  1. What person in their right mind would come up during winter? It's not a priority until springtime. It would't make sense to patch during the winter...
  2. I'd nickname it QT tower, because it will probably be cute to look at in the skyline, but I only got that from PHSQT... which means i would really be saying tower twice in the same name... bonkers but I'd actually prefer QT tower because it uses an underutilized letter in the English Alphabet...

I always get made fun of, its actually kind of embarrassing. 'Wait a minute, did you just have a stroke?' 'what?' 'say highway again...' 'haiyweey...' I swear i'm a mix between Canadian with their 'aboot' and drawn out 'ou' vowels and a thin-mid Cleveland accent. If you have the Cleveland accent you talk with your nose but also exhibit different vowel patterns from standard mid-western.
  4. There's two more? Are there threads for them, because I would be highly interested in reading upon it.

I hear it here and there, but I also exhibit some attributes, and I usually catch myself before I sound like a fool to other people from out of state... 'Are you from Cleveland?' 'Ye... how ken you tell...' Also anyone notice that nobody up here says 'you're welcome?' We just nod or just say yep most of the time...
  6. You know what this means? TWO FRIGGIN CRANES!!!

We may be seeing a revival of tower city. I mean where else would this thing end up at?
  8. Ohio City, Little Italy, UC, and East Cleveland are pretty easy to point out...

That's great to hear YABO! I never would have thought they would ever push it forward.

Still a commuter school, but you're not going to get a high caliber soccer team from some kids who live nearby. Trust me if we had a stadium we could work with, I would definitely watch some of the sports we have, but the lackluster of that environment keeps me away. In the connecting bridges, I just see a large bubble... which don't get me wrong is pretty cool, but there's something about stadium lights that makes me giddy... Yet there's not been a whole bunch of focus on our athletics and its exactly why the Wolstein center is going under. Its also why I don't see CSU as being an identity even though I currently attend. I don't have anything good to support. Yet I still see no revamp of our athletics, and I don't see any future progress in place with Krenzler field, even though the land is large enough to support a mid sized sports venue. With our new president Harlan Sands, I hope there's some change in the athletics program however I don't think such a thing is on his agendas. I don't expect much but there's not enough going to it. Krenzler park is the next step in our athletics. I've looked at the numbers in Surface Area between neighboring campuses. There's plenty of room! Each collegiate stadium has around 300,000 square feet , best part about this, is that stadiums don't have to be symmetrical, and Krenzler is a weird polygon of sorts, but if we rid of the embarrassment of a baseball diamond and a tennis court, you can very well fit a mid sized stadium in there. What I would like to see is a revamp of CSU's athletics and futures, construction of said field, and leasing it to a soccer club like we currently do at the Wolstein with entertainment and concerts. Doing so would atleast cushion the attendance to maybe 5-10 thousand people. Maybe something under the seating arrangements of Huntington center in Toledo which is home to the ECHL Toledo Walleye. For a double minor league team they sell out to or over capacity almost every game. That says something. And Toledo doesn't have that much of a Hockey history. who says we cant build a flashy new multipurpose arena at Krenzler? This is possible money for CSU, leasing agreements on a multipurpose field for possibly many other leagues. If you want to see multipurpose done right, Nippert stadium in Cincinnati is used for their FCCincinnati team until they build their own soccer specific stadium.
  11. Someone i'm talking to: "Where ya from?" Me: "Oh about 30 minutes south of Cleveland."
  12. Cleveland State is far from a Liberal Arts College. Its an engineer/lawyer college. CSU may not have the money needed to research as much as OSU or UC, but it sure does its fair share in the research game even in law with a new field of "Space Law". This school is probably the best to go for engineers in Ohio, the tuition is super low, and the proximity to other engineering universities such as Toledo, Akron, and Bowling green make Lake Erie an Engineering basin. I would keep I-80 into consideration as there is a reasonable commute from 80 to each of these Universities. As I-80 kind of outlines the Watershed of Lake Erie, "Erie State University"

I dont think it boils down to population in Cleveland. I believe the momentum is based on whether or not people want another disappointment in town...

ugh... why did we ban players from the olympics... We have a miracle team that really hasn't pulled off any miracles... The Russians let theirs in, as a result Kovalchuck a former Atlanta Thrashers and NJ Devils player currently in the KHL, scored all 4 of Russia's goals against America, TBH we're lucky we just beat Slovakia and advanced to the quarter finals, but we face a tough challenge as Czechia has swept its full group including a win over Canada. Tough challenges ahead. If only Herb Brooks were here to see this 'maybe' happen.
  16. I'm sure if they're going to put used cars in the machine that they will be refurbished, and ABLE to drive...

You guys are bashing Elon way too hard here. In recent years, what other billionaire decided to better the world with his/her money in massive risk, massive projects, and in such a large scale? He's trying to do us a favor reduce emissions while increasing the convenience of the people. Tesla: The first car to drive highway speeds over 700 miles on a single charge. Manufacturing their own batteries, power banks, and solar shingles... https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/innovation/tesla-opens-gigafactory-expand-battery-production-sales-n617676 TheBoringCompany: (Just because he hasn't built one yet doesn't mean that he won't, He's already bored underneath LA for proof of concept) https://www.boringcompany.com/faq/ The boring machine they're developing will be fully autonomous, run on electric motors and will bore nearly 24/7 on little to no emissions. Which is great because there's been no upgrade to tunneling in decades... If the connection underneath the English Channel from England to France was bored with this machine, boring time would be cut almost in half, and costs would have never exceeded the initial budget of 5.5 billion pound sterling. The ground up stone would be reused as foundations for the tunnels. However I doubt that would even begin his Hyperloop projects without his boring machine. SpaceX: What can I say? They just strapped a roadster to the most powerful rocket available and shot it into space, and the rocket friggin landed itself... If that isn't space exploration, then I don't know what is... He's doing things that are inconceivably high risk for us. Cut him some slack guys. I remain optimistic because Elon gets his s**t done, even if he's copied an idea and made his version, its still an original patent...
  18. rumor has it that this is a rumor...

I was driving up 77 this morning to go to class, and I passed up a cop on the side of the highway, and I saw that his bumper guard was all bashed in... I just said aloud, "Man that is one f'd up bumper guard" and i just replayed that in my head for some reason, and then i caught myself... I said 'bumper gaerrd' instead of bumper guard... I've been using the ae more often than ever, maybe because i'm downtown a bit too much...
  20. Is this one of your sick jokes?

notice how much he uses is nasals to pronounce things like house, downtown, and tremont
  22. i-90 is part of the lakefront is it not, X?
  23. Agreed, the time to undo our highways is now. Detroit is actually getting rid of i-375 which runs right downtown. Who says we cant undo i-90 to prevent deadman's curve and neighborhood splitting. Instead of just having 50 exits per mile, it would be way more efficient if there were highways that completely bypassed big cities to avoid any big city traffic. 90 runs from seattle to boston, so i imagine there's alot of thru traffic. There's no more industry on the lakefront, so its best to just get rid of anything that blocks the way of the lakefront... Here's what I'd do: ====================================================================================================================== Red, and salmon color are the current routes for i-90, but salmon is the portion i'd rip out from black to black line, and probably repave roads to be mid to high density city streets, definitely not for bike lanes, should just be an outlet into downtown rather than make a 90 degree angle away from the lakefront. Blue indicates a better route completely bypassing cleveland's urban core shooting from i-490, where the dashed blue indicates subducted/ bored road. As you can sort of see the dashed blue lines emerge out from the Cuyahoga airport that nobody uses and connects without any sharp edges to i-271. This completely opens up our shoreway, opens up neighborhoods and would even open up new development along the shoreway even. ====================================================================================================================== Sorry the concept art isnt top tier, but it's what i'd do to revitalize downtown's lakefront. This of course would only leave us the task of bridging over the railroad tracks which could also be built over top of via land bridges, capping, and even tunneling. It's ok to have highways end up in downtown, but the real problem comes when they run through downtown. The way i-490 happens to just exist before i-77 is kind of how it should work. If my plans were to go through, the past route of the innerbelt would be much safer. There wouldn't be as much traffic traveling towards you where lanes just abruptly end as they begin on i-90. It would already begin as i-77/ i-71.
  24. The way they have some of their freeways in Paris, France. They actually subduct underneat the financial district. You drive in a tunnel which basically cuts through the entirety of that district, it was kinda neat just driving in the tunnel towards the big buildings, and then popping out driving away from them. Also Cincinnati is somewhat planning on capping an entire section of a freeway It can be done, it's not impossible, I'd love to see this done not only for the crossing between lakefront and malls, but the entirety of i-90 through Cleveland. Would really get rid of an eyesore, plus we could build on them, a downtown bike trail rather than bike lanes making it a more scenic route. Do you know how much CSU would benefit from this? What other green space does CSU have besides the courtyard? Or you could build more buildings for retail and residential. MORE SPACE! Who doesn't like more space? So the Malls are dead, and there's already alot of room for change. I'm surprised there aren't shaded areas on those lawns. We're missing a massive chance to become forest city again, and to be even remotely close to Savannah, Georgia's historic parks with drooping willows over every pathway. I'm also surprised there's no stage for performances atop the Huntington center, would make an excellent small performance venue. Its outside, and even with a lawn incline like Blossom. This will bring business. In order to attract food, bars, and other small shops, you need an attraction for the area. No one just up's and says, "Yeah I'm going over to Linndale for their culture." culture of handing out unlawful speeding tickets that's for sure. Nobody goes to Linndale for the food or culture because there is none. It's only a small part of Cleveland that just wont fold. Basically the same goes with the malls. Private owned land that just wont give up and have no idea on how to improve themselves.
  25. Just went down for a Monsters game and parked in the E. 6 garage right across. They basically have Huron closed down to a one way right in front of the arena. Before events, traffic goes north, but the afterwards traffic is routed south towards Ontario.
