  4. The Halle Building (Euclid Ave) -- started their inside demo work back in 2016 and is now doing a partial conversion to apartments that started in June 2017. The Cleveland Athletic Club (Euclid Ave) -- started their inside demo work back in 2015 and now they are doing the final conversion to apartments that started in Jan 2018. Union Trust Building (925 Euclid) -- Current deadbeat owner trying to find partner to move this project forward. Possible updates early summer..... Real estate developer Frank Sinito is close to snagging another big downtown deal, taking on the stalled $270 million renovation of the Union Trust Co. building at 925 Euclid Ave. If Sinito, CEO and owner of Cleveland-based Millennia Cos., closes on buying the building or taking a majority stake in the project with current owner Hudson Holdings of Delray Beach, Fla., it would be his fourth blockbuster deal downtown in two years. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180415/news/158241/sinito-continues-hunt-925-euclid-deal Cleveland Police HQ -- The city is still considering a handful of sites, including the home of cleveland.com at 1801 Superior Ave. Up to $55 million of the $64 million could be used to construct a new building. The price could be cheaper if the city can refit an existing building. A decision is expected within a month. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/04/cleveland_city_council_to_cons.html Cumberland Lakefront Phase 2 & 3 ...... www.gcpartnership.com/fileuploader/webfiles/Cleveland%20Harbor%20View%20Lakefront%20Development%20Presentation-GCP%2017.5.15.pdf

  8. Cudell vintage shop West of Venus ready for an out-of-this-world reopening The Cudell-based vintage shop recently reopened its doors after a five-month overhaul as part of Cuyahoga County’s Storefront Renovation program. The result? A newly painted interior, new doors, new windows, and—most exciting to Radocaj—a new sign. Currently, the store carries vintage furniture, clothing, and other various items that Radocaj and Mattis score from estate sales or customers looking to downsize. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/street-level/westofvenus.aspxi https://facebook.com/westofvenus/ 10024 Lorain Ave

Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Institute receives $10 million pledge Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Institute has received a pledge of $10 million in support from the Boykins, a family with ties to Cleveland. "The Boykin family's gift will support a number of services that help patients throughout their cancer journey," said Brian J. Bolwell, chair of the Taussig Cancer Institute, in a prepared statement. "In addition to outstanding clinical care, we must support our patients as they navigate through what can be a daunting diagnosis. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180418/news/158661/cleveland-clinics-taussig-cancer-institute-receives-10-million-pledge
  10. Airport officials outline improvements Short term, Cleveland airports director Robert Kennedy told transportation committee members, the growth in passenger traffic is straining the airport's roadways, parking lots and other facilities. Changes to those facilities likely would require moving existing underground utilities disturbed by above-ground changes. The airport handled 8.4 million passengers in 2016 and 9.1 million in 2017. Kennedy said he is forecasting 9.6 million in 2018. "Our facilities will not take that," he told the committee. "That creates a challenge for us." Long term, Kennedy said he wants to spend between $4 million and $4.5 million on a new master plan to see how to better use space at the land-locked, 2,000-acre airfield. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180418/news/158671/airport-officials-outline-improvements http://www.clevelandairport.com
  11. It's nice how it worked out better for Midtown/Health Tech Corridor because now they have both a co-working space in Tech Hive with a built in coffee shop and DEALERS TIRE has a 20 year below market lease at the Victory Building, even thru they lost out on the Beauty Shoppe co-working project that was to open at the Victory Building a couple of years ago. Several amenities that the Tech Hive will offer to eager entrepreneurs who rent desks and or offices in the new co-working space includes: For $10 a day, startups can get a desk anywhere in the three story building, including access to a conference rooms, lounge areas, a wellness room with a shower and of course Wifi. And of course with DEALERS TIRE 20 year lease at the Victory Building that area is a real sweet spot for more development including the Tech Elevator, the new University Hospitals new outpatient health center for women and children and also the developer behind the MidTown Tech Park with his Link59. Not to mention the new Tru by Hilton a 114 room hotel being built next to the Victory Building. Tru is a recent addition to the Hilton family of hotels. Billed as youthful, hip and affordable. The hotels have smaller-than-average rooms and aim for nightly rates of $100 or less. http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/03/dealer_tire_revs_up_long-vacan.html http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2018/04/digitalcs_new_tech_hive_space.html http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/07/tru_by_hilton_hotel_could_open.html http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/02/coworking_craze_hits_cleveland.html ----------
  12. I wonder what happened to the loans and grants the Beauty Shoppe was scheduled to receive when they were slated to go into the Victory Building (at 70th and Euclid). http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/02/coworking_craze_hits_cleveland.html I assume that what happened to the loans and grants to the Beauty Shoppe that was scheduled to receive when they were first slated to go into the Victory Building instead as part of the Quarter project that maybe they was redirected to the NEW Techhive building that opened recently in Midtown. But in a way it worked better for Midtown/Health Tech Corridor because now they have both a co-working space in Tech Hive with coffee shop and DEALERS TIRE has a 20 year below market lease at the Victory Building! Several amenities that the Tech Hive will offer to eager entrepreneurs who rent desks and or offices in the new co-working space includes: For $10 a day, startups can get a desk anywhere in the three story building, including access to a conference rooms, lounge areas, a wellness room with a shower and of course Wifi. http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/03/dealer_tire_revs_up_long-vacan.html http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2018/04/digitalcs_new_tech_hive_space.html
  13. A little more detail on the Church & State mixed-use project in Ohio City: More recently, the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) agreed to direct the proceeds of a $43 million bond issue created by the federal Government National Mortgage Association as a first mortgage on the $56.9 million Church & State mixed-use project in Ohio City. "We are not your grandfather's building trades unions," said David Wondolowski, executive secretary of the CBCTC. "We have a robust capital strategies program that is very enticing for developers today." Wondolowski said that developers are now coming to the unions early in the development process because of the variety of financing options their investment funds offer. "We can do anything," he said. "We can do senior debt, subordinated debt, mezzanine loans, we can do equity, we can do construction loans, bridge loans — a whole variety of investment." http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180415/news/158196/building-trades-put-financial-clout-work
  14. Really? Do tell us more if you can....... I know that the guy who started Tony's Market at Clark Ave near McDonald's many years ago. has bought up a lot of the properties along Clark Ave including what's now the Save A Lot. Near West 25 St..... He owns most of the lots along Clark from the drivethur beverage store just west of Fulton to West 25 Street.
  15. I drove by the new DOLLAR GENERAL store under construction at Fulton and Walton, just north of Clark Avenue earlier today. It look like it's mostly completed at least with the brick walls. That former parking lot has been there since the 70's and has slowly been getting bigger over the years.......
  16. The idea is that they want more than just restaurants and brewpubs along the main streets of Ohio City. They want a diverse set of retail that will serve the people of the neighborhood, which is a diverse set of a cross section of todays society! They hope by setting standards just like Sharker Hts does that businesses and developers that want to do business here will respect the community. Just like we will respect and support them! A perfect example is GREAT LAKES BREWING of a business owner that took a chance on us waaay back when we was NOT a hot area like we are today. And that has reinvested and expanded their business as well as being a good corporate citizen! Good people like them know that the best way to grow a business is by hard honest work by reinvesting in their business and THEIR community! Of course as we all know there is a regular process and pattern to growing and expanding a upcoming neighborhood, that it takes a lot of time and money and hard work to attract and keep desirable businesses, residents, visitors, and key attractions that will over time will help to truly make a COMPLETE NEIGHBORHOOD! I'll get of my soapbox now......
  17. They got extension from the state last year and the deadline is June or July 2018 to start construction.
  18. That will be GREAT to have that empty lot filled with nice apt or condos and hopefully with more projects added along Scranton toward downtown over the next couple of years!
  19. Cleveland antiquers are living their Googie dream Margaret Daole and Dave Crider of Googie Style are hunters. Clawing their way through garage sales, flea markets and estate sales, they find treasures with which to fill their galleries, carefully curated with vintage and mid-century furniture; art and unusual décor; as well as Crider's handmade furniture. In November, Googie moved from a small Madison Avenue storefront in Lakewood to a 2,500-square-foot warehouse space on West 33rd Street in Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood on the city's West Side. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180317/news/155136/cleveland-antiquers-are-living-their-googie-dream8-11-2012 I grew up on the West side of Cleveland in the 60's & 70's and it's nice to see one of the older neighborhoods that's NOT a Hot Spot for development get some much needed TLC!
  20. Great project! When are you going to start work on the townhouses across from the Wagner Awning apartment buildings in Tremont?
  21. Developer plans to revive old bakery as apartments Efforts are underway to rejuvenate a one-time bakery building at 2707 Barber Ave. in Cleveland as 69 rental apartments. The sprawling, four-block long structure dates to 1900 when it was constructed for the J. Spang Baking Co., which was acquired by the former Laub Baking Co. in 1958, according to "The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History." The local history said Spang's roots go back to 1888 when founder Julius Spang opened a "small bake shop" using skills as a baker he learned in Germany before coming to the U.S. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180411/news/157951/developer-plans-revive-old-bakery-apartments This is at the northeast corner of the MetroWest CDC service area just north of I-90: http://www.ohiocity.org/sites/default/files/styles/full_width/public/images/featured_image/OHC%20Service%20Area%20Map%2003-25-14.jpg?itok=Toa1ebTJ
  22. There will be three phases with a total of 23 units. The first phase is located in the center of the development and when it's totally completed it will be a square of units with open area with a water feature in the middle. https://onemidtowncle.com/siteplan/
  23. Lies, Damn Lies and the 450 Acres of Prime Real Estate That is Burke Lakefront Airport... The question for Keane the night before was why the city of Cleveland keeps Burke Lakefront Airport open even as the number of flights it services has dropped off a cliff, declining more than 60 percent since 2000. It's a question many others are asking too. Why does the city need an airport on prime downtown, lakefront property when it's not used by many planes? https://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/lies-damn-lies-and-the-450-acres-of-prime-lakefront-real-estate-that-is-burke-lakefront-airport/Content?oid=16931820
  24. Interesting web site with pics and info for PHS Tower by Gilbane Building Company the contractor: Apartment tower’s positive impact on the cleveland theater district Situated on a one-acre site at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 17th Street, replacing the parking lot across from the Connor Palace, the tower will also have 528 parking spaces and 22,000 SF for resident amenities. The 597,000 SF project is largely composed of floor-to-ceiling glass, painted aluminum panels and exposed cast-in-place concrete, making a dynamic contribution to the Cleveland skyline. The actual design will include elements that match surrounding theaters. There will be overlapping planes forming a symbolic marquee, and a stage curtain design will be incorporated on the garage façade. https://www.gilbaneco.com/project/playhouse-square-apartments/
