Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Not a big fan of the wood paneled appliances/cabinets... looks kinda cheap to me... like particle board. I do, however, think they look rather charming overall.

Recession 09: Toronto
Never say never... the mall at Union Square in San Francisco is absolutely thriving. Count me in on the list of people who like Toronto... though it's rare that I run across a city I don't like. Oh, and MTS, there's not many cities out there that do it for you... so Toronto doesn't need to feel too bad!

Glasgow... Montana!
I'd be bored out of my mind living in that town... wow.

Lincoln Theatre Grand Opening - Columbus, Ohio - May 25, 2009
Awesome! Looks like they did a great job with the renovation.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Agreed. He's also hedging his liability because if The Banks winds up being successful, no one will remember this little rant. If The Banks ends up being a flop, he can say, "Look! I warned them about this way back in 2009!" Ultimately, only time will tell whether The Banks will be a success or not. I'm sure the County Commissioners don't appreciate being called out though...

PHOENIX (and Sedona) and environs
Always exciting to see a new MayDay thread posted! Thanks for sharing! The drive up Oak Creek Canyon from Sedona to Flagstaff is really nice too. Flagstaff's not a half bad place to spend a night on the weekend... quite the little party town when school's in session.

Sycamore Township: The Greens at Kenwood
Kroger and Trader Joe's don't seem to compete with each other as much as you'd think because they have very different inventory. Sure they both sell food, but Trader Joe's sells a lot of things you'd never find at Kroger. Plus, in LA at least, Trader Joe's prices kill Kroger's (Ralph's) in a lot of areas.

Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
I agree 110%. Went to Oktoberfest once and it was in some parking lot... very depressing. Never went back. Now, if they had it in beautiful GV, that would have probably won me back over for a return visit. The GV homeowners need to take one for the team and suffer for one weekend to make the city better as a whole. Victorian Village has Comfest, German Village can have Oktoberfest. Even.

Where in the world is... Sherman Cahal?
Thanks for the 2 day notice! David are you sure you want to go??? This is Sherman your talking about! You'll end up someplace like this!! Who knows if you'll return. Or an Abandoned camp. You're incorrigible!

Are you actually from Columbus?
I moved to Columbus from DC when I was 11 years old, and stayed until I was 25 and moved to LA. So I guess I'm not from Columbus, but lived there, and don't live there any more.

Columbus: Downtown: Franklin County Government Center Projects
Points for J Remy. How's that coming, by the way?

Grandview Heights: Developments and News
Fantastic news that this theatre will remain open after Drexel's abandoning ship. This theatre is a classic element of the Grandview retail area, and without it Columbus would be sorely lacking in places to see Indie movies on the westside.

Indianapolis- Lockerbie Square
Well done! Do we get some Mass Ave next? ;)

Downtown Indianapolis, part 1
Personally, I like downtown Indianapolis. I alway felt that if you combined Indy's downtown and Columbus' neighborhoods you'd have the perfect midwestern city... aside from Chicago of course.

Vieux-Montréal
Wow... you could definately pass some of those photos off as being from Europe... and that church! Thanks for sharing!

New Downtown Ballpark - Fort Wayne
What more could you possibly ask from a minor league stadium? That is absolutely beautiful!

Fontucky
That's exactly what ran through my mind. Cincitucky... well that makes sense... but Fontucky??? It kinda makes me feel sorry for non-redneck people who leave Kentucky for other places. Of course, being in California from Ohio, Ohio State is always the first thing that comes up. Beyond that, people are clueless.
-
Fontucky
Yeah, I've been out there and know it has some rural areas. My point of interest though is the use of the -tucky suffix in a region of the country that's nowhere near Kentucky.
-
Fontucky
So I'm sure everyone has heard Cincinnati derogatorily referred to as Cincitucky, or Grove City referred to as Grovetucky... but what really surprises me is that this apparently isn't a local phenomenon as I had once thought. All the way out here in SoCal we have a city in the Inland Empire called Fontana, which people jokingly call Fontucky. Do you think this is a result of transplants moving out here with anti-Kentucky biases, or do you think the whole country has an anti-Kentucky bias???

Columbus: Restaurant News & Info
I can vouch for Cafe Napolitana, used to work downtown about 4 or 5 years ago and ate there probably once a week. Loved it! Great pizza and pasta.

Columbus: Italian Village Developments and News
There was already a large scale development underway in IV when I moved away a couple years ago... I believe it was called Jefferson Commons. I thought that stalled and currently sits as a large amount of vacant land. If that's the case, I have a hard time picturing a developer thinking redeveloping the Wonder Bread factory into residential is a lucrative idea. If anything, it's just going to sit vacant for a very long time I'd imagine. I hope I'm wrong though....

Philadelphia, PA
Center City Philadelphia never ceases to amaze me, and that new tower is most definately Comcastic!

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Somebody say something about a recession? Looks like the Short North didn't get the message... oh well!

Fountain Square neighborhood - INDIANAPOLIS
Nice! That's for sharing your photos and welcome to the forum! I visited Indianapolis and spent the night there when I was traveling from Columbus to LA and was really impressed with many areas of the city. The downtown area was particularly impressive as well as Broad Ripple and the houses on Meridian heading north. Didn't get to check out Fountain Square but it looks like and interesting part of town... especially that main square area!
