I've been to Covington a few times... mostly to eat at a restaurant with my parents. I forget what its called but they have an enormous stuffed buffalo right when you walk in... Buffalo Jack's maybe... something like that.... it was the first time i have ever had rattle snake or alligator before... very interesting. :| edited:::: you knew what i meant... haha
  2. Thanks Rando.
  3. So i am sitting in Real Estate Class and we are talking about the sub-prime mortgage fiasco and the question came up, where in the Cincinnati Metro, is the foreclosure rate the most apparent. A normally very quiet girl raised her hand and said " I am from West Chester, and my mom goes running every morning, every morning she counts the number of cars that are being taken by the repo man, she counts the number of houses that get forclosed and cars that get reposessed." I almost started to cry    poor West Chester
  4. If you are interested in the Heights area, we will be having the University Heights Great American cleanup on April 26th. I think it would be a great chance for you to help out. Look on campus for announcements within the next week.
  5. I used to work at this location for about a year and a half. (only on sunday's  ) The problem was: 1. People don't eat ice cream in the winter 2. Nobody really knew that we were also a coffee house (after a year you would still get people that would say "you guys sell coffee?") 3. During the summer there are VERY few students on campus, limiting your one good season to only a few weeks before school lets out and a few weeks when it is back in session. 4. The management sucked .... I already miss Chunky Monkey in a waffle cone

I also have standing room only tickets...PM if you are interested (25 bucks)
  7. i wonder why ALL of the meetings are at nature preserves or parks... interesting
  8. As much as i agree with the streetcar. I do not think it is correct to say that a overwhelming majority of city residents agree with it. I do not think that any of the council members have delayed this process enough for me to get too upset. This is dissapointing for sure, but if she can truly garner support and financing for a CBD-OTR-Uptown link in the first phase... i think the 3 month delay is worth it. ....If she fails....bad politics...
  9. I can't believe you only have 2 to go.... simply stunning
  10. Leave it to Randy to make this thread a "East/West" thing.
  11. isn't Charlotte the city where uptown is actually downtown? i think i remember that from my visit there.
  12. it looks great. :-D
  13. I have now been to Lavomatic thrice, and i must say it is turning into one of my favorite places. So far i have been there for Dinner, Brunch and drinks. And each time something new was going on at the restaurant. Jean Robert should be commended over and over again for his excellent work and for his support of the city core.
  14. What a list... This is an enormously important post in this discussion.
  15. After Halloween 2 years a go, i ended up passing out on the courthouse steps in my full Halloween gear. I must have looked like such a bum, passing out at 10:00am after a full night of parties.
  16. not really... it has been a long standing issue. My information is that the break occurred in the late nineties
  17. University heights is now known as The Heights. The Heights broke off because CUF would not allow temporary Residents (students) to vote in their matters. This irked many residents and they voted to break off. Since then CUF has (many years) tried to get the Heights removed from the community council list because they say that they have no residents (based on their definition). The Heights was formed because students deserve a voice in the city. Millions of tax dollars are spent because of the students at the University, CUF treated them as second class citizens.
  18. Yah Flora is in CF (i intentionally left out the U... University Heights is NOT part of CUF anymore... hasn't been for about 10 years.)
  19. I agree with you. These places aren't for everyone. But there are plenty of parents out there that are going to pay for their child to live in a place like this. There is plenty of affordable housing around campus. This is just adding to the mix. I am glad to see that these smaller projects are popping up, i think it is good for the neighborhood. Right now i pay right around 465 for rent and utilities. Mommy and Daddy Pay for it.... That is a lot of money going into the economy that Mommy and daddy pay for... you get my drift...
  20. It could actually create quite an interesting view with 5-10 story buildings on both sides with the view terminating at Hughes. . . could really frame the space pretty well (if done correctly)
  21. The original proposal had buildings near the size of UPA. We will definetely have to see what Towne comes up with. I imagine it will still be in that 5-10 story range

  23. ^ They gave a presentation at the Neighborhood Summit. It sounds like a great project, and hopefully they continue to support projects like this.
  24. ^ Drove past it last night after going to Primavista in Price Hill (which was excellent). . .Lavomatic was packed when i drove by! :-D
  25. This is why they invented rubber sidewalks!
