Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I know. It always pisses me off when l see or read about the total lack of concern for trees. Especially mature trees. Every single neighborhood that catches my eye always has at least one component - mature trees.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Perspective indeed. I actually did find myself saying you can't compare Cleveland development with Phoenix (or LA as they only left LA last year for Phoenix and already hate the summer temps.) We did cover the usual Cle hotspots but not Lakewood, Glenville or Buckeye. They were quite surprised by the CH neighborhood just above Cedar Fairmount. Loved the trees and old mansions. It was a successful tour as they did indicate they will be buying something. They had wanted to live downtown but were put off by the lack of for sale properties.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Interesting anecdotal story Ken but l'm not sure what you mean by blown away by the amount of development here. We CAN observe all the construction underway on the near west side and a few things on the east side. Readers of this site are aware of the huge amount of pending development but we're still waiting on the bulk of it. I also spent a day showing a Phoenix couple around the city. They are looking to buy a summer home to escape the Arizona heat. I found myself saying "This is coming here and that is planned there." etc. But there wasn't all that much actually under construction at the moment. And compared to Phoenix they thought things were pretty quiet development wise. Oddly enough while l was excited to show the male all the new residential construction he hated the new designs while raving about the old.

See, we can still build nice looking bridges in Cleveland, North Coast harbor notwithstanding.

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
Either they DO know how to build skyscrapers in Chicago or the foundation is only 2 inches thick lol. At any rate it's going up super fast. Not used to that in these parts.

Who doesn't prefer free parking? Unfortunately for all us urbanophiles free parking is usually not one of the charms of downtown. I thought any business contemplating a move there would be aware of that from the jump.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Scranton peninsula has the potential to be one of the most desirable neighborhoods due to its geography. But what is under that surface soil? Has it been cleaned enough for human habitation?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
As usual Ken, thank you for the anxiously awaited update. With all the info included the last bit about phone calls not being returned by Scranton Averell is disturbing. We could have had it all. Damn it!

That's ok. I'll take your place in line. You're gonna miss out on a spectacular view lol.

"Mr. Stark, there's a Mr. Goncalves on line one for you." "Ah yes, thank you. I've been expecting his call."

As Ed McMahon used to say "You are correct sir!"

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Excellent. From the pics l thought any outdoor space was going to be on E. 9th. Maybe we get the best of both worlds and another place opens in the old Galleria spot. Other than the not so occasional headwinds from the lake it's not a bad location.

Ridiculous IS the word for it.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Man I'm tired of losing people. We have all these great neighborhood, amenities, attractions. We really really need to work on adult jobs that pay real money. I'm looking at you "leadership."

If the winking lizard is moving to the building it would be nice if they could incorporate that little pocket park as a patio. Just a thought.

Well crap.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I'm not an expert on the process but it seems to me the exterior would be designed first then once you know the basic shape of the building the interior would be fleshed out. If that's the case then SHW already has the finished exterior. Hopefully we'll ALL be getting a look soon.

God that's clunky. The designer should be embarrassed. Or maybe he's just laughing at the idiot's who signed off on that monstrosity.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Of all the blocks SHW controls the one on Public Square is the most visible and most important. Why they chose to build their headquarters on a secondary lot and use the primary lot for a second rate/low impact structure is beyond me. SHW is a well regarded Fortune 500 company. I am sure they made this decision after careful analysis so they must have their reasons. What those are unfortunately we may never know. I just hope the decision wasn't the result of a few people in control who made it based on a whim or a knee jerk response. Any student of history knows that many times very important decisions were made with less than careful thought. We can only hope that is not the case here. What those determinations were l cannot imagine because the end result makes no sense to me.

Just another reason to make Tower City the site for a multimodal transportation center.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I know some of the bridges were lit up and they did look great for a very short while. If l remember correctly more were to come including more extensive lighting of the Main Avenue bridge. The problem was the technology was old, costly and for some reason whoever championed the original idea moved on to other things and one by one lit bridges became became an afterthought or went dark. Fast forward to today and we have a much better chance to pull this off because of advances in lighting. The only thing lacking is, as usual, leadership. Right now we are coming out of a pandemic. There are also numerous projects on the front burner (Justice Center, Landbridge, Amtrak etc.) that demand attention so l get that something like lighting the Flats bridges is simply not a priority. But the thing is lighting those bridges is relatively quick and inexpensive at least compared to the megaprojects we are pursuing. Doing so would provide a great return on equity almost immediately. We could easily do it if we wanted to. Just need a lighting champion. I nominate Kerry McCormack.

Outstanding! I'm a big believer in lighting to enhance the mood or feel of an environment. When you see a photo of Asian cities with their abundance of lighting your pulse quicken's. When you visit Times Square the lighting seems almost alive and adds to the excitement. Everyone likes Christmas lights and in winter northern cities need all the light and color they can get. And just imagine if we really did light up our bridges like we planned in the 80's. What a UNIQUE signature for Cleveland and with the advances in LED lighting it is much cheaper now. Tourists would come from far and wide to see the lights adding dollars to our economy. Nela Park is right here. Let's take advantage of all these things (LED lighting, bridges, Nela Park) to brighten up this old town.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
How quickly Intro leases commercial space should be a real measure on how we are coming out of the pandemic. If a dynamite place like that can't fill up quickly then we are in trouble. I'm betting on pretty fast leasing but what do l know?

My turn. Where exactly is the MGK coffee place?
