  1. i made a picture a while back I believe July, which detailed what went where... it looked pretty nice... I could try to reconstruct the photo I made as it isnt on my computer anymore... It added PHS, 515, NuCleus, and at the time the photo didn't include both the Hilton or the Edge apartments, so I added those into the picture as well. The results were just very pleasing. It doesn't even look like we were a troubled city... Sadly the photo got deleted and never resurfaced because of the issues we had with the UO a few months ago...
  2. Steel sure is visible from 71, We have a head on view of it as well on the Innerbelt Bridge. It's going to cover up the majority of 5/3's building and some of the crown, but the color scheme will look great when it's finished!

I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer here, but the majority of attendance would probably be due to Stark and University of Akron. Summer attendance would be pretty bleak IMO. Although I wouldn't mind having a new FC in the Northeast. Akron just doesn't seem to be the right spot.

I would think they could stop it using magnetic breaks... like the ones they use on the Dragster and other various coasters... Magnetism aint friction although it creates alot of heat.
  5. Whenever I see renderings of people in them, I chuckle. 'Look how lively it looks'. Yeah well if you knew a thing or two about cleveland we only come out at night and in the summer. Also I don't really like the color palette. Its too 'vanilla' as vanilla was big in the 60's and 70's with oak... Really not too fond of it.
  6. Looks pretty accurate to me

Yes! It began with massive immigration. Back then Cleveland used to be an Irishtown. The Irishmen were known for their hard work, which is why our St. Patty's day parade is one of the best in the country. People from the East coast began moving over to freshwater cities where the Vowel Shift took place. I would imagine a mix of Gaelic, Slavic, German, Italian and English would have been massive contributors not only to Cleveland but as a Region around the Great Lakes in general. The end of the Industrial Revolution sent alot of people home, and home is where people could interact with family, neighbors, and friends.
  8. Honestly the more vertical development I see in NY is numbing me. It just shows that NY is basically becoming a fancy modernist Coruscant. I appreciate the design efforts that go into these things but if something's going to get lost in an already massive Super City Skyline, there's no general purpose. I mean yeah, make it look nice, but not over the top. Make use of your land and build something that maximizes your tenantship rather than a 1 in 5 artsy building. This is why I kind of wish Beaux Arts and Art Deco was still alive in architecture because those styles definitely make use of their space. If you're going to show off your style I think you should build somewhere else for a small or mid-sized city, because those skylines sure need it more than NY. I understand demand is mega high, but you probably shouldn't be minimizing space for style, rather you should fix the issue and build something that will contribute to lowering office demand. But I'm not here to tell you how to build or what to build, New York architecture is just getting a little crazy.
  9. Could be why the Hilton does so well during winter months...
  10. I wouldn't say that this is a fair demonstration of Jacob's lot. This is more of a 515 Euclid or PHST deal... Its actually one of the more renaissance buildings of UC breaking the major height barrier. IF there were more density and more height in UC, I would definitely say that 1UC was a waste of space. So in my retrospect, no way is this project comparable to Jacob's lot. There are still some HIGH hopes for that lot.
  11. Tim DeGeeter has actually done a nice job since he took office. The key to redevelopment is beginning on your infrastructure, and that's exactly what he's starting on. The roads were an atrocity with DiPiero, none of them were resurfaced or even talked about. With DeGeeter, atleast now we have a massive revamp of Pleasant Valley past York Road even on a collaboration effort with Middleburgh Heights. Ridge Road is currently seeing resurfacing for the next few years, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pleasant Valley from Broadview Road to State doesn't get a revamp. Parma is famous for its potholes, I think it's time we break that reputation.
  12. I should have changed that to recently renovated.
  13. Pitt Ohio Signs 15 Year Agreement With Parma, Groundbreaking To Begin On New Trucking Terminal On Former GM Parking Lots Groundbreaking is set to take place by April 2nd. The facility will utilize LEED-certified solar and wind which is projected to open late 2019. This project is expected to add 180 jobs, and an additional 60 after a couple years of operations. However a payroll tax rebate is to be put into place for Pitt Ohio's new Parma facility. Once they break $6.8 million in payroll, Pitt Ohio will receive a rebate that will give 'HALF' of their payroll tax back (~~$3.4 million). Pitt Ohio is also pleased to announce a possible partnership with PCSD regarding STEM education.
  14. I was doing some digging around to see if I could get any additional benefits from Ohio Universities as a transfer student from CSU. Well I couldn't really find any, but I did find this: This came off of Ohio State's Faculty page at: https://cityextension.osu.edu/resources-0/your-cityregion It shows statewide and trans-state CSA regions which I thought was quite interesting to include.
  15. There's so much more they could be doing like getting their Engineering programs accredited... Think about it, these past years they've tried to recruit me to join their "Unaccredited" engineering programs. As soon as I got the letters and took a visit and heard that, it was an immediate turnoff. However I do think there is a lack of connectivity between campus and dorm, The recently built Tri-Tower Rotunda which houses Leebrick Hall and others is actually quite far from their classes. Something funny I think would be to lease Golf Carts to students just to get to class just based on the walk needed.

Is it true that most people all around ohio end their sentences with propositions? I've been reading the only in Ohio threads, I don't know why, and I cant find anything different in any different blog. They're all the same. It actually makes me mad.
  17. They've basically erased history... and a river...
  18. Lol I opened that ESPN link and immediately saw the trash talk on how CSU should have never made it this far, and that the Horizon League tournament shouldn't be on a one game bid... Well obviously those teams CSU beat should have played better... Right? I mean they smashed NKU which was the favored team to make it all the way through. The amount of salty tweets I read from my hotel room was hilarious that night. I'm in the pep band so I did plenty of traveling and cheering this past weekend. I literally just got home, but It was quite the rollercoaster ride. What a pleasure it is to be a part of a Cinderella team.

Guys this is a Hyperloop thread...
  21. CSU hasn't been in this position for about 9 or 10 years now. Come cheer us on!
  22. Lol, ever hear of a dashcam? They're wonderful to have...

starting a new space tourism market is big money... Starting a 'somehwat' revolutionary transportation system is big money... Making fully autonomous cars and fully battery powering them is big freaking money... Selling paypal was big money... I don't see how you can't give this guy credit... He's putting faith in the public yet you dismiss him because he ''can't make money''. Faith in the public is how anyone makes money. Why do you think snowboarding became so popular? Back in the 70's and 80's skiiers thought they were a nuisance. It was basically a social inequality, yet companies started up and sold snowboards having 'faith' in the public. That's why companies like Burton and K2 are so big because they started out so early. We may have come a long way, but We aren't too far in the industry. Transportation will only get better. It reflects Moore's law which is the exponential increase in speed of advanced computational systems. I sure hate rush hour but i'd love to see something to somewhat relieve the pain of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. Once driverless cars are pretty much the standard there wont be many more of those. Hyperloop will also relieve these issues. The less cars we have on the streets at one time, the better.
  24. Are there any multistory PF's anywhere? Because a 3 story fitness center would be waaaay better here...
  25. You know what that means? 3 FRIGGIN' CRANES!!!!
