to get in its own way

Vision Zero
Hey guys - I thought of everyone this morning for all the wrong reasons and I figured I would share. I think this is the appropriate forum to share this mildly traumatizing story and my mea culpa... Before joining UrbanOhio, I had little concept of the importance of bike lanes. However, ever since I've been converted and fervently supported increased bike and pedestrian accessibility in our city. When Vision Zero was proposed, I was really excited about it, to the point that I reached out to my councilman to see if any volunteers were needed to support research, or for any other purpose to get this ball rolling. NONETHELESS - I drove my wife to the airport this morning and headed back downtown. My GPS redirected me to get off at Bellaire and take Berea Rd. to 45th to the Shoreway - so I followed along. About 10 minutes after leaving the airport, it struck. I had to poop worse than I ever had in my life (in my new car) and genuinely thought I was about to go in my work pants. I diverted from the route and decided to go home, as no GD drug stores seemed to be open and I swear to God I didn't pass a single fast food place (so goes life). I turned onto Detroit and the panic set in "I'm going to sh** myself, oh my god." I repeated to myself over and over, as the goose bumps and cold sweats overcame me. That's when I decided traffic wasn't for me, and took advantages of the clearings left by the bike lanes on this rainy morning. I know it was wrong, but I had to - and I took the final 1.2 miles of my journey speeding through a bike lane wondering how I would explain the forthcoming smell and stains on my pants to my dry cleaner. In the nick of time, I pulled into my driveway and, leaving my car door open and the car running, sprinted inside in the nick of time - saving both my dignity and my pants. As such, I would like to apologize for my solemn pledge to help bike accessibility and safety in this city, as this morning I was a raving lunatic and hypocrite. I hope you can all forgive me, and from this point forward - I shall practice what I preach in re: Vision Zero.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yeah - unless @KJP has heard differently, I've heard from a pretty good source that SHW wants at least one of its towers to be a formidable skyline presence (550-650ft), with other buildings ranging from 8-25 stories on the campus. Obviously - this will play itself out in the renderings, as even my information is still rather speculative, albeit by insiders. Moreover, if the Bedrock site is chosen, I don't see the point of a skyscraper, as it will already be 80-90 depressed beneath the rest of Downtown. The E&Y Building is the 18th tallest building downtown, but has almost no skyline impact unless you're looking from a Western angle because it's depressed beneath the rest of downtown. For those of us that love density, I don't think we could as for much more than a substantial tower and two smaller high rises to complement it, and that's what we may get at Weston or Lakefront
