  1. I hope they extend both Father Frescati and Battery Park Blvd to W. 70th st. 73rd could really use a couple stop signs right around there to control traffic coming off of the shoreway.
  2. ^ What is it supposed to look like when it's completed?

Even more interestingly, the FOP almost entirely endorsed Democrats for the statewide races this year: Cordray for governor, Brown for Senator, Dettelbach for AG, Space for Auditor, Richardson for Treasurer, and Stewart and Donnelly for Supreme Court. The only Republican they endorsed was LaRose for Secretary of State, which kinda makes me wonder what exactly they saw in Kathleen Clyde that differentiated her so much from the rest of the Democrats. Not that I really care that much either way. The FOP is not an organization I would take political advice from. Still I thought this was interesting.
  4. The original design was perfectly fine. Frank Jackson really screwed this thing up.
  5. I don't really understand what a "chain apartment building" is or why it exists, but nevertheless I'm happy to see more progress in the Flats!
  6. It may be ugly on the outside, but you should go inside. It is a visual cultural experience. How do we preserve important cultural assets while developing - i.e., not "gentrify". Maintaining strong, existing businesses important, but it sits on an extremely important piece of land that has strong development potential. Do we integrate their business into a new structure, and would they be willing to do so or potentially pay high rents? Keep their building and develop around it? Will the owners sell out when the time comes and impact would that have? Questions that I ask as a very fresh urban planner. I would hope that future developments along this strip of W. 25th will be able to make room for Kan Zaman to stay in the neighborhood. It's a unique place with a loyal ethnic customer base, and I'd be pretty sad to see it replaced with a "hip" (white) place similar to Townhall. Since Kan Zaman owns the land, perhaps a developer could reach a deal with them that would give them a good deal on rent in a new space in exchange for buying the current Kan Zaman property for future development.
  7. ^ That rendering also shows a more interesting new facade for the 1101 building (furthest to the right), as well as what appears to be the addition of two new stories on top of it.
  8. Anyone hear any word about the concept that's supposed to be replacing Flipside (it's a 70s-themed restaurant/bar)? Originally they said it would open in the spring but I haven't heard anything since then.

So far this is the first time the Democrats didn’t self destruct since 2006, and they won that one. Mary Taylor would have won, I’m pretty sure. I have doubts about DeWine, I may not vote for him myself. They never should have turned over the state party to Cult45 after their hero got trounced in the primary. You really think Mary Taylor would've been the stronger candidate against Cordray? I disagree. I think she alienated a lot of the more moderate-thinking people whose votes are needed to win in Ohio
  10. I sure hope some kind of finish will be applied over those panels. They look so cheap and unfinished.
  11. ^ That's more like what I expected from this district. Delaware County may be getting more purple and Franklin keeps getting more and more blue, but the inclusion of Licking and Morrow counties keeps that district in pretty solid red territory. Democrats would probably be polling a bit better if someone like John Russell (outsider, farmer) got the nomination instead.
  12. ^ I've had similar thoughts about the potential for redeveloment around the West Park station. I love the idea and also that those renderings show a continuation of the street grid with extensions of Bartter Ave and W 145th St.
  13. Well, supposedly we're going to start getting a [bigger] piece of that... I must be out of the loop. What are you referring to?
  14. With all these sweet deals the city keeps handing to Geis, could they at least move their headquarters into Cleveland?
  15. ^ That's awesome. Does anyone know what kinda material they're using for the new facade of the 1101 Building?
  16. Does anyone know if anything is planned for the last remaining retail spot in the new building next to Lucky's? When the project first started I had heard that a sushi place would go there, but there's been no sign of anything going in that space.
  17. Generally as a rule, I don't like to sign up for any political email lists because the emails are almost always annoying and incessant. This, however, is particularly bizarre. Kathleen Clyde is actually quite qualified for the job, and it seems like something she's had her eyes on for a few years, so I don't know how she allowed her campaign to look this bad. Hopefully they can get it together before the election. I agree with the above that ODP has been having a rough time, but I actually think there have been signs of improvement lately. This year's slate of candidates is worlds better than what we were offered in 2014. For governor, the Cordray/Sutton ticket is very solid, which is a big breath of fresh air after the FitzGerald disaster. For AG, Dettelbach is a strong campaigner and fundraiser who I think genuinely has a chance at winning. For SoS, Kathleen Clyde is good on paper (and definitely better than Nina Turner) so I hope she gets her s**t together. I'm also really impressed with Zach Space and I think he has a solid chance at beating Keith Faber for Auditor. Honestly, I think every Democratic candidate across the board is stronger than what we were offered 4 years ago (except maybe Rob Richardson, because Connie Pillich was the standout Democrat in 2014).
  18. It's a great location for a childcare center, but boy is that design terrible.
  19. ^ Wow that is.... extremely close for that district. Republicans usually win there by rather large margins.

This is very surprising to me, to be honest. I feel like almost every poll I've seen has shown DeWine ahead. I'm a bit more (cautiously) optimistic about Cordray's chances now. He was clearly the right choice for the primary, and is a good fit for Ohio. I highly doubt that Kucinich would be polling ahead of DeWine if he won.
  21. My personal proposal for Amazon was actually pretty similar to this. The old post office could be where the initial buildout starts, and then the former phase 2 casino site (the whole area just south of W Huron) would be available for new build. A smart design could've even been built over Canal Rd and created new connections with the riverfront. Hell, you could even throw in the Landmark Towers since Sherwin Williams is likely to move out of there at some point. This would've been one massive complex with direct connections to the major local transit hub of Cleveland, and also directly connected to a casino and a (soon-to-be) revamped shopping mall. There'd even be more room for expansion if you consider an expansion onto the Landmark Towers (corner of Huron & Ontario) and a new building on the grassy lawn across from the Q. I think something like that would've stood out. Other cities probably couldn't propose such a central location with such direct access to transit and other amenities because most other cities have much less open space in their downtowns.
  22. You sure about that? Melanie Leneghan was a total unknown until he threw his support behind her.
  23. This is such a strange feeling. Suddenly I like Knez?

I already provided a link to a very good and detailed article which explains why he's mostly a fraud. I hope you give it a read. I've voted for Kucinich in the past, but I never will again. https://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/the-king-of-spin/Content?oid=1503534
