Respect to any developer who restores an old building rather than tearing it down in favor of a new build.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
SHW has turned out even better than the pics we saw before construction. And just imagine when lighting is added! It's not just a great looking tower but it's bright glassy facade is such a welcome addition to our mostly beige buildings. It, along with the Hilton is painting Cleveland in a new and very modern light. Cleveland... new AND old school.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Well Ken l did mention SHW as a bright light in the office market. I forgot about Rocket Mortgage. Courthouse is covered in "government." Cliffs is the wildcard imo although first their needs to be the US Steel purchase followed by the decision to absorb existing but vacant office space or the best case - build new and build tall. That's a lot of issues that need to happen but wouldn't it be grand if that were to happen? To me a far more difficult situation is how to get new and existing business to take up space in existing downtown buildings. In the old days the business climate fostered that activity. Today - not so much. New residential IS great but l would like to see the city focus on brainstorming to come up with methods to encourage older downtown office space absorption. I of course realize doing so flys in the face of current trends and may simply not be possible. Not too mention all the other probably more urgent issues facing the city and region today. Still, there has to be a way to get new and existing smaller companies to fill some of that old class B and C space. It can't all be obsolete can it?

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
If l'm reading correctly Oswald is going from 80,000 to 100,000 sq. ft. with an option to need even more in the future. That's the best news - that office expansion is in the offing and not office contraction. In the grand scheme of things Cleveland has a quite small downtown office scene, at least compared to the New York's and Chicago's of the US. If it's difficult for us to find companies to fill downtown office space imagine what the larger cities are dealing with. Thank God SHW is in an expensive mode. With all the empty space nationwide the need for new office buildings going forward should be at a turtle's pace. If it wasn't for government offices and residential l'm afraid we wouldn't be seeing much new construction at all. Not great news for us city lovers.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Oh hell. I give up. Reasons why we can't do something always beats out why we can. Feel bad trumps feel good in today's America.

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
^ This is a great idea. Scheduled activities to enliven downtown during the long dark winter nights. I'm a believer in extending the Christmas lights season and just calling them Winter lights. They are already up. Leave them up for another 6 weeks or so. Who doesn't like colorful lights in this climate?

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Let's see now...those of us who want as many trees everywhere in the city as we can get are what? 25-30% of the population? And we don't just need trees planted but trees taken care of after that as you @mrnycsuggested. I daresay most every street would benefit with more trees, including Euclid. So because we're in the minority and are unlikely to get anything close to what we want, you won't catch me saying we don't need trees on Euclid.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
I'm so totally demoralized by ignorant masses on one level and lobbyists paid for by the fossil fuel industry and their paid off politicians. Following the news about HB6 and the recent (took long enough) charges against the old head of PUCO Randanzo and the law that was so wrongly installed is still in place. Ohio is so corrupt. These groups are holding us back. There's a reason we have fallen and continue to fall in national rankings.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
It is amazing what one new tower can do to knit together the entire skyline.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
Not surprising but disappointing nevertheless. It could have been an important project bridging an old industrial city/state with a modern and green energy source. But no, instead all we got was pushback from entrenched interests who are determined to keep us firmly planted in the 20th century. Success!

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
So it is good news and somewhat surprising the we beat out Austin for a physical presence but speaking as an old guy l absolutely hate WFH. Yes, l understand that we are never going back to the old way of doing business but that doesn't mean l have to like it. Bring back downtown office space. Bring back retail. And the two hour twoln other martini lunch. He'll, while we're at it bring back suits and dresses. I say all this as a guy who loves being retired, doesn't have to go into any office, and dresses ascasually as l can get away with. In other words, do as l say, not as l do.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yeah @coneflowerbeing away that decade and coming back gives you a perspective that those of us who were here the whole time sometimes forget. There HAS been a lot of development in the city. People like me who are never satisfied need to remember we have come along way.from the decades of disinvestment.

Well guys...thanks for taking my comment seriously but l was being facieous. Oh I would like nothing better than somehow, someway getting Progressive to move downtown but unfortunately in no way do l expect them to do that.

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
The thing l don't understand is why people think there are a ton of cars on Superior east of E.9th because there's not all that many. And if anyone using the midway wanted to access a building on the route all they have to do is use a crosswalk. Let's make lemonade out of a lemon. We already have this extra wide street with probably a third of the traffic using it that it was designed for. We construct an attractive (large trees and suitable landscaping) medium and to top it off, large trees on the sidewalks as well. If done right the midway becomes a draw which encourages businesses and people to move there. If all that takes place then we can worry about the increased traffic. Build it first - worry about popularity later.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
What a great urban neighborhood - and getting stronger project by project. Once interest rates come back down in the next economic cycle l wouldn't be surprised to see high end for sale units parked in new cul-de-sacs in that little valley.

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
I don't know why we're making this so complicated. Superior is a very wide street for the amount of traffic on it. The part east of E. 9th is pretty quiet. It does not need a dedicated bus lane. If the original idea was to open it to bikes/walking then do it right. Create something like @Ethan said which is a TREE lined, landscaped path. Every city that has done this correctly has created a functional AND beautiful path. Come on now Cleveland, it's there for the making. We have a super wide street with little traffic. Don't overthink it.
