Now if we could only get Medical Mutu... oh yeah that's right...

Meeting budget requirements by damaging aircraft? I think the worth of an aircraft is greater than fuel, best not to damage an operational aircraft. We do store remaining fuel in-between flight periods overnight, but not topped off full. There is a certain spec and little discrepancy for weight and balance per wing and inboard and outboard tanks & external tanks. We wouldn't refuel just to balance out an entire aircraft. We just end up transferring fuel between fuel tanks which is an easier process than re-fuel/de-fuel, and there is absolutely no reason to do so post-flight. Manuals tell us not to do so.

Air Force Crew Chief here, and you are 100% wrong about that. Planes are ONLY re-fueled pre-flight or whilst in air. They wouldn't top off tanks for storage, we have fuel centers for a reason. Planes STRICTLY do not store fuel. Sediment can build up and corrode reservoirs. Fraud Waste and Abuse prevents this kind of stuff.

So we're getting 4 towers instead of 2 then? SWEET!!

Was totally unaware of it being renamed to Dexter. Are we implying that it's already under construction, or was there too much backlash from the NIMBYs?

@KJP I guess it's good to forget, because there's a few more you forgot to add. Too much stuff not enough space, but you need to add Franklin Circle and FEB Phase III. I know FEB has been malingering for a while. Both of these projects have gone relatively silent.

@KJP does this mean the Market District mid-rise is already underway on W25th?

That's the Business building. You'd be surprised at how much green space CSU doesn't have. I agree they could do something more with it. I'm all for a little bit of assisted forestry. "Forest City" anyone?

@KJP Quit teasing us. When will we be expecting this "surprise?" Do I need to start a countdown timer? Why the hell not! https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20190730T00&p0=417&msg=KJP's+Special+Surprise&font=cursive

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I didn't like the proposal initially, but now that there are multiple proposals behind FES, I think it might be a gateway to new development. They're building the place up to show the potential. Now you don't have to walk all the way around to the mexican whiskey bar or whatever that place is. Also it may be a quicker walk from Harbor Verandas to FES. If we can make the entire lakefront a continuous walk from E 9th to edgewater, I would greatly appreciate that, although I would appreciate a better design.

I was at the tribe game last night and couldn't help but realize there was a glass box being built ontop of one side of tower city. Any curiosity of what this may be?

I'm actually really bummed, I thought I could make fun of alot of people. Me being the minority of the language course.

Ive been living in Texas for the past few months, I've been looking out for some deep south accents here, but they are surprisingly rarer than I have anticipated. There is a bit of a southern draw to quite a bit of people, but nothing like deep deep south. Nothing like Walker Texas Ranger or Clint Eastwood... And certainly nothing like Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome.

Now is not the time to be naive, Jacob's lot will be full of paint and paint thinners in the near future. I'm thinking 80 stories, or should we round that up to the closest cent?

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I'm just gonna go out on a leg and put all speculation out to shame here because there are plenty of uses for the building and the land itself, but mostly everything has its drawbacks. I can see the IX being a major cargo holding center for FedEx, UPS, and USPS if they choose to leave it up. Hopkins is more of a Cargo airport than a passenger airport anyways, we see alot of cargo in and out of the area, it would make sense if we had a larger facility for that sort of stuff. Holiday rushes aside. If they do plan on building more terminals they better acquire some more airlines, it's just not that busy of an airport like Newark, Detroit, or Chicago. However I applaud Hopkins on picking up Iceland. It would make sense for them to demolish the IX and shuttle people over for additional terminals for overflow. I like Vegas' McCarran Intl Airport because they've kept their airport small, and have different terminals on either side of the runways. They use a tram system underground to take you to your terminal, certainly unique. I can also see them acquiring to demolish, and start a new central point for the airport. Since both are relatively closer to one side or another, I could definitely see different airport terminals for East or West departure shortening aircraft taxi times. This doesn't mean the property from Ford would be acquired, but if so there would need to be some sort of resort, parking, or office space. But Hopkins is never short on parking. Especially on those pay by day lots around Snow Rd which get shuttled to the airport. So what could possibly entice people to come closer to the airport and bring extreme land value to the condemned land. Maybe a business park, more hotels, an outlet mall, an indoor water park, NASA Glenn use, maybe some hangars, an Air National Guard unit, or even a place to put a windmill. Now there is no way Hopkins would demolish the IX to pave another runway. Having been in the Air Force, it's easy to see why airports are situated the way they are. They use runways depending on weather, and fly into the headwind to help the aircraft take off. If there was a runway that ran perpendicular at Hopkins, planes landing and taking off North/South would be in for one hell of a ride. In our climate, wind and weather almost always wind run West to East if not SW to NE. Very rarely will you get anything from South to North. The only thing heading in that direction would be lake effect snow and the arctic wind stream dip. So if Hopkins builds another runway, it would almost never be used. There are plenty of things you can do with the IX. As a former aircraft hangar maybe it will return to its roots. It's certainly big enough for depot maintenance; for multiple planes at that fact.

Suburban Cleveland: Development and News
tastybunns replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI don't feel this conversation is really that appropriate for a suburban thread, I'm sure there are some infrastructure topics in either Urbanbar or City Discussion. Development topics aren't for debate, rather for informational purposes.

tastybunns replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGrand Opening today! Minards on Brookpark Road where the old Super K was. I heard the store was packed because they sent flyers with barcodes that were good for up to $2-$500. What a way to draw a crowd.
