Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Gotta have a developer before you can have a development.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Interesting. I'm in Boston for the week and heading downtown today. I'll see if we can walk to it. Taking the Hingham ferry to Rowes wharf. Gonna be a hot one though. Nantucket tomorrow. Love the history here and the colonial look of the area.

^ His heirs sure, Haslam, l doubt it.

Well if he wants a dome in BP his share will be around a billion so he'll need to sell an awful lot of drinks in his BP Browns vilage before he breaks even. I don't think he has the years in him. Even at those inflated drink prices in and around the dome that's STILL a lot of drinks to get back to zero.

Look, l'm fine with the millions spent on fan upgrades at Progressive field as well as the changes made to RMFH but we're talking millions vs. a couple billion. I don't know where the line is but l think we cross it somewhere between millions and billions. I certainly want to keep our teams (and keep them downtown as well) so l think a resonable compromise is a re-furbished stadium on the lakefront. And if Jimmy wants all those ancillary dollars he can make them with the construction of a Browns village. Everybody wins, we get a better facility, Haslam makes bucks off of the development around the stadium, government kicks in with a landbridge and a re-configured Shoreway and finally the city gets to benifit from all that new life and activity on the lakefront. Presto-chango. Cleveland welcomes the twentyfirst century.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
It took awhile but based on that pic it looks like it was worth it.

I don't think most fans are interested in this new "fan experience." Silly me. I thought the "fan expetience" was the actual game. I think this new defination is more about one owner keeping up with some other owners. In other words it's more about ego and less about the fans. And as long as cities keep footing the bill owners will keep demanding it.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
I remember it being on the Mall and the "buck a bone" price. It was a lot of fun. Great ribs, music, and my favorite... downtown.

The Future of America and Its Cities
As someone who was born in WV (but moved to Cleveland at the age of 3) and still has WV relatives scattered about l'm familiar with the state's beauty and l know the hillbilly culture. I think it's interesting that some are finding Appalachia a viable place to escape higher priced areas but when l read articles like this l just keep thinking "Why not Cleveland?" Some of us Cleveland cheerleaders are saying it's just a matter of time before there is new growth here due to climate change and high cost of living elsewhere but l'm still waiting. At this point the re-locating articles are about other areas, not Cleveland. I love it here. I want to see us participate in this new population movement but at this point it seems l'm still waiting for us to be (re)-discovered. And that's disappointing.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Thanks Ken. Wow. That property seems like a great spot for more housing but l have to admit before all of the recent development next door l wanted to see Great Lakes expand there. Now l don't know what to think. I guess that means the city wins either way no matter what gets built. It's a refreshing problem to have.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
From the old pics l've seen of Toledo it had a real nice downtown density with a great old midrise skyline. It's too bad the city has fallen on hard times.

But we could be. Speaking of which that big grassy area where the deer is wandering seems ripe for more residential development. Does anyone know who owns it and if there are some plans for it that l might have missed?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Yes. That is the exact view which is my reason for wanting it to disappear. Of course just as much as l don't like it at the same time that smokestack seems to be giving me the finger. Oh the irony.

Outnumbered l see. I'm like the 300 Spartans minus 299 of them.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
^ @Cleburger gets the kudos for the posting but l'm willing to ride anyones coatails if we can get some lights lol.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I'm all for the reno, minus the stack of course lol.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I know we have a ton of projects that need funding and money is always tight but man, those bridges are so striking with the colored lights. I've mentioned this before but in the grand scheme of things LED lighting is cheap and the bang is definitely worth it. If some organization wanted to fund lighting up the bridges it would probably pay for itself just by generating additional visitor spending in the community. I don't think any city in the country has the collection of bridges we have. Imagine them all lite up. Who wouldn't want to see that?

I love the smokestakes at the Powerhouse and Battery Park. I hate the one 2 blocks from PS. It's not the stack, it's the location for me.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
^ Agreed. I actually like the building too but not the smokestack. Nothing against them, just think a smokestack that prominent a couple blocks from PS sends the wrong message.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
^ lt always cracks me up when Republicans tout their business friendly policies while at the same they portray Dems as the anti-business party only to see that ACTUAL numbers tell a very different story. Also, Blue states tend to send more tax dollars to Washington while Red states usually recieve more federal aid than Blue states. And yet their leaders rail about the evils of welfare. Republicans do exel at one thing though. Propaganda. What a joke they are.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
^ How can all this stuff not work?? Who's in charge of the reno? It's one thing to get staff up to speed - that's always problematic in the service industry. But making sure new things work...that should be handled before any signoffs. What exactly is the Marriott managment doing then?

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I'm as biggest a sports fan as anyone. That being said, l'm really down on the sports palace race by competing egos...l mean owners. Not to mention the spoiled deep pocketed fans leaving the majority of us in the position of having to pay through the nose for what l contend is a huge waste of community resources. Problem is, that's pretty much the only game in town. If you want to call yourself major league you have to pay to play. I hate what its become. The only way out l think is having enough of a critical mass of cities collectively say "No!" We're not there yet but l can only hope it's somewhere in the not too distant future. Meanwhile its hold your nose and "Play ball!"

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I think you could put all of the proposed Berea project, plus whatever Browns Town Jimmy wants in BP and still have room for more housing etc. on the Burke site. It's a pretty huge footprint.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
^ l fail to see the confusion. Browns re-build the stadium on the current site and also move all of the Berea facilities to the closed Burke airport. Sure l'm just speculating here and it's not going to happen but h*ll, half of the stuff we talk about here is not going to happen.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
You know what would be interesting? The Browns staying on the lakefront AND moving all of the Berea facilities to Burke. I know, even if all parties were on board the timing doesn't align but still, imagine the Browns facilities anchoring a brand new lakefront neighborhood on the Burke site. This is the kind of stuff an amatuer urban planner like myself dreams of lol.
