Surveillance cameras in Cincinnati
London, UK has CCTV cameras everywhere, and they don't seem to infringe on people. They sure help catch criminals though... this may be the middle ground you are looking for.

Columbus: Scioto Mile Riverfront Park News
From what I understood, there was accounting involved in the Whittier. There was environmental costs that were either ignored, or estimated with far to conservative of a bias. That I believe was the deal breaker.

Columbus: Scioto Mile Riverfront Park News
Between the Whittier Peninsula plan and now this it is seeming like Columbus' Cost Accountants aren't doing a very good job projected project costs. The result is that all these great plans aren't materializing due to cost overruns. Get you act together City of Columbus!!! :whip:

SkyscraperPage information
SkyscraperPage seems to not have up-to-date information on Ohio's building projects. 1) 303 Broadway, is listed as under construction... isn't it completed? 2) Fountain Place is listed as proposed, wasn't that plan abandoned? 3) What's the status on The Pinnacle and Stonebridge Phase IV in Cleveland? The site says they should be completed already. 4) Cleveland World Trade Center Tower is proposed, is this abandoned? 5) The new Nationwide condo tower isn't listed. There are a couple others that are questionable as well... If anyone has any info on these please let me know and I will ask them to update our information. Or, if someone wants to take the initiative to do it themselves, go for it!

"On-hold/Suspended Projects" new sub-category
I move that we should add a new subsection to the Projects category titled "On-hold/Suspended Projects". This will thin out the projects section to only projects which are in the planning or construction phase.

Going to Cleveland this weekend, I was wanting to check out Tremont, Ohio City, and other assorted nice urban neighborhoods but I'm not sure where they are. Anyone know of a website that outlines the neighborhoods? Thanx

Magyar is wise beyond his years... though I really don't know how old he is... The proverbial nail has officially been hit on the head.

Eatin' good in the OTR 'hood
You really have to be there to appreciate the state it is in. I feel no safer in OTR than I would on E55.

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
I wouldn't really be too concerned about it. This move is to a new location VERY close to downtown and underutilized. I think filling in gaps around the CBD like this enhances the image of the area and can potentially pull even more jobs in. Gowdy is right next to the Cap City Diner, Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe, and Mitchell's Fish Market. When all those business types drive to those restaurants from downtown they pass Gowdy. With Gowdy developed, the area as a whole will appear healthier, and those jobs should in the future be recouperated and then some.

AK Steel Business News
So these people have been unemployed for almost 4 months now... what kind of impact has this had on the community? Has there been a noticeable decline or have things managed to limp onward at status quo?

Eatin' good in the OTR 'hood
I gotta give you a lot of credit for marching around OTR like you do and taking pictures. I'm sorry but every time I've been there I've not felt comfortable enough to get out and walk around. I usually just appreciate the architecture from the car. It's not like I'm a suburbanite who's afraid of the city, I live in the innercity, but I just find OTR unsettling. Anyways... great pictures! I love local food joints. For me in Columbus its gotta be the Blue Dube!
