Newport, KY: Ovation
Yes. I read a couple weeks ago where one of them would be coming down. Assuming it was for the condo portion. The third and final portion should be starting construction sometime soonish, then the construction of the two 8 floor apartment buildings. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see the tower portion between the condos and the apartments get built.

It is nice to see that we are getting the bulk of the money this year since I feel like previous years we’ve been overlooked.

https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2024/01/29/carew-tower-tmud-award-residential-conversion.html States Carew Tower was one of two in Cincinnati that received the tax credit. The other of course being the hotel. Sad to see what this does to the FC development.

Enquirer is saying Carew got 4.2 million but doesn’t mention any of the other projects. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2024/01/29/cincinnatis-convention-center-carew-tower-get-boost-from-ohio/72352413007/

When they are approved is it automatically the amount they requested or can they give them less? Assumed that the hotel would get it and glad Carew got it. Wonder what FCs plans are if they do not get anything?

Northern Kentucky: Random Development and News
I’m all for turning parking lots into buildings but I feel like the a nice little urban park with the Peace Bell in the middle would be much more beneficial and pleasing for this site. Having a dual brand hotel right next to this is honestly a slap in the face(bell) to the Peace Bell. Heck just move the bell over to Covington and put it a park in the IRS development.

https://www.druryhotels.com/locations/cincinnati-oh/drury-plaza-hotel-cincinnati-florence Was at the Florence Costco the other day and noticed a new building across 75 around the Bob Evans and Frisches. Doing some digging I found out it will be a new 7 floor Drury Hotel. It stands out pretty well.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Would love to see something similar to the new condo tower in Mini. Maybe not as tall but something in the 250-350ft range would blend in well with the surrounding high rises along Central Parkway and would be similar to the American Building.
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Not only does it blend well with surroundings buildings but also helps reactivate a part of Central Parkway that otherwise is a dead zone for pedestrians.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Is that for any part of a building facing vine or is it if the building has a Vine St. address? It’s such a small portion of the building facing Vine that I’d hope it wouldn’t be any concern.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
And yet those people are the same people that say we need more housing but only if it’s at max 4 floors. With this fronting Central Parkway and multiple buildings close to it that are as tall if not taller than this, I would hope they would be ok with it.

Wish it would have still been the original 12 floor development, but this looks really nice and it’s better than a parking lot and will prolly sit better with people knowing that the alley will stay and also be widened to allow fire and EMS through.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
The issue with Kroger I think per a friend who works there is that everyone in the office portion of the company are much older and it’s been very hard for them to recruit young talent. He’s only 30 and he’s the youngest by far in his department. I personally do not mind the building itself but I definitely think they need to redo the entrances to the building and have them integrate better with the street. Court Street has become much nicer since all the renovations but when you get to the Kroger part it’s cold and standoff ish.- Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info

Prolly seems unlikely but what would be the odds that they announce that the new convention center hotel will be a Hilton and when it opens the Carew one will close and be turned into apartments.- Cincinnati: Northside: Development and News
