  1. Gravity (and the Peninsula buildings) from the Lowdot:
  2. As seen from the upper east concourse at the Lowdot.
  3. The document you posted says the neighborhood data is from City-Data.com. Looking at the Downtown Columbus neighborhood page there, this seems to be the area considered "Downtown" by City-Data.com: Obviously, that includes a large area that is not part of downtown. Downtown Columbus is 2.45 square miles as I posted earlier.
  4. Downtown Columbus is around 2.45 square miles: Limits are based on the map used in the zoning code that establishes the Downtown District:
  5. It looks like they received final zoning clearance a few weeks ago. Based on the approved plans, it is the full build patio.
  6. I’m not sure what the people suing the city over Little Turtle expect at this point. The city was given the go-ahead by the judge to move forward with construction, and City Council voted to approve the construction contract this past week as a result. It’s getting built, whether they like it or not.
  7. That’s actually just a common method for incorporating the historic facade into a new building- carefully deconstructing and documenting the existing facade so that it can be put back up on the new building. The Hampton Inn across from the convention center was built in a similar fashion.
  8. The entire Municipal power plant property is being developed by Connect. NRI owns the Jaeger Machine Co. building on the other side of the power substation.
  9. From the West Bank trail...
  10. The Peninsula continues to rise ... crazy how the entire area used to be parking lots.
  11. COTA was supposed to purchase 6 articulated buses 10+ years ago…not sure what ever happened to that plan. https://news.wosu.org/news/2009-02-10/cota-to-try-out-ultra-long-buses
  12. The city has made changes to their recommended alternative for the bike lanes on Indianola Avenue... In short, all parking on the east side of the street will be removed to allow continuous bike lanes throughout the corridor, including in the commercial section north of Weber Rd. This also means the landscaped median (pictured in the post above) will be removed. The city made these changes based on feedback that the bike lanes need to be continuous & after doing another study of current usage of the on-street parking. Full conceptual drawings are on the city's website here. There's also more information about the changes on the project page.
  13. Yep, the park area and boat launch are pretty much done:
  14. I also saw UPS delivering a couple of packages there a week or so ago.
  15. They're actually shifting the entire entrance to the south, looks like it will still be three lanes when it's done.
  16. The developer has put some higher quality renderings of this development on their website. The view from Frebis Ave: The view from Moler St: And a view down between the two townhome buildings:
  17. From the Dispatch article on this announcement... "The Downtown Development Corp.. which is overseeing the development, said in a news release a $21 million tax break from the state's new Transformational Mixed-Use Development Program is 'key to moving this project forward.'"
  18. I have noticed that they installed a temporary garage door (it's literally a standard garage door that you would install at a house with a plywood surround to fill the opening) and a few vehicles have been parked in the garage overnight. That could just be overflow parking from their other buildings though.
  19. There are also going to be townhomes accessible from the street facing 4th right across the street as part of Thrive's new development. Not really an odd choice, there are houses fronting the street all along 4th Street. https://www.columbusunderground.com/renderings-for-4th-and-5th-development-revealed-bw1/
  20. The Dispatch article I linked says the plan is to close the old one on December 3 and open the new one on the same day.
  21. The new dog park will feature artificial turf (the current one has a tendency to be a mud pit, especially at the entrance) in addition to grass. I think it'll actually be a bit smaller than the current one. ODOT will be using the location where the current one is to stage equipment and materials for the next phase of I-70/I-71 construction. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2021/08/20/new-artificial-turf-dog-park-coming-scioto-audubon-metro-park/8177105002/
  22. I got a picture of this earlier today. The lighting definitely is new (I certainly do not remember it being this bright before)...however I'm not sure if there just wasn't any lighting here before, or if there used to be older high pressure sodium style lighting that has been replaced by white LEDs.
  23. From this past Saturday:
  24. Worth pointing out that it used to be parking lot...pretty much the entire RiverSouth area used to be parking lots. (also I will forever hate Crawford Hoying for downsizing that building, it looks ridiculous)
