Hi everyone, I'm excited :-D to be joining your community and could use some advice!!
My partner and I will be moving to Cleveland this summer (he'll be working downtown at CSU) so we're currently on the hunt for a place to live. After researching and visiting the various neighborhoods we've decided on renting in the Detroit Shoreway/ Ohio City area.
The good news - it seems like there are a number of places that meet our rental criteria: gas stove, spacious kitchen, allows cats, has *some* outdoor space, and is within walking/biking distance of a downtown area. The rents are higher than we're used to, but not unmanageable (it seems like we can expect to spend around 1K for a descent 2 bedroom).
The bad news - all the places we're seeing are available NOW, but we want to sign a lease for July (our current lease isn't up until early August). I'm concerned that all the places we're seeing will go quickly, and that if we wait too long there won't be many places left to choose from. The property manager we spoke with told us that there won't be anything available come July, but he had a vested interest in getting us to sign a lease early. :|
My Question - What can we expect in terms of availability in the next few months? Should we rush to sign a lease if we see a place we like, or will rentals continue to open up over coming months? Any advice you can offer regarding what we should know/consider about renting in this area is much appreciated!! Thanks, Cleveland Community! <3
