  1. I think it looks more like an early 20th century forge or factory machine shop. You could say it's an ode to our manufacturing history but...whatever. This whole thing is one massive disappointment from the design to the location. Instead of a huge positive shot in the arm for sports/lakefront development we get diluted energy in the form of sprawl. Nice job all in favor.
  2. If l'm not mistaken potential spelled backwards is cleveland.
  3. Yikes. I guess l'm too naive. It didn't occur to me that retribution by some in city government would be a thing.
  4. Don't want to lose this building. The new skin is a nice upgrade, well except for the eastern and northern tops which were purposely left off. Still don't get that but nevermind. Now we face a greater problem which is can it be converted to a new use? I was perfectly happy to keep it as a federal building but with the Trump administration all bets are off.
  5. Sure, and l still don't trust the Legislature. The proposal doesn't appear to have the votes...until, miraculously it does. Voters may have the numbers but somehow the leadership either waters it down or simply passes it. Jimmy has greased some wheels in Columbus. I still think we're getting a dome in BP.
  6. ^ Why not? It's creative and certainly better than what we have now and it wouldn't be all that expensive, would it?
  7. If cruiser tourism is going to be a thing we really need a better location for those debarking. Being invited onto the Flats boardwalk and restaurants beats a tour bus. I know we just spent money upgrading the custom's facility at the port but l think that was misguided. It might have cost more but l think a better welcoming would have been worth it.
  8. Great! The easiest way to stop Trump is to stop the US consumer. Nothing says America more than people spending money on (more) useless sh*t. Woe to the person getting in their way.
  9. Even when l tap most recent it doesn't set. I've played with everything regarding newest vs. oldest submission. Can you explain how to do it?
  10. Stupid me didn't know theme meant light or dark. I'm still working on getting the most recent vs. oldest. Thanks. Hate updates.
  11. I am having so much trouble with the new update. Background is black. Print/layout is tiny. All the topics start with the oldest even when l sort by newest. Please help. Thanks.
  12. ^ Love the concept. And the name but it may be a little wordy. I propose we use CVNP/OECNHA/WRHSVCTC!! instead. I just threw in the !! for emphasis but if they're too much we could leave them out. Whatever works.
  13. I wonder how long we'll have to wait until something is done with the old steam plant? Either it's torn down or repurposed. Anyone know who owns it?
  14. I think we're about 10 years from a waterfront taxi that hits spots up and down the river. In 5 years the Irishtown Bend park will be finished and the plantings will be starting to grow enough to actually look parklike. The Scranton peninsula apartments will be full and l think as this development matures it will necessarily attract more investment including housing and bars/restaurant's. Add Bedrock's plan and sooner or later there will be a waterfront taxi with stops up and down the river. If we're lucky we could have some version of the San Antonio Riverwalk. Imagine the tourist draw that could be.
  15. I wonder if the city would consider turning itself over to the Metroparks? They seem to have the best combination of ideas, will and results.
  16. Wow! That's incredible. I had no idea something like that was even on the table. So those plans stay on the shelf and join all the others in the pantheon of "No shortage of great Cleveland plans, just a shortage of money and will." Unfortunate.
  17. Such a classy structure from my favorite era in building.
  18. I don't know if it's different for commercial buildings rather than housing but when l first started traveling in the the third world (and even in the poorer countries of Europe) l also noticed many structures were started but then appeared to be abdandoned. When l asked why l was told it was because of the difficulty in getting loans to build. Unlike America where you start with the financing and then the construction in much of the world the financing is less than adequate. So the land owner gathers a little money, starts construction and when the money runs out he stops, saves a little more, constructs a little more and so on. Sometimes it takes years to complete the home and sometimes it's never finished. That's what l was told anyway.
  19. Ok, as long as we're speculating about the Neuro building l would have preferred to see it built somewhere near the corner of Carnegie and the Opportunity Corridor. Even with its size it kinda gets lost where it is. I think it would have made for a dramatic sight in a more visable location.
  20. Ordinarily l would be gnashing my teeth over the usual red tape but in this case l'm conflicted because l think there is a large disconnect between this important site and the very watered down design of the building. I find myself rooting for government intransigence to keep the build from happening. I know most on this forum would rather have something there now as opposed to the current nothing but l'd rather have nothing now in the hope that someday a developer will build something closer to the original idea rather than this generic product.
  21. I guess l haven't been paying enough attention to what is going on right in my Lakewood back yard. Even though l live here my focus is on Cleveland and then mostly downtown and UC. At any rate l had no idea there is a very successful church growing here. Maybe it's my fault but when l think of a growing church my thoughts go right to those mega-churches of which all of my Texas family are members. When l visit them l go to church services just to be nice. They're always trying to sell me but l'm not buying. They're Trumpers too but we don't talk about that. Anyway, back to this church in Lakewood. Good luck to them and like l said upstream... a church in place IS better than an empty building.
  22. ^ Hundreds? I don't know about that. Maybe, but l suspect that we're more likely to see it back on the market down the road than we are to see a thriving church in that building. I'll take the hundreds of jobs and a hq. over a church any day but that's probably because l'm agnostic and my bias is showing. Then again, a church is still much better than an empty building. But yeah Lakewood, you dropped the ball again and as a Lakewood home owner l'm not too happy about that.
  23. If SA is ghosting maybe it's because they actually are ghosts, as in ancient.
  24. I don't know how much more brick adds to the cost instead of wood but for me stylish brick looks much better than stylish wood. To me brick housing is what sets a neighnorhood apart from wood. Brick looks timeless, wood looks temporary.
