  1. How? By repurposing/demolishing the buildings containing Citizen Pie and Wild Cactus? Perhaps expanding all the way to the corner of West 25th/Chatham? It wouldn't be contiguous parcels. Though, I did hear this before the announcement of the development at the corner, so maybe that changes the game.
  2. A birdie told me that Voss might consider expanding their space and adding workers. Hope that's true.
  3. Cannot tell you how excited I am about this place. Bit of a bookworm and I love to booze - pray for me. I am, however, disappointed that there isn't a book share element to it.
  4. I tend to share that sentiment... However, at a certain point, we have to become a bit of a bully regionally. Columbus or Pittsburgh would have no issue doing it to us. I know we all think of Akron as this massive suburb, but it's still a regional competitor - albeit much closer than any other metro. I want what's best for Akron, as the people in that town are great. But hey - I'll take business from anywhere.
  5. I noticed them too! I was taking a bike ride and my tire was gripped by the groove in the track

I was in 5th grade... my teacher received a phone call from her mom telling her that a plane had hit a tower. Being the irresponsible person she was, my 5th grade teacher rolls the television set into our classroom and turns on the TV. About 2 minutes later, my entire class watched the second plane hit the tower in real time. I still remember the classmate sitting behind, in front of, and to each side of me on that day.
  7. I love how angry the AL is about the Donaldson move

I love these week 1 overreactions, like the people calling for Fitzpatrick to take over for Jameis in Tampa.

^^ Not sure, could be as soon as a few years or as long as another decade or so. We won states my senior year, and at the beginning of that season there were alumni saying "the game had passed him by"... so we'll see

I'd honestly take a bullet for that man. When sports translates to life, one of the greatest lessons he ever taught me was that until we played a perfect game, with no turnovers, with touchdowns every drive, with no missed tackles, with no penalties - then we can look to blame the referee. But if and when that perfect game ever comes, there will be no need to blame anyone, because we will have won. I remind myself of that all the time. When its easiest to blame someone else, always try to look in the mirror first, as painful as that may be. Same goes for the Browns team this week.

So, a couple of my takeaways from yesterday (in order of significance): 1. As someone who has played my fair share of games in that weather - it is very hard to provide an accurate diagnostic of what the team looks like when the ball weighs 3 lbs and is slippery. Having said that, both teams played under the same conditions so it went both ways. 2. There is certainly a culture shift happening - though we're not all the way there yet. Down 14 with 10 mins to play to the Steelers would have seen just about every Browns team in the last 10 years call it quits. But the defense stayed relentless, a mirror of their coach - and the offense punched it in enough in atrocious conditions to get us tied. As someone who's been on a terrible team and seeking to turn a program around, I CANNOT STRESS HOW MUCH OF A POSITIVE THIS IS. My next point illuminates why the culture shift isn't complete yet, though. 3. Our discipline, or lack thereof, is directly a reflection on Hue. Myles Garrett is dominant - period. But, the roughing the passer cost us a TD instead of a FG, and the block in the back moved us to the limits of Zane's range, which likely changed the trajectory of his kick and TJ Watt's path to the ball. 4. Buffalo lost by 40+ with a very similar roster to last year to an average Ravens team - so chill with the WE WANT BAKER mouth-breathing nonsense. Tyrod didn't have a great game, but the first ballot NFL HOF'er on the other side of the field had a substantially worse game - its hard for anyone to be accurate in that weather. The dome next week should be a fair assessment. 5. My god our defense is good. Joe Schobert, Jamie Collins, Terrance Mitchell, and of course Myles Garrett are going to be 4 of the best 10 players on the field in every game we play this year. Collins was catching a ton of flack from our mouth-breathing fan base (I love going to games, but I cannot stand listening to Johnny "I played JV football once" chirp incoherent opinions). Our ILB's are dominant from A to B gap. Would have liked to see Kirksey be more active around the C gap to the perimeter, when they ran to the strength Chris found himself flushed out a few too many times - but he's a great OLB, and he'll bounce back - it happens. 6. Hyde x Chubb x Johnson x Landry x Gordon will be downright scary in "12" personnel packages in good weather. 7. Hue Jackson will not make it past week 4 - and I'm okay with that at this point. If you're the HC and don't know the personnel package for the first play (the first 4 plays are typically scripted in practice on Friday) then you're either incoherent or your OC doesn't respect you enough to let you know he changed it - either way its a problem. 8. Our o-line struggled recognizing basic zone blitz packages, especially when they came from the field, not the boundary. I would anticipate Tyrod gets more discretion in calling pass pro in the coming weeks. 9. Ties suck
  13. I suspect Nike store is being used as a descriptor. Similar to the way Verizon has "authorized retailers" I would venture to bet that this will be a store that focuses a bulk of their sales on Nike material. That, or the people from Portland just never came to visit the site lol
  14. Lol no thank god for casual Friday
  15. Been 10 years since this thread was active, but hey.. whatever. Went to Porco on 25th last night. Had (what I thought were) 3 drinks. When I stood up, I realized I wasn't going to be able to walk home because it was dark and I was WASTED. Moral of the story - What in God's name do they put in their drinks. I'm sitting here in a dimly lit office drinking pedialite.
  16. Anyone noticed if the project converting the old county archives to supportive housing has gotten under way? I live about 300 feet away, and I actually noticed a MASSIVE increase in foot traffic to the building - I had no idea why. The other day a group of 6-7 were staring at the building out front for about a half hour.

Met him personally a few times, he was always very nice. Another one bites the dust to the cult
  18. ^That's good though. I think the density is such in that neighborhood that 4-5 restaurants can be sustainable.
  19. I read an article about a year ago about the psychological impact cranes have on investors. They had a cool anecdote about Austin, when people came into town, they felt they were in the right place because they could see a crane in every direction, and felt more confident investing.
  20. ^"This Land Would Have Been Better Served Being Redeveloped as Homes, Shops, and Green Space High School" has a nice ring to it as well
  21. It was that failed steak house for a little over a year, 811 or something?
  22. ^Cannot stress enough what an amazing add this is to Gateway
  23. I walked by today because I'm overly nosey and why not... one of the guys walking to Corbo's told me they think they'll start actual construction in early October with the crane coming somewhere near Thanksgiving to Christmas
  24. I'd personally rather have a dense complex of 2-3 buildings ranging from 300-450 than one 550+ tower
