Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
It is indeed set up for the groundbreaking: (I just want to add, setting up a wooden box with dirt on top of gravel inside of a tent has to be one of the most ridiculous groundbreakings I've seen)

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
.justin replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom the article: "Johnson said the pictures appeared to be from the worksite, but added that there was "no truth" to the reports in the Tweet by a local blogger that the tower was sinking or that the university was bringing in German engineers. The additional third-party engineer is from Chicago, he said."

.justin replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe building at 1795 S High was sold earlier this year. Here's the listing with some photos of the interior: http://nicoleharrison.com/listings/1795-High_Street_Columbus_OH-43207 Sounds like they had begun to build out creative space in the lower level before listing it.

Dublin: Developments and News
.justin replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat M/I Homes development (Darby Station) actually is in Plain City. That development will have 500+ homes, and I heard something like 1,700 more homes are in the works within Plain City.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Worth noting that Kaufman has already been buying land from Nationwide for Gravity. Part of the land where Gravity 2 sits was previously owned by Nationwide. Parts of Gravity 3 / Greenhouse were also owned by Nationwide previously.

.justin replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYes Marconi will be two-way between Broad and Spring Street. The Hickory/Marconi bend will still be one-way southbound, though they are bumping out the curb in a few places to narrow it (and make the intersection of Hickory/Front a more "normal" intersection).

.justin replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDon't get too used to it...the Front Street bridge closes on October 28 to be rebuilt. The new bridge is apparently not expected to open until 2025.

Columbus: Westland Developments and News
.justin replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just looked this up -- the zoning allows for a hotel of up to 375 ft in height. The hotel structure is the only part of the complex allowed to exceed 60 ft in height.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
The new hotel tower apparently isn't ready... they bumped hundreds of guests to other downtown hotels for this conference (and are apparently paying for their stays in full). I was talking to someone earlier that is going to this conference and was moved to another hotel.

I thought the same exact thing when I passed by there the other day. Anyway, the crown was lit last night:

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
I'm glad they mentioned the retail space will still be there ... it wasn't clear if that would still be the case after they announced BBI would be buying the building.

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
.justin replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe new Broad Street bridge (under construction now) will have planters and trees with decorative panels similar to the Spring Street bridge: The Main and Town St bridges will also have planters and decorative panels (though I'm not sure if they'll have trees or only smaller plantings). The Oak St bridge will be similar to the Grant Ave bridge, with decorative fencing but no other enhancements. The projects that build the Main, Town, and Oak St bridges do not currently have funding for construction.

Yes, there will be lighting. It looks like the fins that go up at the very top will be lit, along with the signage. Here's what it looked like Sunday night (I almost forgot I had taken this photo)...

Central Ohio Metro Parks / Columbus Recreation & Parks
Note, the Dispatch article is about the 2022 Capital Improvement Budget. This is using bond money that has already been approved. The bond request that was just put on the November ballot does not have specific projects identified yet, just spending for overall categories. What that money gets spent on will be determined by future capital improvement planning. From the article:

Columbus: West Scioto Area Developments and News
The full release from the state said this about it: "Operated as an auto salvage and stage facility since the late 1970s, this 50-acre property once housed a landfill that received municipal, construction, and industrial wastes. The four remaining buildings on the site will be demolished as part of the cleanup project, and the former landfill will be cleared, graded, and capped to prevent further contamination. After remediation, the property will be redeveloped as the WestBend development, a mixed-use project with 750 multifamily units with affordable housing options and a 12-acre public park." Based on that, my guess is the Buckeye Auto Parts property. There are four buildings on the site, it's an auto salvage facility, and it's a former quarry so being a former landfill makes sense. These parcels total around 50 acres and are all owned by Paine-McKinley Avenue LLC or Paine-McKinley Properties: And the lake is around 12 acres, which would explain the 12 acre park:

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
.justin replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionBased on the plans submitted to the city, all three will have drive thrus. It looks like this all fits within the current zoning for the site, so there's probably not much the city can do. They can't disallow a development that complies with the zoning code, so until City Council begins changing the zoning code, this type of development can continue to be built here.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
.justin replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionBecause being forced to merge into traffic while on a bike sucks. If the city is going to put in a bike lane, it shouldn't have random gaps requiring you to merge with through traffic that may or may not let you in.

Demolitions of these buildings were not approved last month. It was only up for conceptual review. I don't think it's on the agenda for this month's meeting. https://columbusunderground.com/two-arena-district-bars-closing-next-month-sp1/

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
.justin replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionActually it looks like the Schottensteins do own that last parcel on the Millennial Tower block... the auditor has its owner listed as The Oar House Corporation, which, when originally established in 1986, appointed William Schottenstein as its statutory agent. He also signed a document filed with the secretary of state in 2009 changing the domestic agent to the King Agent Corporation. The auditor also lists the owner address as 21 E State St, which I believe used to be where the Arshot offices were.
