Like this stretch of road. And this https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8493337,-81.6568451,3a,75y,137.34h,81.79t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sokM02f1ejvuoPR6e_mFYlw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  2. ^Westfield is a great example
  3. There still are some great small towns, though some would likely be considered exurbs. Medina, Lebanon, Mount Vernon, Middlefield, and London are still nice and charming rural or exurban towns and cities
  4. FWIW, I still find Salem really charming. It's a shame what's happening to it though. When did you grow up there? What were the big employers then?
  5. I would recommend that EVERYONE read Hillbilly Elegy - which focuses on the socioeconomic issues of Appalachian Ohio, more specifically Middletown and Hamilton. It's a great read.

Most improved player this year by far
  7. My fiancé and I had a successful hiking trip. Pictures honestly cant even begin to do the foliage justice. Everyone should put the White Mountains during peak foliage on their bucket list. Boston was fun too, but this took the cake. Pictures are from the Osceola summit, parts of the trail, and a hidden mountainous pond called East Pond, which was worth the constant uphill hike.
  8. Yeah the flight was free with our points. Couldn’t pass it up.
  9. Left Cleveland at 6am - had a layover at Midway - flew into Boston by noon. I can say happily that Cleveland was far more active than Midway this morning. I couldn’t imagine that three years ago
  10. Street car strike - 1899 Construction of Euclid Ave Opera House - circa 1872 Euclid Ave - 1900 aka Millionaire's Row Unsure of the location... But this is MIND BLOWING - this was taken during the Cuban Missile Crisis Sherwin Williams original store on Superior Ave - 1866 These homes were torn down on Euclid for the Halle Building - 1908

This is a point of confusion that annoys me. Recent conversation: Guy: This "juuling" thing has really taken off with kids. I saw an article that said it's all over high schools. Me: Yea, it's a shame because those things were invented to help people stop smoking. Guy: Leave it to millennials to ruin a good thing! I guess this guy just thought millennials meant anyone younger than him. Smoking is like socialism - it's been neutralized for a generation so younger people don't realize how awful it is.

It's like when people at "gate" to the end of the name of a controversy. Watergate was the name of the hotel - the word gate has no literal application to scandal.
  13. I summarize it for myself and a group of friends... If its in Cleveland, and we can walk from bars... we'll be there.
  14. Black Jack McGinty was my father's great uncle. The stories our family has are the stuff of Scorcese films.
  15. Lol. CLONED
  16. Does anyone know a place downtown where I can get a key replicated?
  17. Encourage*?
  18. Not too many surface lots in the warehouse district
  19. I met a guy a few weeks back who works 60 hours a week at two jobs, one pays $10.20, the other $11 an hour. He pays his widow’s family $300 a month to keep his two kids, and he stays at shelters or on the street 5 nights a week
  20. I thought racism was officially over in America. I wanted to respond that we don’t even know the identity of the shooter yet, but that would’ve been low hanging fruit
  21. Yeah KJP[/member] it’s beyond frustrating.... I woke up to a text from a not well liked acquaintance who lives in Rocky River : “Dang, shooting in Ohio City. Freaking white people keep shooting each other and destroying neighborhoods. Oh wait.” I just deleted the text and blocked the number.
  22. It’s unbelievable. In most regards, Ohio City is safer than a lot of suburbs. But I’ve been receiving text messages non-stop in the last 12 hours: 1) asking me if I’m alright, and 2) using this as an opportunity to dog whistle about the need for more rapid gentrification - aka more white people. One incident can cause that kind of reaction, I guess. But Tremont has been through a slew of these and is still doing strong, so I’m sure all will be normal in a week or so
  23. Great news KJP[/member] . Those stretches of Ridge and State are nothing but potential
  24. I went to the soft opening last week. There’s next to Heck’s Express and they’re phenomenal
  25. https://www.cleveland19.com/2018/10/02/shooting-shuts-down-ohio-city-neighborhood/ This is so upsetting.
